연명치료 중단 인식과 태도에 대한 의대생과 간호대생의 차이 (Difference between Medical Students and Nursing Students about Awareness and Attitude toward Withdrawal of Life-Sustaining Medical Treatment)

  • 본 연구는 의대생과 간호대생의 연명치료 중단에 대한 인식과 태도를 파악하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구대상은 전국 의과대학과 간호대학에 재학 중인 학생으로 2018년 10월 8일부터 11월 15일까지 수집된 자료 240부를 빈도, 백분율, 평균, 표준편차, t-test, Mann Whitney U, ANOVA를 사용해 분석하였다. 연구결과 대상자의 95%이상 연명치료 중단이 필요하다고 답하였다. 연명치료 중단 인식에서 '연명치료 중단이 필요한 주된 요인', '필요하지 않은 이유', '중단 설명의 적절한 시기', '지침서 제정 필요성'에 대해서는 의견이 비슷하였으나 '연명치료의 바람직한 결정자'에 대해서 의대생은 '환자의 의지'가 간호대생은 '환자와 가족의 의지'가 중요하다고 답하였다. 연명치료 중단 태도는 통계적 유의한 차이가 없었고, 연명치료 중단 결정에 있어 간호대생은 의대생에 비해 '가족의 의지와 결정'이 더 중요하다는 태도를 보였다. 연구의 결과를 토대로 예비 의료인인 의대생과 간호대생을 대상으로 올바른 가치관에 근거한 연명치료 중단에 대한 인식과 태도 형성을 위한 교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 대한 지속적인 논의가 필요하다.

Mouthguard use in Korean Taekwondo athletes - awareness and attitude

  • PURPOSE. A survey was performed to identify the level of mouthguard use, awareness, wearability issues and attitude toward mouthguard among elite Korean Taewondo athletes. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Survey questionnaires were given to 152 athletes participating in the Korea National Taekwondo team selection event for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. Questionnaires consisted of three sections, mouthguard awareness, reasons for not wearing mouthguard and the last section to test the level of acceptance on current mouthguard and when the identified problems were resolved. For analyzing difference among response, ${\chi}^2$ test was used and significant level (${\alpha}$) was set up as 0.05. RESULTS. Responses in each of items showed significant difference (P<.001). Majority of response regarding each question: Majority of respondents believed that mouthguard were effective in preventing injuries (36.4%) but the result suggested that the provision of information on mouthguard to athletes was inadequate (44.0%) and the result showed that respondents were not greatly interested or concerned in relation to the mandatory mouthguard rule (31.6%). Although the responses on the level of comfort and wearability of mouthguard were negative (34.8%), athletes were positively willing to wear mouthguard if the problems rectified (51.2%). CONCLUSION. Considering the high level of willingness to wear mouthguard if the problems rectified, it is thought that together with efforts in providing more mouthguard information, the work of sports dentistry to research and improve mouthguard will be invaluable in promoting mouthguard to more athletes.

Reducing the Breast Cancer Menace: the Role of the Male Partner in Ghana

  • Background: Breast cancer continues to be the most common type of cancer afflicting many women worldwide. Presently, educational campaigns and research target only women as if men have no role in the management of this disease. The study examined the willingness of male partners to assist in early female breast cancer detection as well as their awareness and knowledge levels. Materials and Methods: Using a semi-structured questionnaire, data was collected from 500 public servants within the Tamale Metropolis and analyzed in SPSS. Results: The level of awareness of breast cancer was very high (98.8%) but there was a low level of knowledge of breast cancer among the male population. Marital status and religion had no effect on attitude, but increasing educational status significantly increased knowledge and positive attitude towards breast cancer examination (${\chi}^2$=4.255, p=0.0391). The majority (92.0%) agreed that men can assist in early breast cancer detection and 96.2% were willing to be provided with breast examination skills. Conclusions: Although level of awareness on female breast cancers among the men was high, they generally lack knowledge of the disease. Majority of male partners want to assist in early breast cancer detection if provided with the necessary skills.

