  • This paper aims to present a new method for obtaining an analytical solution for the Kaniadakis Doppler broadening (KDB) function. Also, in this work, we report the computational efficiencies of this solution compared with the numerical one. The solution of the differential equation achieved in this paper is free of approximations and is, consequently, a more robust methodology for obtaining an analytical representation of ψk. Moreover, the results show an improvement in efficiency using the analytical approximation, indicating that it may be helpful in different applications that require the calculation of the deformed Doppler broadening function.

  • Analytical expression for the breakdown voltage of the gated diodes were derived as f function of doping concentration and gate voltage, and verified by numerical simulations using ATLAS. The analytical results are in good agreement with simulation results within 5% error when the gate voltage changes from -50V to 130V in case of ND = $1\times1015 cm^{-3}$ and within 10% error when the doping concentration is changed from $5\times1014 cm^{-3}\; to\; 2\times1015 cm6{-3}$, respectively.

  • This paper explains analytical and experimental studies to evaluate the natural frequency of a composite carbody of Korean tilting train. The composite carbody with length of 23m was manufactured as a sandwich structure composed of 40mm-thick aluminium honeycomb core and 5mm-thick woven fabric carbon/epoxy face. From the finite element analysis, the 1st bending and 1st twisting natural frequency of the composite carbody were 11.67Hz and 14.4Hz, respectively. In order to verify the analytical results, the natural frequency measuring tests were performed. The measured 1st bending and twisting natural frequencies of the composite carbody were 10.25Hz and 11.0Hz, respectively. Both of these results satisfied the design requirement.

  • This paper deals with the estimation of the maximum flexural crack widths using minimum crack spacing for reinforced concrete members. The proposed method utilizes the conventional crack and bond-slip theories as well as bonding transfer length and effects of creep and shrinkage between the reinforcement and concrete. An analytical equation for the estimation of the maximum flexural crack width is formulated as a function of mean bond stress. The validity, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are established by comparing the analytical results with the experimental data and the major code specifications (e.g., ACI, CEB-FIP Model code, Eurocode 2, etc.). The analytical results of analysis presented in this paper indicate that the proposed method can be effectively estimated the maximum flexural crack width of the reinforced concrete members.

  • On the human-rifle system, the human body is affected by the firing impact. The firing impact will reduce the firing accuracy and change the initial shooting posture. Therefore the study of biomechanical characteristics using human-rifle modeling and numerical investigation is needed. The musculoskeletal model is developed by finite element method using beam and spar elements. In this study structural analysis has been performed in order to investigate the human body impact by firing of 5.56mm small caliber machine gun. The firing experiments with the standing shooting postures were performed to verify analytical results. The result if this study shows analytical displacements of the human-rifle system and experimental displacements of the real firing. As the results, the analytical displacement and stress of human body are presented.

  • This paper deals with the estimation of the maximum crack widths considering bond-slip relationships based on experimental data that were tensed by axial force. It is certificated that the concrete stress condition clearly affects the bond-slip relationship. The proposed method utilizes the conventional crack and bond-slip theories as well as the characteristics of deformed reinforcement and size effects. An analytical equation for the estimation of the maximum flexural crack width is formulated as a function of minimum crack length and the coefficient of bond stress effect. The validity, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are established by comparing the analytical results with the experimental data and the major specifications (e.g., ACI, CEB-FIP Model code, Turocode 2, JSCE, etc.). The analytical results presented in this paper indicate that the proposed method can be effectively estimated the maximum flexural crack width of reinforced concrete.

  • This paper deals with the estimation of the bond stress based on experimental data that were tensed by axial force on both sides. It is certificated that the concrete stress condition clearly affects the bond-slip relationship. The proposed method utilizes the conventional bond-slip theories as well as the characteristics of deformed reinforcement and concrete cross-sectional area. An analytical equation for the estimation of the bond stress is formulated as the function of non-dimensional factors (e.g. bond stress, relative slip, etc.). The validity, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are established by comparing the analytical results with the experimental data of Ikki (1996, 1999) and the representative bond stress equations of Shima (1987). The analytical results presented in this paper indicate that the proposed method can be effectively estimated the bond stress-relative slip relationship.

  • An analytical method for evaluating the free vibration of two circular plates coupled with water was developed by assuming the clamped boundary condition of the plates and an ideal fluid. The method was applied to analyze the transverse vibration modes, in-phase and out-of-phase, and the results were compared to those obtained by the finite element method (FEM) using a commercial ANSYS 5.2 software. It was found that the theoretical results can predict well the coupled natural frequencies for all in-phase modes with good accuracy. However, the analytical method shows some discrepancies compared with FEM analysis in predicting the coupled natural frequency of the out-of-phase modes, except when m = 0, the zero nodal circle. The analytical method also applied to evaluate the characteristics of the natural frequency with respect to the major parametric variation in mode numbers and distance between the circular plates.

  • Analytical chemists frequently use filter papers during the course of experiments without any hesitation. However, the results of analysis could be deteriorated by the various ions which are extracted from filter papers. In some filter paper made for qualitative use, about $300{\mu}g$ sodium and many other cations were detected. Although the quantities of contaminants was low in the filter paper made for quantitative use, significant amount of Fe, Si, Al, Cu and Zn was detected as well as alkali element. Many cations and anions were also detected in the filtrate obtained from the glass fiber filter.

  • Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is useful instrument for determining abundance of rare earth elements, due to very low detection limits and rapid data acquisition. In this article, two methods are used for decomposition of alkaline rocks; close vessel acid digestion and $Na_2Co_3$ fusion. The two analytical results show good agreements. Considering total dissolved solids and detection limits, the most adequate dilution factor is 5,000 times. Polyatomic ion interferences during analysis can give rise to Inaccuracies. After correction from oxide and hydroxide interference, the analytical result show 20-30% decrease for Gd and Tm, 10-20% decrease for Tb and Er. In comparing the analytical results from KORDI with other institutes, most rare earth elements abundance show good agreements except Lu.
