  • Prototype Switched Capacitor 4th order Low pass and Band Pass Filters were Realized and tested. Their capacitor values were determined by using automatic SCF design tool. Each filter was designed to operate in voiceband frequency, and practical solutions to improve its frequency characteristics were given. Experimental results show the validity of automatic SCF design program. Simulation and experimental results were fully compared and optimum design conditions were summarized.

  • This paper describes study results on the development of an automatic program for generating surface-panel grid for the aircraft optimal design. The aerodynamic analysis is combined into a PIDO tool in conjunction with a number of programs in order to integrate processes for the optimal design. Due to design optimization's iterative feature, it may require lots of time and cost. To relieve this problem, cost-reduction of computation time for aerodynamic analysis is pursued by using the Panel-method, and reduction of grid generation time by automating surface panelling.

  • The biggest challenge facing today manufacturing industry is better quality and high productivity. From an economic point of view, productivity is the most important parameter, as high productivity will reduce the cost. However, the customers of today are not only cost concerned, but also quality conscious. So high accuracy levels should also be achieved in the manufacturing process. This paper reports the development of a automatic design system based on AutoCAD program. This work is composed of three section that are design of top down menu, guide frame and gate lifter for water-gate programed by AutoLISP language and runned Windows system. The developed system ultimately generates the design for a water gate through AutoCAD program. In the design of the water gate, it needs about 23 hours with an expert, but this system can be only 80 seconds without an expert.

  • The roll Pass design is one of the most important processes to design the whole equipment of the rods and bars rolling system. In this study, the roll pass design program named TollRo(Rolling Factory Organizer) was developed. conventional methods to design roll pass were analyzed and a new algorithm to design the dimension of the intermediate groove was introduced. Object oriented programming technology was implemented in this design program. It comprises GUI(Graphic User Interface), function of automatic pass design, function of modifying pass schedule and database of material properties. The developed program can be used to design roll pass with consistency for the rods and bars rolling system. The man-hours for the whole design can be drastically reduced. The design parameters of rolling system can be extracted quickly by this program.

  • The primary object of this study was to develop the control algorithm and program for automatic submersible buoy which is free to move vertically within the water column by adjusting weight and buoyancy forces by air control. The experiment was performed to validate the usefulness of the program in the indoor water tank. In the experiment, the automatic submerging and surfacing of the buoy were controlled by water-pressure gauge and air control system. The buoy is raised by injecting compressed air from a compressor and then is lowered by releasing the air. The submerging and surfacing characteristics of the buoy calculated with the numerical model were similar to measurements obtained with the experiment. It was concluded that the algorithm and program could be useful in analyzing various parameters and submerging mechanisms required to design new type of automatic submersible fish cage system.

  • Various automatic temperature control systems have been used widely in Korea for the conservation of heating energy and the enhancement of thermal comfort in residential buildings. But the heating control performance for automatic temperature control systems extensively vary with the design and operational conditions of the heating system, the climate condition and others. It was introduced in this study a numerical calculation program package to analyze heating control characteristics of the automatic temperature control system. This package is able to analyze the room air temperature, return water temperature, supplied heating flux and flow rate, and so on. One the other hand, the simulation results were verified by comparing with the field test results.

  • Scaffolding system in the membrane LNG carrier is a steel structure composed of various pipe-shaped members connected by specific coupling devices. In this study, the automatic design program for scaffolding system in membrane LNG carrier has been developed. It enables user to arrange members easily considering design constraints and input variables such as size of tank, position of legs, level height and so on. In addition to that, it creates finite element analysis model with loading and boundary conditions automatically and carries out structural analysis. With post processor based a state-of-the-art computer graphics, users can easily check the results of structural analysis and make a report for structural safety of scaffolding system.

  • This paper is concerned on kinematic analysis and simulation of an automatic feeding mechanism subjected by the motion of a curvilinear inverse cam. The main objection is the development of computer-aided design (CAD) program for simulating the motion of the cam-feeding mechanism using computer-graphics. A computer program CACAFS (Computer-Aided Cam and Automatic Feeding System) is independent of computer hardware used. The program is also interactive using a menu-selection technique. As the second part of the paper for the motion simulation of the cam-feeding system, this paper discusses the state-of-art for CAD. The first part of the paper presents the algorithm to simulate the notion of the cam-feeding mechanism.

  • The objective of this study is to develop the expert system for R/C box culvert design. This program provided various functions to improve automatic design. The program is composed of five steps. The characteristics of each step are as follows; 1) Preprocessing Step, 2) Analysis Step, 3) View of Memberforce Step, 4) Postprocessing Step, 5) Printing of Design-Sheet Step. Finally, Expert System and Knowledge Database System is developed for the drawing of optimal R/C box-culvert design.
