  • This study aims to analyze the causes of Internet hate speech, which has recently been emerging as a serious social problem and to seek for countermeasures. The experiences of hate speech are examined through the analysis of college students' essays and the causes and solutions of hate speech are suggested through the in-depth interviews with the experts. College students experience hate speech on the Internet on the basis of attributes such as age, gender, sexual orientation, and regionalism. Online comments on news, social media and online games are the main sources in spreading hate speech. On a personal level the lack of awareness of human dignity and the absence of media education are diagnosed as the reasons for online hate speech. The social reasons for online hate speech lie in the lack of human rights education and the problems of the media. In order to improve the problems of Internet hate speech, various suggestions are proposed on the legal, social and educational levels.

  • To evaluate the potential risk associated with zoonotic ascarid eggs in educational facilities and public playground in Seoul city, the sand samples collected from April to December in 2011 were examined with a fecal flotation method. Of 5,066 sand samples from 1,367 playgrounds tested, 12 sands from 12 places (0.88%) had ascarid eggs. Sand samples in educational facilities were more contaminated (10/870, 1.15%) with the parasite eggs than those of public playground area (2/497, 0.4%). Fisher's exact tests were used to make pairwise comparisons between which locations were more or less similar with regard to levels of contamination. We didn't find significantly different from one another. Most ascarid eggs detected were found in the Spring. Through this study, we hope to raise awareness of contamination of playgrounds by potentially infectious ascarid ova.

The subjects were 703 people who lived in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do. The results were analyzed by using the PASW 21.0 program. The findings of this study led to the following conclusions: First, the users of HFSC showed a higher level of family strength than the non-users did. This is the users had a high level of awareness of family's values and importance compared to the non-users. Second, the users revealed higher levels at a positive spillover from work to family and from family to work than the non-users. Therefore, it is confirmed that the users have a positive view of work-family spillover due to their family strength. Finally, there was a significant result at the moderation effects of work-family spillover according to personal traits, family and job characteristics. Specifically, work-family negative spillover was effected family strength through the age of the users' children. The result suggest that family strength has positive effects on the family cycle. It will be worthwhile to pay attention in future research to discover what is the appropriate support for dual earner families.

To determine the internal validity of clothing behavior mesurement, factor analysis was computed, whereas to determine the reliability, Cronbach's alpha was calculated. The statistical methods adopted were correlation, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression. The results obtained in this study were as follows: 1) As for clothing behavior instruments, items dealing with status symbol and fashion nterest were proved to be satisfactory as a measurement of adult males. Eight factors emerged on clothing acceptance Ⅱ, most of which were representing unappropriate clothing choice for occasion. 2) Demographic variables were significantly related to the adult males' clothing behavior. • The purpose of this study was to evaluate Korean and foreign environmental education programs: 3 Korean programs including 'Environmental Education Program' for primary school level, 'Environment' for middle school level, 'Ecology and Environment' for high school level and 2 foreign programs including 'TLSF(Teaching and Loaming for a Sustainable Future) Program and IEEIA(Investigating and Evaluating Environmental Issues and Actions) Program using IAEEC (The Inventory for Assessing Environmental Education Curricula) by Kim (2003). The IAEEC include four goal levels of the foundations level, the conceptual awareness level, the investigation level, environmental action skills level and an optical level: teaching methods and practice. The IAEEC use a 5-point Likert scale to identify the extent to which an environmental education curriculum or a program reflects the goals of environmental education. It was found that our school environmental education programs need to be more involved, especially in the areas of social foundations (political & legal); personal beliefs and values in environmental issue and the critical analysis of the issue by identifying important players' positions, beliefs, and values; and the environmental action to solve the issue and evaluate the consequences and effectiveness of the action plan. This study can provide a meaningful direction for program development in environmental education and especially provide school-teachers with reliable sources in analyzing environmental education programs for their school classes.

  • As food waste problems become more severe, the need for reduction plans is increasing. Thus, this study aimed to discover the attitudes towards and the intentions to reduce restaurant food waste as well as the importance of and intentions to participate in reduction plans among adults customers A self-administrated questionnaire was given to 361 adults (216 men and 145 women) over 20 years old residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. According to the results, the respondents regarded restaurant food waste problems as serious (4.01). The biggest reason for leaving food was concern about hygiene (3.57), followed by tasting food (3.34) and portions that were too large (3.10). 57.6% responded that they try to reduce food waste when dining out. Women over 30 admitted to leaving food when dining out if the food did not taste as expected, if they had health concerns about additives such as condiments, and for body weight management. The overall average degree of awareness on the gravity of restaurant food waste problems was 4.06, indicating that respondents deeply empathized with the matter. Women showed higher alertness compared to men, and respondents in their 30s or over did more than those in their 20s. Also, respondents who try to reduce food waste when dining out had higher levels of concern than those who did not. According to the results from measuring the importance of and intention to participate in restaurant food waste reduction plans, taking away left-over food was the best option. In short, citizenship improvement campaigns should be designed for restaurants and related organizations in order to stimulate the need and effects of efforts to reduce dine-out food waste and induce aggressive participation by consumers. Diverse methods to increase actual consumer participation in food waste reduction plans that show high consumer participation intentions also needs to be developed.

  • This study examined the state of health and weight maintenance according to the body mass index (BMI) , and explored demographic variables, diet variables, the degree of stress etc. The results presented were based on data collected from 428 women who are mothers of the middle school children in Jeongeup city. Using SPSS WIN (Ver 9.0) , the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square, ANOVA, and correlation analysis were provided. The mean of BMI for the subjects was 22.6, the ratio of obese women (BMI $\geq$ 25) was 22.9%. The frequency of the reported circulation or respiratory related diseases was greater in the obese group compared to the normal weight ($20 \leq BMI \leq 25$) or the lean (BMI < 20) groups. The obese group had less awareness of obesity. Those who regard themselves obese had lower rates of satisfaction with their body shape and higher rates of interest in weight control. Approximately 65% of the subjects attempted weight reduction more than once. Subjects who were obese had the most undesirable dietary behavior. In particular, this group had the higher rates of rushed meals, overeating, meals while watching TV or newspapers, and snacking, and eating out. In analyzing the correlation of variables influencing obesity, there were positive correlations between obesity and overeating, obesity and the degree of stress. Correlations between obesity and satisfaction for life found to be negative. Moreover, stress had a positive correlation with obesity and overeating, and showed negative correlation with eating behavior. Consequently, stress seemed to induce undesirable eating behaviors and increase obesity. Of the demographic background variables, subjects who were obese tended to be older, had lower levels of education, higher rates of employment, longer period of marriage, the higher number of children, preschool children or children preparing for highschool or college, lower satisfaction with children and household life.
