  • Air purifiers can be placed where the air cleaning is required, making it easy to manage indoor air quality. The position of the air purifier affects the indoor airflow pattern, resulting in different air cleaning efficiency. Many efforts and strategies have been examined through numerical simulations and experiments to find the proper location of the air purifier, but problems still remain due to the various geometrical indoor spaces and arrangements. Herein, we develop an artificial intelligence model to predict the performance of an air purifier depending on the installation location. To obtain the training data, numerical simulations were performed on the different locations of the air purifiers and airflow patterns. The trained artificial intelligence model predicted the air exchange performance depending on the installation location of the air purifier with a prediction accuracy of 92%.

  • Recently, interest in artificial intelligence has increased due to the development of artificial intelligence fields such as ChatGPT and self-driving cars. However, there are still many unknown elements in training process of artificial intelligence, so that optimizing the model requires more time and effort than it needs. Therefore, there is a need for a tool or methodology that can analyze the weight changes during the training process of artificial intelligence and help out understatnding those changes. In this research, I propose a visualization system which helps people to understand the accumulated weight changes. The system calculates the weights for each training period to accumulates weight changes and stores accumulated weight changes to plot them in 3D space. This research will allow us to explore different aspect of artificial intelligence learning process, such as understanding how the model get trained and providing us an indicator on which hyperparameters should be changed for better performance. These attempts are expected to explore better in artificial intelligence learning process that is still considered as unknown and contribute to the development and application of artificial intelligence models.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to measure the accumulated status of scrap boxes where metal scraps are accumulated. The accumulated status measuring is defined as a multi-class classification problem, and the method with deep learning classify the accumulated status using only the scrap box image. The learning was conducted by the Transfer Learning method, and the deep learning model was NASNet-A. In order to improve the accuracy of the model, we combined the Random Forest classifier with the trained NASNet-A and improved the model through post-processing. Testing with 4,195 data collected in the field showed 55% accuracy when only NASNet-A was applied, and the proposed method, NASNet with Random Forest, improved the accuracy by 88%.

  • Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer related death among women. So prediction of overall survival status is important into decided in adjuvant treatment. Deep belief network is a kind of artificial intelligence (AI). We intended to construct prediction model by deep belief network using associated clinicopathologic factors. 103881 cases were found in the Korean Breast Cancer Registry. After preprocessing of data, a total of 15733 cases were enrolled in this study. The median follow-up period was 82.4 months. In univariate analysis for overall survival (OS), the patients with advanced AJCC stage showed relatively high HR (HR=1.216 95% CI: 0.011-289.331, p=0.001). Based on results of univariate and multivariate analysis, input variables for learning model included 17 variables associated with overall survival rate. output was presented in one of two states: event or cencored. Individual sensitivity of training set and test set for predicting overall survival status were 89.6% and 91.2% respectively. And specificity of that were 49.4% and 48.9% respectively. So the accuracy of our study for predicting overall survival status was 82.78%. Prediction model based on Deep belief network appears to be effective in predicting overall survival status and, in particular, is expected to be applicable to decide on adjuvant treatment after surgical treatment.

  • Semi-supervised learning is a good way to train a classification model using a small number of labeled and large number of unlabeled data. We applied semi-supervised learning to a synthetic aperture radar(SAR) image classification model with a limited number of datasets that are difficult to create. To address the previous difficulties, semi-supervised learning uses a model trained with a small amount of labeled data to generate and learn pseudo labels. Besides, a lot of number of papers use a single fixed threshold to create pseudo labels. In this paper, we present a semi-supervised synthetic aperture radar(SAR) image classification method that applies different thresholds for each class instead of all classes sharing a fixed threshold to improve SAR classification performance with a small number of labeled datasets.

  • Education is a field that has tried to make use of the advantages of computers since they were introduced to the world. Intelligent Tutoring System and multimedia have become methods of teaching students of Computer Science, Education, Psychology, and Cognitive Science. Until now, they have been designed and produced only on the basis of a very specific domain and format. However, in the education field, most learners ask for integrated service that is practical, realizable, and sensitive to technological change. Therefore, in this study, we would like to present the technological and formal integration model as an ITS model which acknowledges changes in the fields of technology and education. As a technological integration model, the integration model of traditional Symbolic Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Neural Networks was presented. As a formal integration model, three integration models were presented according to (a) the process of learning diagnosis (b) learners' action behaviors (c) intelligence service respectively.

