A Supervisor-Based Neural-Adaptive Shift Controller for Automatic Transmissions Considering Throttle Opening and Driving Load

  • Recently, many passenger cars have adopted automatic transmissions for shifting gears, and thus the smooth and precise control of gear shifts of passenger car automatic transmissions has become more and more essential for the riding comfort of vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. In this article, a neural network-based supervisor for an automotive shift controller considering the throttle opening, variations in throttle opening, and the driving load is presented. For using the driving load information, an observer-based driving load estimation algorithm is proposed. A proportional-integral-derivative controller along with an open loop controller is used as a low level controller for controlling the gear shifts, and a supervisory controller for properly adapting the shift control parameters of the low level shift controller is designed using ANFIS. To evaluate the control performance of the proposed supervisor-based shift controller, both simulation studies and experimental studies are performed for various shifting situations.

화력 발전소 드럼수위의 퍼지-PI 캐스케이드 제어 (Fuzzy-PI Cascade Control of Drum Level of Boiler in Thermal Power Plan)

  • The drum level control is initiated by 1-element manual control, and then the control mode is changed to 1-element automatic control mode. Finally, the drum level control is changed to 3-element automatic control mode by the logic based on pre-defined threshold of main steam flow. In terms of plant automation, the automatic 1-element control mode is required from the start-up of boiler. In this paper, the fuzzy controller is adopted for automatic 1-element control of drum level from start-up. It is suggested that the fuzzy controller is used in 1-element control, and the fuzzy-PI cascade controller is used in 3-element control. Finally, the validity of suggested control scheme is shown via simulation.

  • Automatic control system using microcomputer that have been studied in greenhouse, however, it was very difficult operation with success due to handicap for a various conditions and cultivated plants. This study was performed in order to develop of the basic program and hardware system for automatic control in greenhouse, such as automatic supplying of water, liquefied fertilizer solution and chemical solution. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The program for soil moisture control used by the switch type tensiometer was well operated. 2. The proximity switch was applied as well to water level control but it was very expensive, so low-priced sensor has to be developed. 3. The water meter was not excellent for mixing control of liquefied fertilizer, chemical and water, so water meter for only agricalture has to be developed. 4. Interface system for this study was suited to the developed controller. 5. Automatic control system to supply for water, liquefied fertilizer and chemical solution that was well operated as a fundamental study for product of controller.

  • The PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller is widely used in the industries for more than fifty years with the well known Ziegler-Nichols tuning method and others varieties. However, most of the PID controller being used in the real practice still require trial and error adjustment for each process after the tuning method is done, which is consuming of time and needs the operator experiences to obtain the best results for the controller parameter. In order to reduce the inconvenience in the controller tuning, this paper presents a design of an automatic PID controller parameter analyzer being used as a support instrument in the industrial process control. This analyzer is designed based on the tuning formula of Dahlin to synthesize the PID controller parameter. Using this analyzer, the time to be spent in the trial and error procedures and its complexity can be neglected. Experimental results using PID controller parameter synthesized from this analyzer to the liquid level control plant model and the fluid flow control plant model show that the responses of the controlled systems can be efficiently controlled without any difficulty in mathemathical computation.

  • 이중여자 유도형 풍력발전 시스템은 다른 풍력발전 시스템에 비하여 에너지 변환 효율이 우수하고 전력변환 장치의 용량이 작아도 되는 특성이 있다. 이러한 특징을 살리기 위해서는 풍력발전 시스템에 입력되는 에너지의 변화를 고려하여 발전기의 제어기를 설계해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 상위 제어기와 하위 제어기로 구분하여 이중여자 유도 발전기의 제어기를 설계하였다. 상위 제어가는 풍력발전 시스템에 입력되는 에너지가 변화함에 따라서 발전기의 운전모드를 결정하고 제어 기준값을 계산한다. 발전기의 운전모드는 최저 속도 제어와 가변 토크 제어, 그리고 토크 제한 모드로 구성된다. 하위 제어기는 상위 제어기의 지령에 따라서 발전 시스템의 전류를 제어한다. 또한 본 논문에서는 3kW급 권선형 유도기를 사용한 이중여자 유도형 풍력발전기의 시뮬레이터를 제작하였다. 설계한 제어기는 시뮬레이터에 적용하여 실험적으로 검증하였다.

