It is needed to use the beam scanning to control the cell coverage of the base station considering operation conditions, season, time period, radiation character and mobility of customers and vehicles for varied wireless communication service and quality improvement. This paper proposes a mobile antenna system which can obtain the characteristics of the beam scanning by controlling the directivity depending on the operation condition. Radiation block is made of 2 sub-array of $1\times3$ patched antennas for ITS of 5.8GHZ bandwidth with the gain of 13dBi, and of 2 sub-array of single patched antenna for WiBro of 2.3GHZ bandwidth with the gain of 12dBi. RF module is made of a switch, an amplifier, a PAD, a 3-Bit phase shifter, and a power divider. The system is able to control the beam tilting with electronic methode by using 3-bit phase shifter$(45^{\circ},\;90^{\circ},\;180^{\circ})$.
A Doppler radar is a radar using the doppler effect of the returned echoes from targets to measure their radial velocity. To be more specific the microwave signal sent by the radar antenna's directional beam is reflected toward the radar and compared in frequency, up or down from the original signal, allowing for the direct and highly accurate measurement of target velocity component in the direction of the beam. In this paper, we designed the doppler radar composed of 10.5 GHz band DROs(Dielectric Resonator Oscillator), $90^{\circ}C$ branch line coupler, single balanced mixer and $4{\times}4$ array antenna of high gain, high directivity, for non-contact type hydrometer. Fabricated Doppler radar can detect slow moving objects.

Many of the modern radar antennas operated in the X-band frequencies are made of the slotted waveguides. Varying the distances between the slots and the skew angles of the each slot, we can synthesize a very sharp fan-beam as well as maintaining low standing wave ratio. This paper deals with the design data of the above antennas. We made a slotted array antenna with the data and measured the antenna parameters. And these were compared with the calculated values.
This paper proposes a single-RF MIMO receiver that adopts a beam-switching antenna (BSA) instead of a conventional array antenna. The beauty of the proposed single-RF MIMO receiver with BSA is that it can be deployed in a very small physical space while achieving a full spatial multiplexing gain. Our analysis has revealed that the use of a BSA inevitably results in the spectrum spreading effect at the RF output, which in turn causes an SNR decrease and adjacent channel interference (ACI). Two novel receiver techniques are proposed to mitigate the issues of redundant sub-band suppression and ACI avoidance. Numerical analysis results verify the performance improvement from the proposed receiver techniques.
In this paper, the reverse link performance of an imperfect power controlled DS/CDMA cellular system that uses a base station array antenna which can effectively remove the multiple access interference is analyzed considering both beam forming algorithm and power control error in shadowing. The blocking probability of the DS/CDMA cellular system based on array parameters, Eb/No and statistics of interference is derived, and then the system capacity corresponding to a certain blocking probability is calculated. On the assumption that the blocking probability is set 1 %, the system capacity using MCGM algorithm with 12 antenna arrays is increased about 59 % than that using 8 antenna arrays when power control error is 2.5 ㏈.

This paper deals with extending the variable natural oscillation frequency range of an active integrated FET oscillator. In this paper, we conform experimentally that the variable range of the natural oscillation frequency is expanded about three times in the oscillator controlled by the varactor diode. When the frequency difference is given to the oscillators in the two element antenna system, phase difference appeared between the oscillators. The 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-element patch antenna arrays are composed for the beam scanning experiments. All the above patch antennas show good phased array characteristics. The range of the scanning angle is about $30^{\circ}$, and the radiation power is gradually increased from $50{\mu}W\;to\;200{\mu}W$. The radiation patterns we sharpened as the number of elements is increased.
In this paper, we present theoretical designs for a beam steering phased array antenna that uses a true time delay optical feeder. A variable true time delay is achieved by employing one tunable laser source and high dispersion fibers with different length. The wavelength tunable optical carrier propagation in a high-dipersion fiber realizes a true time delay, with the steering direction set by a single voltage controlling the wavelength. Beamsteering of a phased array antenna is obtained by controlling the tunable laser source. An employment of a high dispersion fiber response shows wide-band operation of beem steering antenna system.

A microstrip polarized 8${\times}$2 linear phased array antenna with four 4-bit phase shifters is designed at 10 GHz. The 180$^{\circ}$and 90$^{\circ}$ sections of the phase shifter are of the switched line type, and the rests are of the loaded line type. A 2${\times}$2 sequential sub-array is adopted for a broad axial ratio bandwidth. The construction of the array antenna is of the tile type placing the phase shifters on the same layer containing the feed network. The element spacing is chosen to be 0.45λ$\sub$0/ to exclude the grating lobe. Measurement results show a gain 9.69 dB at broadside and 8.3 dB at the beam-tilt angle of 16$^{\circ}$ by imposing a progressive phase of 90$^{\circ}$.
The phased array antenna has the ability to perform adaptive sampling by directing the radar beam without inertia in any direction. The adaptive sampling capability of the phased array antenna allows each sampling time interval to be varied for each target, depending on the acceleration of each target at any time. In this paper we design a three-dimensional adaptive tracking algorithm for the phased array radar system with a given set of measurement parameters. The tracking algorithm avoids taking unnecessarily frequent samples, while keeping the angular prediction error within a fraction of antenna beamwidth so that the probability of detection will not be degraded during a track update illuminations. In our algorithm, the target model and the sampling rate are selected depending on the target range and the target maneuver status which is determined by a maneuver detector. A detailed simulation is conducted to test the validity of our tracking algorithm for encounter geometries under various conditions of maneuver.

In this paper, we propose an equivalent model of array antennas that use open-ended waveguides for effective EM simulation. We first investigate an individual element that consists of an open-ended waveguide and square ground plane. The waveguide length, aperture size, and ground size of the individual element are adjusted to give a similar radiation pattern to that of the individual element of the original antenna. We then apply the designed equivalent model to two different types of array antennas, such as a microstrip patch array and a waveguide array antenna. Comparison of the simulation results using the equivalent model with the results obtained with the original antenna reveals a difference in gain of less than 0.2 dB and a difference in half power beam width(HPBW) of less than $1^{\circ}$. The designed equivalent model is then mounted on a simple aircraft, and the simulation results are again compared to results from the original antenna. We find a 60 % reduction in simulation resources and time when compared with the original antenna model.
