MPEG-4 IPMP Authoring Tool for Protection and Management of Digital Contents

  • The MPEG-4 standard is aimed to define an object based audiovisual coding standard to address the emerging needs from interactive broadcasting. Since a broadcasting program is created on the basis of its objects, it is considered that MPEG-4 is most suitable for interactive broadcasting contents production and it can be retrieved in terms of its properties. But, there is no system that protects the copyright of digital contents and manages copyright and possibility that contents producer and author's copyright receives infringement at process that exchange contents mutually rose very. Therefore, we need to control and distribute contents according to user's permission rights. In this paper, we present the authoring system based on MPEG-4 IPMP for copyright and protection of MPEG-4 contents. The main features of the proposed approach is to provide an MPEG-4 compliant IPMP authoring system in a plug-in type along with standardized interfaces, which is to be able to incorporated into an existing MPEG-4 content authoring system. In this way, it is capable of authoring content to the MP4 file format while accommodating protection and management of content in a unified way. Furthermore, it also allows a user to edit and/or author IPMP information in a more efficient way by offering form based user interfaces.

EFL College Students' Learning Experiences during Film-based Reading Class: Focused on the Analysis of Students' Reflective Journals

  • In the age of information, newly produced knowledge is mostly written in English. Therefore, there has been a strong demand for English language learning in the EFL context. However, most EFL learners possess a lack of interest and motivation in the text-based reading class. In this educational context, film is one of the most widely used materials in English reading classes considering that modern learners are predominantly familiar with various audiovisual materials. The purpose of this study is to investigate how Korean EFL learners experienced in the film-based reading class. Specifically, this study aims to analyze the EFL students' perceptions about the class and learning strategies that they used during the class. In order to comprehensively interpret the EFL learners' experiences in the classroom, a coding system consisting of five categories was developed: report, emotion, reflection, evaluation, future plans. The results of data analysis showed that the use of movies in English reading classes had positive effects on reading comprehension and inference of word meaning. The most frequently used learning strategies were affective strategies which helped them control their emotion, attitude, motivations and values, whereas memorization strategies were rarely used. In this respect, this study suggests that the use of movies in the EFL reading classroom encourage students' attention and help them obtain and activate schema which is useful in gaining a better understanding of text-based reading materials.

  • MPEG-4 컨텐츠는 다양한 시청각 객체들로 구성되고, 사용자 상호작용에 대한 정의를 포함하여 동적인 씬 구성과 변화를 가능하게 한다. 또한 시청각 씬을 컨텐츠 단위로 표현하기 위해서 씬을 기술하는 디스크립션을 가진다. 이것은 씬을 구성하는 각 멀티미디어 객체들의 시공간적인 위치와 그들 사이의 관계를 표현하는 기술 언어이다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 씬의 시공간적 관계를 시각적으로 저작할 수 있는 환경을 제공하고 이를 MPEG-4 씬 디스크립션, 객체 디스크립터 등의 스트리밍 MPEG-4 컨텐츠로 자동 생성하는 MPEG-4 컨텐츠 저작 시스템을 제안하고 그 개발 결과를 보인다.

학습동기이론 기반의 초등학생 재난안전 교육을 위한 보드게임 설계 (Board Game Design for Disaster Safety Education for Elementary School Students Based on Learning Motivation Theory)

  • In order to improve safety consciousness due to the increase in disasters and safety accidents, safety education is necessary to prepare for disasters with interest in safety. This study is a board game design for disaster safety education for elementary school students based on Keller's learning motivation theory. By considering the school safety curriculum and the safety education contents of the School Safety Mutual Aid Association and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the content and goals of learning were derived and the order of learning was determined. When designing game content, the fun elements of the game were applied to Keller's learning motivation inducing factors such as attention concentration (A), relevance (R), confidence (C), satisfaction (S), and educational game design elements to induce the achievement of learning goals at the game planning stage. It is expected that the existing safety education focusing on lecture-style and audiovisual will be supplemented and used in the educational field.

  • 데스크톱 다큐멘터리는 카메라로 촬영하는 대신 인터넷 오픈 아카이브에서 검색하고 선택한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 재료로 컴퓨터 인터페이스 상에서 그것을 재조합하는 창작자의 멀티태스킹 과정 자체를 스크린 캡쳐 기술을 사용해 녹화하여 완성하는 새로운 다큐멘터리 양식이다. 본 논문에서는 뉴 미디어 환경에서 잠재적 아카이브를 데이터 베이스 내러티브로 전환하고, 영화적 미장센을 컴퓨터 미장인터페이스로 바꾸며, 의식의 흐름을 통한 큐레이션으로서의 창작 메커니즘을 통해 창작과 비평의 경계를 오가는 메타-시네마이자 뉴 미디어 아트의 실험적 시도로서, 주류 호러 영화의 새로운 혼성 장르적 시도로서, 극영화 창작의 새로운 방식으로서, 새로운 모큐멘터리적 시도로서, 그리고 창작과 비평의 경계를 오가는 비디오 에세이와 비평 영화의 새로운 양식으로서 2010년대를 기점으로 부상하고 있는 데스크톱 다큐멘터리의 개념과 유형 및 특성을 연구한다.

