  • Ether extract of the fruits of Angelica gigas NAKAI(Umbelliferae) growing wild and cultivating in Korea, afforded frocoumarin derivative, imperatorin which was identified through physical constants-I.R.spectrum, paper partition chromatography, and preparation of derivatives.

  • The ether extract of Dang-Gui, the dried root of Angelica gigas N$_{AKAI}$, was placed into a column with aluminium oxide gel. The elution of it with a mixture of n-hexane and ethyl acetate afforded Nodakenetin (I) and the elution with a mixture of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, acetone and methyl alcohol yielded Umbelliferon (II) and Nodakenin (III). Three coumarin derivatives were identified by comparing with authentic samples. The existence of sucrose and glucose was also proved.

참당귀근의 coumarin성분에 관한 연구(I) (Studies on the Coumarins of the Root of Angelica gigas $N_{AKAI}$ (I))

  • From the root of Angelica gigas $N_{AKAI}$ (Umbelliferae), known as "Tang Gui" in Korea, substance A (colorless needle crystal, $C_{14}H_{14}O_{4}$, m.p. $178^{\circ}$) and B (white plate crystal, $C_{19}H_{20}O_{5}$, m.p. $111^{\circ}$) were obtained. Acetylation of "A" gave its monoacetate, white needles, $C_{16}H_{16}O_{5}$. Saponification of "B" with 5% sodium hydroxide produced "A" and senecionic acid. Examination using I.R. and N.M.R. spectra shows that "A" is identical with decursinol and that "B" with decursin. The root also appears to contain five coumarin derivatives and two steroidal compounds.

  • The internal structures of "Chunho", "Kangwhal" and "Dangui" and their original plants had been compared with each other in the prior report. Coumarin derivatives, khellactone from the roots of Angelica purpuraefolia $C_{HUNG}$ and decursin and decursinol from A. gigas $N_{AKAI}$ were also isolated. In this report, we made a simple and convenient identification method for the powdered drugs of several Angelica genus by using a thin layer chromatogrophic technique. The ehter extract of the powdered drugs were applied to a silica gel plate, and was developed with n-hexane and ethyl acetate (1:1) mixture. The characteristic U.V. absorption patterns of each drug were shown.

  • 참당귀(當歸)의 유륜경멸(油崙輕滅) 재배(栽培)에 적합한 균일(均一)한 묘생산(苗生産)을 위한 기초자료(基礎資料)를 얻고자 묘(苗)의 생육진전양상(生育進展樣相)을 조사(調査)하고, 노웅육묘시(露地育苗時) 추태경묘감(抽苔輕苗減)에 적합(適合)한 묘(苗)로밝혀진 중(中), 소묘(小苗) 생산(生産)을 위한 적정파종양(滴定播種量)을 구명(究明)하기 위하여 수행(遂行)한 시험연구(試驗硏究) 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 묘(苗)의 떡잎은 파종후(播種後) 18일(日)에 출현(出現)되었고, 제(第)1엽(葉)과 제(第)2엽(葉)은 전엽(前葉) 출현후(出現後) 각각(各各) 5.0일(日)과 9.8일(日), 그 이후(以後) 제(第)6엽(葉)까지는 약13일(日) 만에 출현(出現)되었다. 2.엽장(葉長)은 제(第)1엽(葉)에서 제(第)6엽(葉)까지 각각(各各) 3.4cm, 10.2cm 16.4cm, 21.2cm, 25.9cm, 25.3cm로 엽수(葉數)가 진전(進展)됨에 따라 제(第)3엽(葉) 까지는 매엽당(每葉當) 약(約) 6cm이상(以上) 신장하였다. 3.엽령(葉齡) $3.9{\sim}5.0$장(杖), 묘두직경(苗頭直徑) $3{\sim}7$mm되는 소묘(小苗)${\sim}$중묘(中苗) 생산(生産)을 위한 적정(適定) 육묘기간(育苗期間)은 $60{\sim}87$ 일(日)정도인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 4. 파종양(播種量)에 따른 중(中),소묘(小苗) 생산비율(生産比率)은 $m_2$당(當) 15,000입(立)파종(播種)에서 52.8%로 가장 높았다.

  • We have examined the relaxational response to the water extract of Angelica gigas $N_{AKAI}$ (AG), Gingko biloba $L_{INNE}$ (GB), Acanthopanax senticosus $H_{ARMS}.$ (AP) and Augumented-Four-Substance Decoction (AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD) in isolated thoracic aorta from sprague dawley(SD) rat. Rat thoracic aorta was investigated in vessel segments suspended for isometric tension recording by polygraph. Responses to AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD were investigated in vessels precontracted with 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) were compared in vasodilation effect. We found that the thoracic aorta segments responded to AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD with a dose-dependent vasodilation. The 5-hydroxytryptamine induced contraction at $10^{-4}M$ were inhibited by 26.3%, 75.8%, 87.5% and 6.9%, 22.6%, 30.8% after addition of the 0.1 g/mL water extract of AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD. In conclusion, AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD induced relaxation in the isolated rat thoracic aorta were composed of dose-dependent relaxation. AP-FSD has very potent vasodilation.

  • Decursin, decursinol and nodakenin which were isolated from the root of Angelica gigas $N_{AKAI}$ (Umbelliferae) that is used as a botanical drug Dang-Gui (當歸) in Korea show following general pharmacologic activities. Decursin and decursinol increased the motility of the excised duodenum of the rabbit, but nodakenin did not. All of these three compounds depressed the heart contraction of the frog and blood pressure of the carotid artery and respiration of the rabbit. Decursin increased uterus contraction of the rabbit, but decursinol depressed it. And the tonus of the muscle of the earth worm was increased by decursinol, but was decreased by decursin.
