아동문학과 영어교육-텍스트 활용 방안에 대한 연구 (Children's Literature in Teaching English As a Foreign Language: A Study of Literary Text Application)

  • This study proposes using children's literature as a means of teaching and learning English as a foreign language and suggests practical strategies on the basis of transactional theory of reading suggested by Rosenblatt (1994, 1995). This study suggests three novels written for children or young adults: On My Honor (1986) by Marion Dane Bauer, The Giver (1993) by Lois Lowry and Hatchet (1987) by Gary Paulsen. These texts were selected because of their diverse topics, easy and comprehensible language, engaging stories, and authentic and rich expressions, making them effective materials for foreign language learners. This paper is organized as follows: First, it reviews research on teaching literature in English education and response-oriented language teaching to provide theoretical background of literature-based language teaching and learning. Second, it provides the background of the texts selected for the study. Third, it develops diverse, practical strategies for instructors who intend to use children's literature in EFL teaching. We expect to guide EFL instructors in adopting children's literature in their English class by connecting theory and practice and by providing diverse methods and strategies, and sample responses by EFL university students.

스마트카드 기반의 전력원격검침 프레임워크 (Smart Card based Framework for Electricity AMR)

  • 전력검침은 전력 사용요금을 부과하기 위하여 전력사용량을 측정하는 행위를 말하며, 이를 자동화한 시스템을 전력원격검침(AMR: Automatic Meter Reading)이라 한다. 전력원격검침은 검침 인력을 시스템으로 대체해 원가를 줄이고 고객 서비스를 강화할 수 있는 시스템으로 부각되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 전력원격검침 모델의 대안으로 스마트카드 기반의 전력원격검침 프레임워크 SCEMS를 제안하고 구현하였다. 제안된 SCEMS 프레임워크는 자바카드 기반의 다기능 스마트카드를 사용하며, 스마트카드에 수집된 자료와 가구의 전력사용 패턴을 활용하여 다양한 요금제를 지원하는 등의 고객서비스를 제공한다. 제안된 원격검침 모델 연구는 전력산업의 환경변화에서 초래할 다원화, 이질화, 복합화에 대한 해결방안이 될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

  • There is a growing concern in reducing greenhouse gas emissions all over the world. The U.K. has set 34% target reduction of emission before 2020 and 80% before 2050 compared to 1990 recently in Post Copenhagen Report on Climate Change. In practise, Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools have been introduced to construction industry in order to achieve this such as. However, there is clear a disconnection between costs and environmental impacts over the life cycle of a built asset when using these two tools. Besides, the changes in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) lead to a change in the way information is represented, in particular, information is being fed more easily and distributed more quickly to different stakeholders by the use of tool such as the Building Information Modelling (BIM), with little consideration on incorporating LCC and LCA and their maximised usage within the BIM environment. The aim of this paper is to propose the development of a model-based LCC and LCA tool in order to provide sustainable building design decisions for clients, architects and quantity surveyors, by then an optimal investment decision can be made by studying the trade-off between costs and environmental impacts. An application framework is also proposed finally as the future work that shows how the proposed model can be incorporated into the BIM environment in practise.

Information and Communication Technologies for Smart Water Grid Applications

  • The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is the key to operate a change from the traditional manual reading of water meters and sensors to an automated system where high frequency data is remotely collected and analyzed in real time, one of the main components of a Smart Water Grid. The recent boom of ICT offers a wide range of both wired and wireless technologies to achieve this objective. We review and present in this article the most widely recognized technologies and protocols along with their respective advantages, drawbacks and applicability range which can be Home Area Network (HAN), Building Area Network (BAN) or Local/Neighborhood Area Network (LAN/NAN). We also present our findings and we give recommendations on the application of ICT in Smart Water Grids and future work needed.

선재 공정에서 C-Hook 트래킹을 위한 RFID 시스템 적용에 대한 연구 (A study on application of RFID systems for tracking of C-Hook in the wire rods process)

  • Wire rods are carried by C-Hooks and are tracked by bringing the inspection sensors into contact with steel bars on the C-Hooks. However, the conventional system using mechanical equipment is not reliable due to aging, wearing and bending of steel bars. To overcome these problems, a non-contact type identification system is required. This paper introduces the radio frequency identification(RFID) technology which is one of the most popular non-contact identification methods, and evaluates its performance in the real environment of POSCO. Specifically, we use tags which are designed for operating on high temperature and allowing easy attaching and detaching on the C-Hook. A new monitoring program is developed for reacting upon the conventional system and showing the results of reading of reading tags.