  • The rapid and accurate prediction of storm-surge height during typhoon attacks is essential in responding to coastal disasters. Most methods used for predicting typhoon data are based on numerical modeling, but numerical modeling takes significant computing resources and time. Recently, various studies on the expeditious production of predictive data based on artificial intelligence have been conducted, and in this study, artificial intelligence-based storm-surge height prediction was performed. Several learning data were needed for artificial intelligence training. Because the number of previous typhoons was limited, many synthesized typhoons were created using the tropical cyclone risk model, and the storm-surge height was also generated using the storm surge model. The comparison of the storm-surge height predicted using artificial intelligence with the actual typhoon, showed that the root-mean-square error was 0.09 ~ 0.30 m, the correlation coefficient was 0.65 ~ 0.94, and the absolute relative error of the maximum height was 1.0 ~ 52.5%. Although errors appeared to be somewhat large at certain typhoons and points, future studies are expected to improve accuracy through learning-data optimization.

  • Recently the incorporation of artificial intelligence approaches in the field of software engineering has been one of the big topics. In the world, there are actively studying in two directions: 1) software engineering for artificial intelligence and 2) artificial intelligence for software engineering. We attempt to apply artificial intelligence to software engineering to identify and refactor bad code module areas. To learn the patterns of bad code elements well, we must have many datasets with bad code elements labeled correctly for artificial intelligence in this task. The current problems have insufficient datasets for learning and can not guarantee the accuracy of the datasets that we collected. To solve this problem, when collecting code data, bad code data is collected only for code module areas with high-complexity, not the entire code. We propose a method for exploring common weakness enumeration by learning the collected dataset based on transfer learning of the CodeBERT model. The CodeBERT model learns the corresponding dataset more about common weakness patterns in code. With this approach, we expect to identify common weakness patterns more accurately better than one in traditional software engineering.

  • With the launch of Artificial Intelligence(AI)-based intelligent products on the market, innovative changes are taking place not only in business but also in consumers' daily lives. Intelligent products have the potential to realize technology differentiation and increase market competitiveness through advanced functions of artificial intelligence. However, there is no new product development methodology that can sufficiently reflect the characteristics of artificial intelligence for the purpose of developing intelligent products with high market acceptance. This study proposes a KANO-QFD integrated model as a methodology for intelligent product development. As a specific example of the empirical analysis, the types of consumer requirements for hair loss prediction and treatment device were classified, and the relative importance and priority of engineering characteristics were derived to suggest the direction of intelligent medical product development. As a result of a survey of 130 consumers, accurate prediction of future hair loss progress, future hair loss and improved future after treatment realized and viewed on a smartphone, sophisticated design, and treatment using laser and LED combined light energy were realized as attractive quality factors among the KANO categories. As a result of the analysis based on House of Quality of QFD, learning data for hair loss diagnosis and prediction, micro camera resolution for scalp scan, hair loss type classification model, customized personal account management, and hair loss progress diagnosis model were derived. This study is significant in that it presented directions for the development of artificial intelligence-based intelligent medical product that were not previously preceded.

  • The prediction of algal bloom is an important field of study in algal bloom management, and chlorophyll-a concentration(Chl-a) is commonly used to represent the status of algal bloom. In, recent years advanced machine learning algorithms are increasingly used for the prediction of algal bloom. In this study, XGBoost(XGB), an ensemble machine learning algorithm, was used to develop a model to predict Chl-a in a reservoir. The daily observation of water quality data and climate data was used for the training and testing of the model. In the first step of the study, the input variables were clustered into two groups(low and high value groups) based on the observed value of water temperature(TEMP), total organic carbon concentration(TOC), total nitrogen concentration(TN) and total phosphorus concentration(TP). For each of the four water quality items, two XGB models were developed using only the data in each clustered group(Model 1). The results were compared to the prediction of an XGB model developed by using the entire data before clustering(Model 2). The model performance was evaluated using three indices including root mean squared error-observation standard deviation ratio(RSR). The model performance was improved using Model 1 for TEMP, TN, TP as the RSR of each model was 0.503, 0.477 and 0.493, respectively, while the RSR of Model 2 was 0.521. On the other hand, Model 2 shows better performance than Model 1 for TOC, where the RSR was 0.532. Explainable artificial intelligence(XAI) is an ongoing field of research in machine learning study. Shapley value analysis, a novel XAI algorithm, was also used for the quantitative interpretation of the XGB model performance developed in this study.
