The concept of privacy-preserving collaborative filtering (PPCF) has been gaining significant attention. Due to the fact that model-based recommendation methods with privacy are more efficient online, privacy-preserving memory-based scheme should be avoided in favor of model-based recommendation methods with privacy. Several studies in the current literature have examined ant colony clustering algorithms that are based on non-privacy collaborative filtering schemes. Nevertheless, the literature does not contain any studies that consider privacy in the context of ant colony clustering-based CF schema. This study employed the ant colony clustering model-based PPCF scheme. Attacks like shilling or profile injection could potentially be successful against privacy-preserving model-based collaborative filtering techniques. Afterwards, the scheme's robustness was assessed by conducting a shilling attack using six different attack models. We utilize masked data-based profile injection attacks against a privacy-preserving ant colony clustering-based prediction algorithm. Subsequently, we conduct extensive experiments utilizing authentic data to assess its robustness against profile injection attacks. In addition, we evaluate the resilience of the ant colony clustering model-based PPCF against shilling attacks by comparing it to established PPCF memory and model-based prediction techniques. The empirical findings indicate that push attack models exerted a substantial influence on the predictions, whereas nuke attack models demonstrated limited efficacy.
This paper considers a parallel-machine scheduling problem with job release times and sequence-dependent setup times. The objective of this problem is to determine the allocation policy of jobs and the scheduling policy of machines so as to minimize the weighted sum of setup times, delay times, and tardy times. A mathematical model for optimal solution is derived and a meta heuristic algorithm based on the improved ant colony system is proposed in this paper. The performance of the meta heuristic algorithm is evaluated through compare with optimal solutions using randomly generated several examples.
This paper proposes a novel multicasting algorithm, called ANMAS (Ad hoc Network Multicasting with Ant System), for Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). The algorithm utilizes the indirect communication method of the ants via 'pheromone' to effectively obtain dynamical topology change information, generating safer multicasting paths, and adapts the well-known CBT (Core Based Tree) multicasting algorithm into the ANMAS framework with proper modificiations to make 'tolerable' multicasting group in the MANET environment. We show the efficiency and the effectiveness of ANMAS via simulation studies.

This paper introduces the multi-vehicle routing problem(MRP) which is different from the traveling sales problem(TSP), and presents the ant system(AS) applied to the MRP. The proposed MRP is a distributive model of TSP since many vehicles are used, not just one salesman in TSP and even some constraints exist. In the AS, a set of cooperating agents called vehicles cooperate to find good solutions to the MRP. To make the proposed MRP extended more, Tokyo city model(TCM) is proposed. The goal in TCM is to find a set of routes that minimizes the total traveling time such that each vehicle can reach its destination as soon as possible. The results show that the AS can effectively find a set of routes minimizing the total traveling time even though the TCM has some constraints.
This paper studies a vehicle routing problem variant which considers customers to require simultaneous delivery and pick-up under time windows(VRPSDP-TW). The objective of this paper is to minimize the total travel distance of routes that satisfy both the delivery and pick-up demand. We propose a heuristic algorithm for solving the VRPSDP-TW, based on the ant colony system(ACS). In route construction, an insertion algorithm based ACS is applied and the interim solution is improved by local search. Through iterative processes, the heuristic algorithm drives the best solution. Experiments are implemented to evaluate a performance of the algorithm on some test instances from literature.
Facility Layout Planning is concerned with how to arrange facilities necessary for production in a given space. Its objective is often to minimize the total sum of all material flows multiplied by the distance among facilities. FLP belongs to NP complete problem; i.e., the number of possible layout solutions increases with the increase of the number of facilities. Thus, meta heuristics such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing have been investigated to solve the FLP problems. However, one of the biggest problems which lie in the existing meta heuristics including GA is hard to find an appropriate combinations of parameters which result in optimal solutions for the specific problem. The Ant System algorithm with elitist and ranking strategies is used to solve the FLP problem as an another good alternative. Experimental results show that the AS algorithm is able to produce the same level of solution quality with less sensitive parameters selection comparing to the ones obtained by applying other existing meta heuristic algorithms.
SA, TS, GA and ACS are four of the main algorithms for solving challenging problems of intelligent systems. In this paper we consider Examination Timetabling Problem that is a common problem for all universities and institutions of higher education. There are many methods to solve this problem, In this paper we use Simulated Annealing, Tabu Search, Genetic Algorithm and Ant Colony System in their basic frameworks for solving this problem and compare results of them with each other.