  • The automatic control system in the greenhouse have to be developed to the direction of considering various factors the variables such as condition of the cultivation and greenhouse, the properties and types of products. Therefore, it is more important to set up variables appropriately than the problems of automatic control system itself, and the automatic control system which satisfy these problems should be simplified in the aspect of operation. In addition, even the individual automations are not perfect yet, so more studies are required for the development of comprehensive automatic system in korea. This study was carried out to automatize environment control systems for greenhouse, especially from most intensive labor requiring parts such as watering, irrigating liquefied fertilizer, spraying chemicals, mixing and ventilation system, etc. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Control type tensiometer was expected to be desirable in the automation of watering system, therefore, a new tensiometer was designed and developed through this study. 2. The chemical spraying system developed through this study was found to be excellent in the aspect of operation. 3. When pulse type water discharge meter was used in the mixing of liquefied fertilizer and chemical solution, the error of mixing were range $\pm$0.1~0.15%. 4. The water level switch of electrod type used for controlling water level was found to be affective in both control performance and operation cost. 5. The water and level control system can be omitted if each tank size are standardized in accordance with greenhouse size, therefore, the installation cost might be significantly reduced. 6. The developed general controller was excellent in hardware parts, but still remained to be improved in software parts.

  • 본 논문에서는 마이크 입력레벨 조절기의 구현과 이를 이용한 인식률의 향상을 다룬다. 마이크를 통한 음성 입력이 너무 작거나 너무 크면 인식률에 직접 영향을 미치므로 인식에 적합한 입력레벨로 조절할 필요가 있다. 자동 입력레벨 조절기의 구현을 위해 고려할 사항을 연구했으며, 이를 통해 PC환경의 입력레벨 조절기를 구현했다. 수집된 음성 데이터베이스는 켑스트럼 평균차감법(CMS)을 이용하여 채널왜곡을 보상했으며, 구현된 조절기를 이용하여 실험한 결과, 이용하지 않은 경우에 비해 약 50%의 오인식율을 줄일 수 있었다.

Application of Self-Organizing Fuzzy Logic Controller to Nuclear Steam Generator Level Control

  • In this paper, the self-organizing fuzzy logic controller is developed for water level control of steam generator. In comparison with conventional fuzzy logic controllers, this controller performs control task with no control rules at initial and creates control rules as control behavior goes on, and also modifies its control structure when uncertain disturbance is suspected. Selected parameters in the fuzzy logic controller are updated on-line by the gradient descent loaming algorithm based on the performance cost function. This control algorithm is applied to water level control of steam generator model developed by Lee, et al. The computer simulation results confirm good performance of this control algorithm in all power ranges. This control algorithm can be expected to be used for automatic control of feedwater control system in the nuclear power plant with digital instrumentation and control systems.

자동 크기 조절 회로와 Switched LC tank를 이용한 집적화된 저위상 잡음 다중 대역 0.13-um CMOS 전압 제어 발진기 (A Fully-Integrated Low Phase Noise Multi-Band 0.13-um CMOS VCO using Automatic Level Controller and Switched LC Tank)

  • 본 논문에서는 자동 크기 조절 회로 (Automatic Level Controller_ALC)와 switched LC tank를 이용한 집적화된 저위상 잡음 다중 대역 CMOS 전압 제어 발진기를 제안하였다. 제안된 전압 제어 발진기는 0.13-um CMOS 공정으로 설계되었다. Switched LC tank는 MOS 스위치를 이용하여 스위칭되는 한 쌍의 캐패시터와 두 쌍의 인덕터로 설계되었다. 이 구조를 이용하여 4개의 대역 (2.986 ${\sim}$ 3.161, 3.488 ${\sim}$ 3.763, 4.736 ${\sim}$ 5.093, 그리고 5.35 ${\sim}$ 5.887 GHz) 동작이 하나의 전압 제어 발진기를 통하여 이루어졌다. 1.2 V의 공급 전압을 갖는 전압 제어 발진기는 각각 2.986 GHz에서 -118.105 dBc/Hz @ 1 MHz, 5.887 GHz에서 -113.777 dBc/Hz @ 1 MHz의 위상 잡음을 갖는다. 줄어든 위상 잡음은 가장 넓은 주파수 조절 범위인 2.986 ${\sim}$ 5.887 GHz에서 대략 -1 ${\sim}$ -3 dBc/Hz @ 1 MHz이다. 전압 제어 발진기는 전체 주파수 대역에서 4.2 mW ${\sim}$ 5.4 mW의 전력을 소모한다.
