A construction of the exhibition evaluation support system based on GUI by visitors behavior analysis

  • The present thesis is on a construction of the system which supports exhibition evaluation of curators, which automatically collects, keeps, and totalizes objective data on visitor behavior in museums, and which comprehensively displays the results by tables and graphs. The system is composed by access points and mobile exhibition exposition devices in the museum operating together. Obtainable visitor information include a user number, an average staying period, contents use hour, and exhibition viewing frequency. Prototype experiment at museums shows that the system is effective in efficient data collection and exhibition evaluation and is expected to become an information collecting tool for visitor research and an exhibition evaluation tool for exhibition improvement.

Gantry Robot with Extended Workspace for Pavement Sign Painting Operations

  • The current method for pavement sign marking operations is labor-intensive and very dangerous due to the exposure of workers to passing traffic. It also requires blocking traffic for a long period of time resulting serious traffic jam. This paper deals with the development of a robotic system for automating the pavement sign painting operations. The robotic system consists of gantry frame equipped with transverse drive rail and automatic paint spray system. The workspace of the gantry robot is extended to one-lane width with the transverse rail system. This research also includes the development of font data structures that contain the shape information of pavement signs, such as Korean letters, English letters and symbols. The robot path is generated with this font data through the procedures of scaling up/down and partitioning the signs to be painted depending on the workspace size.

  • This paper presents a robotic tower-crane system using encoder and gyroscope sensors as path tracking devices. Tower crane work is often associated with falling accidents and industrial disasters. Such problems often incur a loss of time and money for the contractor. For this reason, many studies have been done on an automatic tower crane. As a part of 5-year 23-million-dollar research project in Korea, we are developing a robotic tower crane which aims to improve the safety level and productivity. We selected a luffing tower crane, which is commonly used in urban construction projects today, as a platform for the robotic tower crane system. This system comprises two modules: the automated path planning module and the path tracking module. The automated path planning system uses the 3D Cartesian coordinates. When the robotic tower crane lifts construction material, the algorithm creates a line, which represents a lifting path, in virtual space. This algorithm seeks and generates the best route to lift construction material while avoiding known obstacles from real construction site. The path tracking system detects the location of a lifted material in terms of the 3D coordinate values using various types of sensors including adopts encoder and gyroscope sensors. We are testing various sensors as a candidate for the path tracking device. This specific study focuses on how to employ encoder and gyroscope sensors in the robotic crane These sensors measure a movement and rotary motion of the robotic tower crane. Finally, the movement of the robotic tower crane is displayed in a virtual space that synthesizes the data from two modules: the automatically planned path and the tracked paths. We are currently field-testing the feasibility of the proposed system using an actual tower crane. In the next step, the robotic tower crane will be applied to actual construction sites with a following analysis of the crane's productivity in order to ascertain its economic efficiency.

  • According to the construction of Seoul Thermal #5 (250MW) unit, there will be prospected several new problems on the power system operation. This paper describes the characteristic of system frequency decay during severe emergencies which result in sudden outage of such large generator unit. It also studies the factors involved in applying under frequency relays to maintan an allowable frequency level and to prevent total area collapse by automatic load shedding program.

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an effective decision-making platform that helps to save project cost and enhance quality of construction. By generating and linking a wide variety of objects data, BIM can be effectively utilized, and it should be ensured that object properties maintain consistency throughout the project period of design, estimates, construction, maintenance and repair. This study examined how to utilize BIM data in a construction project, by linking cost and schedule data in web environment, to better utilize the information and maintain consistency of the BIM information. To do so, the model integrated WBS data and CBS data, linked them with BIM model to realize 5D simulation in web environment. As a result, cost and schedule data could be simultaneously acquired, and object properties-cost, schedule, location-as well. These are expected to contribute to developing a BIM-based automatic data-processing system in web environment.

  • In the design and construction of the coastal/offshore structures, it is very important to evaluate the geotechnical characteristics of marine soils, which support the structures. Although the offshore site investigation is much more difficult than onshore, safe and precise jobs have not been accomplished in Korea because of the insufficiency of the test equipments especially for the site with deep water depth. The main objective of this study is to develop a new type of marine cone penetration testing(CPT) system, which can be utilized to even deep sea and high depth of soil layer. The system is one of seabed types and employs the conventional cone, which shows more reliable results than miniature cone. The most important parts of the marine CPT including continuous rod system, cone penetration system with wheel drive, automatic cone rod assembly/dissembly system etc., were designed and manufactured. Some tests to verify the developed marine CPT system were performed at both onshore and offshore sites as well as mechanical test in laboratory. The test results show the consistent and promising performance of the new equipment, and thereafter the system would be applicable to various sites with practical/economical advantages.