초등학교에서 황사에 관한 환경교육 교재의 개발과 적용 (A Development and Application of the Environmental Education Text Book about the Asian Dust in the Elementary School)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and applicate the elementary environmental textbook in order to solve its problem and to improve attitude related to the Asian dust. The results in this research are as follows. First, it was showed that three groups who composed of teachers, parents and students in the elementary school had recognized the serosities and problems caused by the Asian dust form TV, and that such problems was associated with increase of the desertification and the global warming. Especially the student group insist that the cause in Asian dust is due to the natural phenomena or industrialization. Second, as a result in analysis on the Asian dust through both textbooks on the 7th elementary curriculum and subsidiary textbooks, contents concerning Asian dusts was little or noting. In addition, in the subjects of Science, Society and Health for the 5th and 6th grade students in the elementary school, they were explained partially as one of the air pollutants. Third, the elementary environmental textbook on the Asian dust was developed for the 5th and 6th grade students. The textbook is composed of four contents on the material which is harmful of the human health and life in Asian dust, the special news of Asian dust, and the best answer to solve Asian dust as well as the cause and the source of Asian dust. Forth, as a result in classes using the environmental textbook developed by four themes about the Asian dust, its application is meaningful in the level of p value in the view of knowledge, awareness and attitude of the experiment group. They was more improved in 37%, 14%, and 15%, respectively, than the comparative group. In conclusion, the environmental textbook related to Asian dust will play an important role in useful tool to understand the right knowledge, awareness, and attitude which makes an effort on its effective management in the elementary school.

Oral Cancer Knowledge and Practice among Dental Patients and their Attitude Towards Tobacco Cessation in Iran

  • Background: One of the main causes of delay in diagnosis of oral cancer is lack of awareness about aetiology and symptoms among the general population. The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge and practice of patients regarding oral cancer and their attitude towards tobacco cessation. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out in Isfahan-Iran in 2014. A 29-item self-administrated questionnaire was designed and piloted and distributed to patients attending dental clinics. Questions were focused on awareness about oral cancer risk factors, signs and symptoms, places in the mouth which are more susceptible and attitude toward tobacco cessation. Chi-square, T-test, ANOVA and logistic regression tests were used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 546 valid completed questionnaires were obtained. The mean knowledge score of patients was 4.1(${\pm}2.7$) out of 13. Some 80% of patients did not know about early manifestations of oral cancer. Only 18% knew the most likely sites of oral cancer. Only 43.1% and 65.2% of patients reported alcohol and tobacco consumption as the main risk factors but they had a fair knowledge about other risk factors. There was no significant difference in Knowledge level between patients regarding their sex, educational levels and age. Most patents (90%) expected their dentists to warn them about the harmful effects of smoking and showed willingness to quit if recommended. Conclusions: Knowledge about oral cancer was found to be quite low. It seems necessary to increase the level of public awareness using educational programs with cooperation of dentists in tobacco cessation programs.

패션 소비자의 환경의식, 처분 추구가치, 지속가능한 패션소비태도와 패션처분행동에 관한 연구 (Fashion consumer's environmental awareness, pursuing values in disposal, sustainable fashion consumption attitude and fashion disposal behavior)

  • This study identified fashion consumers disposal behavior and analyzed the effects of consumers pursuing values in disposal, environmental awareness, and sustainable fashion consumption attitudes in regards to fashion disposal behavior. A survey questionnaire was developed and data were obtained from 460 consumers in their 20's to 50's in Korea who had experienced fashion disposal behaviors during last 12 months. As a result, there were four different fashion disposal behaviors such as economical, practical, and social disposal as well as hoarding behaviors. Consumers pursuing values in disposal affected fashion disposal behavior. Practical and economical values had positively impacted economical disposal and hoarding behaviors. While hedonic value had a negative impact on economical disposal behavior, it had a positive impact on social disposal behavior. Also, environmental-social values had positively impacted practical and social disposal behaviors. Fashion-related environmental knowledge had positively impacted economical and practical disposal behaviors and PCE affected social disposal behavior, while environmental concerns had a negative impact on economical disposal behavior. Consumers attitude toward used-fashion items, fashion recycling, and fashion innovativeness affected all of fashion disposal behaviors. Although hoarding behavior has been an under researched area, the finding implied that hoarding behavior was affected by consumer's pursuing value in disposal and sustainable consumption attitude. Also, environmental-social values and attitudes toward used-fashion items would induce practical disposal behavior such as reuse by alteration or reform. Consumers economical and hedonic values can promote donations or exchange/resale of unwanted fashion items, which can lead to sustainable consumption.

