Performance evaluations of discrete event system using Petri Nets (페트리 네트를 이용한 이산 사건 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • This paper present a performance evaluation method for Timed Place Petri Nets modeled by Live-and-Bounded Circuits (LB-circuits) through a bottom-up approach. The method can handle the case for the nets having common resources(CR). The target system is divided into the sub-systems by disconnecting the common Transition-Transition-Path(TTP) or Place-Place-Path (PPP) between sub-systems. The common PPP pattern is classified into Parallel Common Resource (PCR) and Sequential Common Resource (SCR) in detail for handling common resources. We evaluate the performance of each divided sub-system, and calculate the sub-systems affect on the performance of the whole system. The facts are generalized as a theorem. The developed theorem are applied into the performance evaluation of an automated assembly system shown in an example. All the results are verified by simulation.

  • The recently-developed automated vessels require a system which evaluates the operating condition of the ship at present position form weather information as well as sensors; forecasts the operation condition the sea state to come in foreseeable future ; and suggests the optimum course and speed for ship's sa-fety.   • As a way to build more efficient and intelligent container cranes for todays hub ports, communication networks are used to interconnect numerous sensors, actuators, controllers, and operator switches and consoles that are spatially distributed over a crane. Various signals such as sensor values and operator's commands are digitized and broadcast on the network instead of using separate wiring cables. This not only makes the design and manufacturing of a crane more efficient, but also easier implementation of intelligent control algorithms. This paper presents the performance evaluation of CAN(Controller Area Network), TTP(Time Triggered Protocol) and Byteflight that can be used for cranes. Through discrete event simulation, several important quantitative performance factors such as the probability of a transmission failure, average system delay (data latency) and maximum system delay have been evaluated.

According to a study, deck wetness, propeller racing, slamming. rolling, vertical acceleration, lateral acceleration, vertical bending moment at midship etc. were chosen as the factors for evaluating seakeeping performance. As a matter of act, there is no developing the hardware of a system which could consider all the factors on seakeeping performance. This study introduces a theoretical method which makes it possible to evaluate the seakeeping performance by applying a theory from reliability engineering, and thereby establishing a safety space. The author adopts rolling and pitching as the factors on seakeeping performance by clarifying the correlation of stochastic processes the factors presently adopted for evaluation system in consideration of the safety of human being, cargoes and the ship. This method of evaluation shall be of much use in developing the practical system of seakeeping performance of a ship in waves.

Assembly performance evaluation method for prefabricated steel structures using deep learning and k-nearest neighbors

  • This study proposes an automated assembly performance evaluation method for prefabricated steel structures (PSSs) using machine learning methods. Assembly component images were segmented using a modified version of the receptive field pyramid. By factorizing channel modulation and the receptive field exploration layers of the convolution pyramid, highly accurate segmentation results were obtained. After completing segmentation, the positions of the bolt holes were calculated using various image processing techniques, such as fuzzy-based edge detection, Hough's line detection, and image perspective transformation. By calculating the distance ratio between bolt holes, the assembly performance of the PSS was estimated using the k-nearest neighbors (kNN) algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed framework was validated using a 3D PSS printing model and a field test. The results indicated that this approach could recognize assembly components with an intersection over union (IoU) of 95% and evaluate assembly performance with an error of less than 5%.

  • Seismic performance evaluation of existing building usually needs much time and man power, especially in case of nonlinear analysis. Many data interaction steps for model transfer are needed and engineers should spend much time with simple works like data entry. Those time-consuming steps could be reduced by applying computerized and automated modules. In this study, computational platform for seismic performance evaluation was made with several computerized modules. StrAuto and floor load transfer module offers a path that can transfer most linear model data to nonlinear analysis model so that engineers can avoid a lot of repetitive work for input information for the nonlinear analysis model. And the new nonlinear property generator also helps to get the nonlinear data easily by importing data from structural design program. To evaluate the effect of developed modules on each stages, seismic performance evaluation of example building was carried out and the lead time was used for the quantitative evaluation.

  • 국내에서도 정보시스템 보안관리가 체계화되면서 보안컨설팅 분야가 중요한 분야로 대두되고 있다. 보안관리에서 핵심부문인 위험분석에 대한 연구는 진행되어 왔으나 국내환경에 적용하기 어려운 점이 많았다. 특히 정보시스템에 대한 분석기준과 정량화가 전무한 국내에서 외국산 위험분석 도구 등을 이용한 분석결과가 객관성을 갖기가 매우 어렵다. 따라서 위험분석 자동화 분석도구의 개발과 적용을 통하여 이러한 문제점을 고찰하고 국내 환경에서 위험분석을 실시할 수 있는 환경을 위하여 필요한 해결방안을 살펴보았다.

  • A unit-load automated guided vehicle system is considered in which a single vehicle is operated on a unidirectional path in a closed loop. The vehicle serves a manufacturing cell moving pallets from one station to another based on the "First-Encountered-First-Serve" dispatching rule. An approximation method is developed to compute the mean waiting time of an arbitrary pallet at each station. Extensive numerical experiments, performed for various problems, yield fairly good results in most of the cases compared with those obtained by simulation method.

  • Deep reasoning procedures are model-based, inferring single or multiple causes and/or timing relations from the knowledge of behavior of component models and their causal structure. The overall goal of this paper is to develop an automated deep reasoning methodology that exploits deep knowledge of structure and behavior of a system. We have proceeded by building a software environment that uses such knowledge to reason from advanced symbolic simulation techniques introduced by Chi and Zeigler. Such reasoning system has been implemented and tested on several examples in the domain of performance evaluation, and event-based control.

Cycle Time Evaluation of Automated Storage and Retrieval System for Heavy Loads (중량물 적재를 위한 자동창고의 주기시간 평가)

  • In this paper, a model is presented to estimate a cycle time for completing an operation in a new type of AS/RS which can handle very heavy loads by separating the mechnisms for vertical and horizontal movements. Considering loading/unloading time between devices, we generalize the previous work, Hu et al. [9], which neglected the transfer time. Through the numerical experiments for various situations, we find that the difference of the cycle times between two models is fairly large and conclude that the transfer time between devices cannot be neglected at all.