  • 도로면 크랙실링 공법은 예방적 차원에서 도로면에 발생된 크랙을 초기에 효과적으로 보수할 수 있는 공법으로 국내외에 서는 1990년대 초반부터 기존 도로면 크랙실링 작업의 생산성, 안전성 및 품질의 균일성 확보를 목적으로 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 개발을 위한 지속적인 연구개발 노력을 수행해 왔다. 도로면 크랙실링 자동화 장비를 개발함에 있어 특히 경로계획은 주어진 작업 영역 내에서 개발 장비로 하여금 실링될 크랙 네트워크를 시간 효과적으로 횡단할 수 있도록 하는 운항 정보를 제공하게 되므로 이는 개발 장비의 성능을 결정 짖는 매우 중요한 연구주제라 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 작업 영역 내 경로계획 데이터의 효과적인 모델링을 통해 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 최적 경로계획 알고리즘을 개발하는 것으로써, 경로 집합전체를 완전 탐색하는 2단계 트리 알고리즘과 크랙의 순열만을 탐색하는 1단계 트리 알고리즘을 개발하였으며, 알고리즘의 성능 측정 및 분석을 통해 최적 경로계획 알고리즘의 적용 범위와 그에 따른 성능 향상 정도를 평가하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 도로면 크랙실링 자동화 장비의 생산성 향상에 크게 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Light railway system has many characteristics of better accessibility, frequency service, low construction cost, reduced air pollution and medium capacity public transport etc. Light railway system as a urban transportation system has been glowing worldwide since the late 20th century. More than 300 cities around the world have light railway systems. Many medium-size cities in domestic site is planning the construction of light railway. This paper reviews the domestic and foreign light railway system.

YOLOv4 기반의 소형 물체탐지기법을 이용한 건설도면 내 철강 자재 문자 검출 및 인식기법 (Character Detection and Recognition of Steel Materials in Construction Drawings using YOLOv4-based Small Object Detection Techniques)

  • 최근 딥러닝 기반의 객체 검출 및 인식 연구가 발전해가면서 산업 및 실생활에 적용되는 범위가 넓어지고 있다. 건설 분야에도 딥러닝 기반의 시스템이 도입되고 있지만 아직은 미온적이다. 건설 도면에서 자재 산출이 수작업으로 이뤄지고 있어 많은 소요시간과 부정확한 적산 결과로 잘못된 물량산출의 거래가 생길 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 빠르고 정확한 자동 도면 인식시스템이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문은 건설도면 내 철강 자재를 검출하고 인식하는 인공지능기반 자동 도면 인식 적산 시스템을 제안한다. 빠른 속도의 YOLOv4 기반에 소형 객체 검출성능을 향상하기 위한 복제 방식의 데이터 증강기법과 공간집중 모듈을 적용하였다. 검출한 철강 자재 영역을 문자 인식한 결과를 토대로 철강 자재를 적산한다. 실험 결과 제안한 방식은 기존 YOLOv4 대비 정확도와 정밀도를 각각 1.8%, 16% 증가시켰다. 제안된 방식의 Precision은 0.938, Recall은 1, AP0.5는 99.4%, AP0.5:0.95 68.8%의 향상된 결과를 얻었다. 문자 인식은 기존 데이터를 사용한 인식률 75.6%에 비해 건설도면에 사용되는 폰트에 맞는 데이터 세트를 구성하여 학습한 결과 99.9%의 인식률을 얻었다. 한 이미지 당 평균 소요시간은 검출 단계는 0.013초, 문자 인식은 0.65초, 적산 단계는 0.16초로 총 0.84초의 결과를 얻었다.

  • 정보검색 분야의 발전은 많은 양의 정보를 빠르게 찾아주는 것에서 사람이 원하는 정보를 정확하게 찾아주는 연구 분야로 넓혀가고 있다. 핵심 기술로는 개인화 및 시맨틱 웹 기술을 활용하고 있다. 웹 문서에 대한 자동색인 기술과 처리능력은 연구단계를 넘어 실용 서비스로 나타나고 있다. 하지만 웹 문서 이외의 첨부된 문서 형태에 대한 문서정보검색에 관한 연구는 미진한 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 텍스트, 워드, 한글과 같은 형식으로 작성된 비정형 문서의 본문 내용을 분석하여 OWL 온톨로지로 구축하는 방법에 대해 설명한다. 문서 온톨로지의 TBox를 구축하고, 문서로부터 얻을 수 있는 자원을 선정하여, 구축된 문서 온톨로지의 인스턴스로 활용할 수 있도록 시스템으로 구현한다. 이와 같은 비정형 문서의 온톨로지 자동 구축으로 해당 문서의 시맨틱 기술을 이용한 정보검색 및 문서관리 시스템에서 효과적으로 활용 가능하다.