2009 개정 초등학교와 중학교 과학 교과서의 화학 영역 및 화학 I, II 교과서의 읽기자료 분석 (Analysis of the Reading Materials in the Chemistry Domain of Elementary School Science and Middle School Science Textbooks and Chemistry I and II Textbooks Developed Under the 2009 Revised National Science Curriculum)

  • 이 연구에서는 2009 개정 과학교육과정에 따른 초등학교와 중학교 과학 교과서의 화학 영역 및 화학 I, II 교과서의 읽기자료를 분석하였다. 읽기자료는 주제, 목적, 제시 형식, 학생 활동 유형 측면에서 분석하였다. 읽기자료에 사용된 시각자료도 유형, 역할, 캡션과 인덱스, 텍스트와의 근접성 등의 측면에서 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 초등학교 과학 교과서가 중학교 과학과 화학 I, II 교과서보다 읽기자료 비율이 높았다. 초등학교 과학 교과서에는 실생활 응용 유형의 읽기자료가 많았으나, 중학교 과학과 화학 I, II 교과서에는 과학 지식 유형이 상대적으로 많았다. 초등학교 과학 교과서에는 개념 심화 유형의 읽기자료가 상대적으로 많았고 중학교 과학과 화학 I, II 교과서에는 개념 보충 유형의 읽기자료가 상대적으로 많았다. 읽기자료에 사용된 시각자료는 대부분 사진이나 삽화였고, 본문 보조나 본문 부연 역할의 시각자료가 많았고, 캡션이나 인덱스를 사용하지 않은 시각자료가 많았으며, 시각자료와 텍스트 사이의 근접성에도 문제점이 나타났다.

A Strategy Bayesian Model to Predict Profit of Construction Projects

  • Competitive bidding in construction is concerned with contractors making strategic decisions in respect of determination of bid price if contractors opt to bid. This study presents a strategy model for deciding optimum tender price with reflecting appropriate profit in competitive bidding using Bayesian regression analysis (BRA). The purpose of the developed model is to help contractors to secure suitable profitability by predicting the actual profit based on key variables. They may affect construction cost at bidding phase, ultimately which help contractors to secure high quality output. The model was tested empirically by application to a bidding dataset collected from a large South Korea contractor. BRA allows contractors to estimate more accurate actual profit by reflecting not only objective information but also subjective experiences and judgments. Consequently, the model can contribute to improvement of decision-making process for setting an optimum tender price.

Evaluation of the parameters affecting the Schmidt rebound hammer reading using ANFIS method

  • As a nondestructive testing method, the Schmidt rebound hammer is widely used for structural health monitoring. During application, a Schmidt hammer hits the surface of a concrete mass. According to the principle of rebound, concrete strength depends on the hardness of the concrete energy surface. Study aims to identify the main variables affecting the results of Schmidt rebound hammer reading and consequently the results of structural health monitoring of concrete structures using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The ANFIS process for variable selection was applied for this purpose. This procedure comprises some methods that determine a subsection of the entire set of detailed factors, which present analytical capability. ANFIS was applied to complete a flexible search. Afterward, this method was applied to conclude how the five main factors (namely, age, silica fume, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, and water) used in designing concrete mixture influence the Schmidt rebound hammer reading and consequently the structural health monitoring accuracy. Results show that water is considered the most significant parameter of the Schmidt rebound hammer reading. The details of this study are discussed thoroughly.

시험시간 관련인자가 로크웰 경도측정에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Time-Related Parameters on Rockwell Hardness Measurement)

  • 로크웰 경도시험 조건 중에서 시간과 관련이 있는 인자들이 경도측정 결과에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 대상 소재는 PE, PP PVC, PMMA이었으며 압입속도, 시험하중 유지시간, 그리고 계기판독 시점 등을 중심으로 시험한 결과 탄성이 큰 소재일수록 이들 인자들의 영향을 크게 받는 것으로 나타났다. 시험에 소요되는 시간 등을 고려하였을 때 최적 시험 조건은 각기 4, 15, 15초 이었으며 이 기준에 따라 순회 비교시험을 실시하였다. 순회 비교시험 결과 고분자소재의 경도를 제대로 측정하려면 부가하중을 제하하고 나서 계기판독 시점인 15초의 시간을 유지할 수 있는 기능이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 황동 기준편으로 경도시험기를 간접 검증하는 것만으로는 탄성 회복력이 좋은 고분자 소재의 특성 때문에 경도 측정값의 신뢰도를 보증할 수 없는 것으로 나타났다.

멀티스펙트랄 이미지 센서를 이용한 전자 지도 기반 변량 질소 살포 (Map-based Variable Rate Application of Nitrogen Using a Multi-Spectral Image Sensor)

  • Site-specific N application for corn is one of the precision crop management. To implement the site-specific N application, various nitrogen stress sensing methods, including aerial image, tissue analysis, soil sampling analysis, and SPAD meter readings, have been used. Use of side-dressing, an efficient nitrogen application method than a uniform application in either late fall or early spring, relies mainly on the capability of nitrogen deficiency detection. This paper presents map-based variable rate nitrogen application based using a multi-spectral corn nitrogen deficiency(CND) sensor. This sensor assess the nitrogen stress by means of the estimated SPAD reading calculated from the corn leave reflectance. The estimated SPAD value from the CND sensor system and location information form DGPS of each field block was combined into the field map using a ArcView program. Then this map was converted into a raster file for a map-based variable rate application software. The relative SPAD (RSPAD = SPAD over reference SPAD) was investigated 2 weeks after the treatments. The results showed that the map-based variable rate application system was feasible.
