  • For multi-hologram recording especially in a dIsk-shaped storage medium. we had studied a simple cost-effective method to unplement the rotational, angular, and ,patial multiplexmg techniques together in order to enhance the area storage density. Holographic storage with both rotational and angular multIplexing was realized by controlling the rderence beam directly with a pair of wedge prisms. whlie the storage WIth spatIal multlplexmg by shIfting the storage medium. In thIS paper \ve show that lhe area storage density of our system is strongly dependent on f numbers of the lenses in the srgnal and reference anns, and also show that the area storage densrly becollles maximal when the f number of the lens in the signal arm is approximately twice as long for a given f number of the lens in the reference emn. e emn.

  • Recently, techniques involving head-mounted displays (HMDs) have attracted much attention from academia and industry owing to the increased demand for virtual reality and augmented reality applications. Because HMDs are positioned near to users' eyes, it is important to solve the accommodation-vergence conflict problem to prevent dizziness. Therefore, holography is considered ideal for implementing HMDs. However, within the Nyquist region, the accommodation effect is limited by the space-bandwidth-product of the signal, which is determined by the sampling number of spatial light modulators. In addition, information about the angular spectrum is duplicated over the Fourier domain, and it is necessary to filter out the redundancy. The size of the exit-pupil of the HMD is limited by the Nyquist sampling theory. We newly propose a holographic HMD with an expanded exit-pupil over the Nyquist region by using the time-multiplexing method, and the accommodation effect is enhanced. We realize time-multiplexing by synchronizing a high-speed digital micromirror device and a liquid-crystal shutter array. We also demonstrate the accommodation effect experimentally.

  • Smartcard is highlighted as infrastructure that has an excellent security for executing functions such as user authentication, access control, information storage and control, and its market is expanding rapidly. But possibilities of forgery and alteration by hacking are increasing as well. This Paper makes cut off of Smartcard forgery and alteration that use angular multiplexing and private key multiplexing hologram on holographic security Encryption, and proposes system capable verfication of forgery and alteration impossible on existing smartrard by adopting smartcard chip and holographic memory chip.

  • We present experimental results on the multiplexed and stack-wise recording of near-field holograms. Experiments on angular multiplexing show that the angular selectivity of near-field hologram is better than that of the conventional hologram Experiments on stack-wise recording prove that near fields originated from sub-diffraction-limit-size objects could be stored in a photorefractive crystal at 2 mm apart from the crystal surface. In addition, to improve the data access and transfer time silicon nano-aperture array was introduced and applied to the near-field holographic storage.

  • In this paper, a new hybrid opto-digital multiple information hiding and real-time extracting system was suggested and implemented using a volume holographic optical correlator. The multiple information hiding system in which the multiple information can be hided in an arbitrary cover image was digitally implemented by using the combination of pseudo random sequence and Hadamard matrix. In addition, a real-time optical extraction system in which the hided multiple information in a cover image can be extracted in real-time was implemented by using a volume holographic optical correlator. In the VanderLugt-type holographic optical correlator used in this experiment, the multiful matched spatial filters corresponding each of the hided informations were recorded in a photorefractive crystal by using the moving window-based angular multiplexing scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose a volume holographic fingerprint recognition system based on optical correlator for personal identification. Optical correlator has high speed and parallel processing characteristics of optics. Matched filters are recorded into a volume hologram that can store data with high density, transfer them with high speed, and select a randomly chosen data element. The multiple reference images of database are prerecorded in a photorefractive crystal in the form of Fourier transform images, simply by passing the image displayed in a spatial light modulator through a Fourier transform lens. The angular multiplexing method for multiple holograms of database can be achieved by rotating the crystal by use of a step motor. Experimental results show that the proposed system can be used for the security verification system.

  • The photorefractive properties of 4% mol magnesium oxide doped lithium niobate have been investigated at room temperature. The recording and erasing time constants were measured as a function of intensity and analyzed by using the two active species (electron-hole) model. The results were used to compute the exposure schedule for multiple hologram recording. We have recorded grating of five holograms by angular multiplexing at room temperature and fixed them by means of a thermal cycling procedure. The highest diffraction efficiency of a fixed grating is up to 50% of an unfixed one.

  • Many multiplexing techniques are proposed for high storage densities in a volume hologram. In this paper, we present a hybrid angularly and spatially multiplexed volume holographic memory system. Multiple holograms are recorded by using reference and object waves with different incident angles and positions that are changed by step motors. A hologram is written by exposing the crystal with recording time schedule to the interference pattern of the object beam and a reference plane wave. Finally, we show experimental results of the storage of three layers of 300 multiplexed holograms in a LiNbO$_3$ : Fe crystal.

  • We studied 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ DuPont photopolymers (HRF-150-100) for characteristics of hologram formation and shrinkage at 514 nm with various grating spacings and light intensities. For combinations of rotational and angular multiplexings, we employed two different techniques by rotating the photopolymer and the reference beam. We also performed shift-rotational multilpexing with the rotating reference beam.

  • We performed experiments on Hong-Ou-Mandel type two-photon interference with frequency entangled photon pairs at 1.5 ${\mu}m$ telecommunication band generated through femtosecond pulsed spontaneous parametric down-conversion. Two different angular frequencies ${\omega}_1$ and ${\omega}_2$ were selected using CWDM(coarse wavelength division multiplexing) filters at the output ports of the interferometer. The coincidence counting rates were measured with varying path-length difference between the two interferometer arms to observe the two-photon interference patterns of spatial beating. The obtained visibilities in the net coincidence were close to the theoretical limit of 100%.
