  • In this paper, we describe the synthesis of robust and non-fragile $H^{\infty}$ state feedback controllers for linear systems with affine parameter uncertainties, as well as a static state feedback controller with poly topic uncertainty. The sufficient condition of controller existence, the design method of robust and non-fragile $H^{\infty}$ static state feedback controller with fuzzy compensator, and the region of controllers that satisfies non-fragility are presented. We show that the resulting controller guarantees the asymptotic stability and disturbance attenuation of the closed loop system in spite of controller gain variations within a resulted polytopic region.

  • In this paper, a control problem of the Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy system with time-varying input delay is considered. It is well known that the delay is one of the major sources responsible for the instability of the controlled system. A systematic design technique is developed based on the Lyapunov-Razumikhin stability theorem. A sufficient condition for the global asymptotic stability of the TS fuzzy systems is formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The derived condition can deal with any time-varying input delay within the admissible bound. The effectiveness of the proposed controller design technique is demonstrated by a numerical simulation.

  • This paper presents the robust stability condition of uncertain Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy systems with time-varying delay. New augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii function is constructed to ensure that the system with time-varying delay is globally asymptotically stable. Also, less conservative delay-dependent stability criteria are obtained by employing some integral inequality, reciprocally convex approach and new delay-partitioning method. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose a singular perturbation-like approach to EDFA gain controller design and analysis. Considering a three-level model of EDFA, a gain controller containing a state observer and a channel add/drop estimator is designed based on a singular perturbation - like concept. The proposed design methodology is shown to be effective and advantageous not only in theoretically verifying the asymptotic stability of systems with multi-time scales such as EDFA but also in designing an asymptotic estimator for channel add/drops which does not satisfy the matching condition.

  • This paper is concerned with non-fragile guaranteed cost state feedback controller design algorithm for descriptor systems with time-varying delay and static state feedback controller with multiplicative uncertainty. The considered uncertainties are norm-bounded and time delay is time-varying. Under the condition of controller gain variations, conditions for the existence of controller satisfying asymptotic stability and non-fragility and controller design method are derived via LMI approach. Moreover, the measure of non-fragility and the upper bound to minimize guaranteed cost function are given.

  • This paper presents an adaptive receding horizon H$_{\infty}$ controller for the linear parameter varying systems in the deterministic environment, which combines a parameter range estimator and a robust receding horizon H$_{\infty}$ controller using the parameter bounds. Using parameter set inclusion and terminal inequality condition, the closed-loop system stability is guaranteed. It is shown that the stabilizing adaptive receding horizon H$_{\infty}$ controller guarantees the H$_{\infty}$ norm bound.

  • This paper deals with the problem of designing a linear sliding surface design for a class of uncertain systems with mismatched unstructured uncertainties. The uncertain system under consideration may have mismatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. In terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), we give a sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surfaces guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics. We show that our LMI condition can be less conservative than the existing conditions and our result supplement the existing results. Finally, we give a numerical example showing that our method can be better than the previous results.

  • In this paper, a fuzzy controller is designed to suppress and stabilize the chaotic behavior of Chua's circuit. This controller is constructed by the following two phases. First, Chua's circuit is represented by an affine fuzzy model. Second, a fuzzy controller is designed so that the stability of the closed-loop system composed of the fuzzy controller and the affine fuzzy model of Chua's circuit is rigorously guaranteed. The stability condition of the affine fuzzy system is derived and is recast in the formulation of linear matrix inequalities. The guaranteed stability is global and asymptotic. Finally, the applicability of the suggested methodology is highlighted via computer simulations.

  • This paper presents a motion coordination of two robot manipulators coordinating an object. To coordinate the object, a force/position control scheme in a mode of leaer/follower is devised. The dynamics of the object are incorporated into the dynamics of the leader arm, which yields a reduced order model of two arm system. In order to regulate interaction forces between two arm, the dynamics of the follower arm are expressed as force dynamic equations such that a novel direct forces between two arms and two different type of bounded input disturbances, boundedness and asymptotic stability results based on a proposed Lyapunov function are shown. Also, a sufficient condition for a stability robustness is derived based on the Lyapunov approach.

  • A simple new sufficient condition for asymptotic stability of the positive linear time-varying discrete-time systems, with unstructured time-varying uncertainty in delayed states, is established in this paper Compared with previous results that cannot be applied to time-varying systems; the time-varying system and delay time are considered simultaneously in this paper. The proposed conditions are compared with suitable conditions for the typical discrete-time systems. The considerations are illustrated by numerical examples of previous work.