농업.농촌의 공익기능에 대한 사회적 인식 연구 (Social Awareness on the Function of Public Benefit of Agriculture and Rural Areas)

  • The purpose of this study is to segment the social awareness on the function of public benefit of agriculture and rural areas by socio-economic and action/attitude characteristics, and to identify the influential variables in social awareness. The nationwide survey of 1,200 adults aged over 20 was conducted, and the data was analyzed by PASW statistics 17.0. One of the awareness variables was the degree of the consent to the preservation of the public beneficial function. This variable was segmented by the interest on related information, the criteria of buying agricultural products, occupation and age. And the other awareness variable was the willingness to pay for the preservation of the public beneficial function. This variable was segmented by the education, occupation, income and the experience of living in rural areas. According to the results, some suggestions for improving the social awareness on the public beneficial function of agriculture and rural areas were discussed.

노후준비 인식과 행동에 대한 노후 생활설계 상담의 효과 (The Efficacy of Retirement Planning Counseling on Retirement Preparation Awareness and Behavior)

  • Individuals are increasingly required to take more responsibility for their own retirement. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of counseling for retirement planning on awareness and behavior related to retirement preparation. The data came from 3,561 adults who received counseling from National Pension Service. The major findings can be summarized as follows : (1) There were significant changes in awareness and behavior for retirement preparation after receiving counseling services ; (2) young age, type of counseling (comprehensive diagnostics for retirement preparation), and counseling method (face-to-face) had a positive effect on changes in awareness and behavior ; and (3) expertise and adequacy of counseling, as well as the attitude of counselors, had an influence on changes in awareness and behavior.

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생을 대상으로 웰다잉에 대한 인식과 연명치료중단의 태도 및 안락사에 대한 태도 간의 관계를 알아보고자 시도되었다. 연구 기간은 2018년 4월 1일부터 5월 6일까지로 D광역시에 소재한 간호학과의 288명의 간호대학생을 대상으로 조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 웰다잉에 대한 인식은 연명치료중단의 태도와 적극적 안락사, 소극적 안락사와 정(+)의 상관관계로, 연명치료중단의 태도는 적극적 안락사, 소극적 안락사와 정(+)의 상관관계로 나타났다. 간호사는 연명치료과정에서 많은 윤리적 갈등을 경험할 것으로 예상되는 바 간호대학생 시기에 웰다잉에 대한 인식, 생명윤리교육을 받는 것이 필요하고 교육프로그램의 개발과 효과평가가 요구된다.

스마트폰광고 이용자의 광고태도에 영향을 미치는 상황인지가치에 관한 연구 (The Effect of the Context Awareness Value on the Smartphone Adopter' Advertising Attitude)

  • 스마트폰 광고시장의 급격한 성장으로 그간 광고태도연구에서 주요한 요인으로 고려되었던, 재미(Entertainment), 정보(Information), 짜증(Irritation)과 같은 일반적으로 광고가치에 영향을 주는 요인 외에 스마트폰의 특성에 의해 발생하는 상황인지가치(Context Awareness Value)에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 그간 상황인지가치에 영향을 주는 요인을 찾기 위해 주로 위치(Location)를 중심으로 연구되어 왔는데, 스마트폰을 통해 발생하는 상황인지가치는 위치 이외에도 다양하다고 할 수 있다. 즉, 무선인터넷기술의 활용을 통한 SNS 활용, 유심카드를 이용한 개인 확인, 다양한 앱의 활용 등의 변화는 기존의 모바일기기에서 제공하는 기능들의 활용이 더욱 중요해지고 있고, 이로 인해 발생하는 다양한 상황인지가치의 요인이 존재한다고 할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 연구는 이동통신시장의 광고채널이 스마트폰으로 전환되면서 발생하는 상황인지가치의 영향을 고려한 분석을 실시하여, 이전 연구에서 고려되지 못했던 최근 광고시장 상황이 반영된 연구결과가 도출되었다고 할 수 있다. 분석결과에 따르면, 이전의 광고태도 연구에서 주요한 요인이라고 여겨졌던 재미와 짜증은 영향은 적어지고, 여전히 정보가 미치는 영향은 크게 작용되고 있어 이는 현재의 정보화시대에서 정보의 중요성 및 영향력에 대한 이해와 분석도 여전히 필요하다고 할 수 있다 스마트폰으로 인한 광고시장변화에 따라 활동(Activity), 시기(Timing), 위치(Location) 등과 같은 상황인지가치가 광고태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 점을 확인하였으며, 신원은 영향이 없음으로 나타났다. 또한 광고가치와 상황인지가치는 스마트폰 광고태도에 유의한 영향이 있음으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 스마트폰광고 시 이용자가 원하는 정보를 이용자의 상황에 최적화시켜 스마트폰 광고를 실시하여야만, 광고효과를 극대화 할 수 있다는 점을 시사한다.