어깨재활운동 융합프로그램이 어깨수술 후 통증, 관절운동범위 및 운동자기효능감에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Shoulder Rehabilitation Exercise Convergence Program on Pain, Range of Motion and Exercise Self-efficacy After Shoulder Surgery)

  • 본 연구목적은 어깨재활운동 융합프로그램의 효과를 확인하기 위함이다. 비동등성 대조군 전후설계에 따라 어깨수술환자 58명을 연구대상으로 하였다. 실험군에게는 동영상교육, 어깨재활운동 및 운동모니터링으로 구성한 어깨재활운동 융합프로그램을 적용하였다. 자료는 구조화된 질문지와 어깨관절운동범위를 측정하여 수집하였으며 기술통계, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test 및 ANCOVA로 분석하였다. 연구결과 실험군의 어깨통증은 대조군보다 유의하게 낮았으며(p<.001), 어깨관절운동범위와 운동자기효능감은 대조군보다 유의하게 높았다(p=.038; p<.001). 그러므로 어깨재활운동 융합프로그램은 어깨수술환자를 위한 효과적인 재활중재로 활용될 수 있으며 다양한 임상실무영역에서 지속적인 융합중재개발의 확장이 요구된다.

뉴스 비디오 시퀀스에서 텍스트 시작 프레임 검출 방법의 비교 (Comparison of Text Beginning Frame Detection Methods in News Video Sequences)

  • Overlay texts are artificially superimposed on the broadcasting videos by human producers. These texts provide additional information to the audiovisual content. Especially, the overlay texts in news video contain concise and direct description of the content. Therefore, it is most reliable clue for constructing a news video indexing system. To make this indexing system in the TV news program, it is important to detect and recognize the texts. This paper proposes the identification of the overlay text beginning frame to help the detection and recognition of the overlay text in news videos. Since all frames in the video sequences do not contain the overlay texts, the overlay text extraction from every frame is unnecessary and time-wasting. Therefore, to focus on only the frame containing the overlay text can be enhanced the accuracy of the overlay text detection. The comparative experiments of the text beginning frame identification methods were carried out with respect to Korean television news videos. Then the appropriate processing method is proposed.

교통약자용 무료 셔틀버스 실내의 물리적 환경 특성 예비연구 - 노인의 특성을 중심으로 - (A Preliminary Study on the Physical Environment Characteristics of Free Shuttle Bus Interior for Vulnerable Pedestrian. - Focusing on the Characteristics of the Elderly -)

  • This study analyzed the characteristics of Physical Environment of existing free shuttle bus Interior centered on elderly people who frequently use free shuttle buses. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data that can be used for improvement of existing free shuttle buses. In the case of the old type, in terms of accessible design, the middle entrance is not normally opened except the wheelchair occupant, so that the entrance of the front wheel is always used. Therefore, most elderly people go to the back seat and travel distance is twice longer. In addition, many stairs caused frequent inconveniences for boarding. In the case of the new type, it is planned to be a low-floor type, and various types of safety rods and handles, pictograms for enhancing the information convenience are well-equipped, and the measured value of the overall design characteristic is high. However, in the case of mental stability, it was confirmed that the seat of the bus is colored with a cold color system and is in a different relationship with the warm color which can feel mental stability. Overall, both old and new shuttle buses lack audiovisual feedback on bus routes and route guidance in terms of Supportive design. Also, since the cleaning tools and other miscellaneous items were left in the room, it became an obstacle to space utilization in terms of adaptable design. In terms of safety, both shuttle buses did not come into view with fire extinguishers shaded by miscellaneous items. Therefore, immediate action is unlikely in case of emergency. This problem should be resolved quickly.

Electroencephalography for the diagnosis of brain death

  • Electroencephalography (EEG) is frequently used to assist the diagnosis of brain death. However, to date there have been no guidelines in terms of EEG criteria for determining brain death in Korea, despite EEG being mandatory. The purpose of this review is to provide an update on the evidence and controversies with regarding to the utilization of EEG for determining brain death and to serve as a cornerstone for the development of future guidelines. To determine brain death, electrocerebral inactivity (ECI) should be demonstrated on EEG at a sensitivity of $2{\mu}V/mm$ using double-distance electrodes spaced 10 centimeters or more apart from each other for at least 30 minutes, with intense somatosensory or audiovisual stimuli. ECI should be also verified by checking the integrity of the system. Additional monitoring is needed if extracerebral potentials cannot be eliminated. Interpreting EEG at high sensitivities, which is required for the diagnosis of brain death, can pose a diagnostic challenge. Furthermore, EEG is affected by physiologic variables and drugs. However, no consensus exists as to the minimal requirements for blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and body temperature during the EEG recording itself, the minimal time for observation after the brain injury or rewarming from hypothermia, and how to determine brain death when the findings of ECI is equivocal. Therefore, there is a strong need to establish detailed guidelines for performing EEG to determine brain death.

방사선치료 안내동영상 제작 (Producing Radiotherapy Guidance Movie for patients)

  • Objectives: This video has been produced to provide better awareness for our patients about radiotherapy treatment for anxiety and stress. This video will give inexperienced patients a better understanding of the processes and expectations of the radiotherapy. We have produced a radiotherapy guidance video regarding work flow and a method of radiotherapy to relieve anxiety and stress. It also improves patients satisfaction and understanding of radiotherapy to provide a high-quality health care for radiotherapy patients with indirect experience. Methods: We have evaluated the effectiveness of the video compared to our existing verbal method. See below for the evaluation criteria; 1) Patients satisfaction rate of guidance 2) a comparison of understanding of radiotherapy 3) a comparison of a time of education for patients 4) a researching of an incidence rate of radiotherapy. Results: When compared to the verbal explanation the patients had a increased level of understanding of the radiotherapy treatment. The time to educate patient was decreased and the level of incidents during the treatment was decreased due to the patient having a better understanding of the whole process. Conclusion : In conclusion, the audiovisual education increased the understanding of radiotherapy for patients compared to verbal education. The video also helped patients to cooperate in treatment room so we can provide premium radiotherapy treatment. By reducing the treatment time and education processa we improved the patients overall experience.
