In this paper, series-fed mirostrip array anteenas with coupling-slots are prposed and their operating characteristics are analyzed based on analyzed based on analytical and experimental results. An accurate analysis method for the slot-coupled feed structure is based on using both circuit coupling between anteenas and full-wave analysis which use travling wave mode and non-traveling wave mode on feed line. The basis functions that used for the numerical analysis bas been determined depending upon the accuracy, convergence properties of the solution, and the computation time:The patch uses 3 EB mode, the slot uses 1PWS mode, and feeders use 5 PWS mode. Series-fed array antennas have been designed, built, and tested in a standing-wave configuration. Using the results of the full-wave analysis, the chebyshev array antennas consisting of 8 elements are designed and fabricated changing the amount excited to each array element by adjusting slot length and by the slot position relative to the feeder. Experiment results show that the series-fed array antenna designed by adjusting the slot position relative to the feeder is superior to that designed by slot length.
This paper provides a variety of viewpoints to illustrate the mechanism of the deck-stay interaction with the appropriate initial shapes of cable-stayed bridges. Based on the smooth and convergent bridge shapes obtained by the initial shape analysis, the one-element cable system (OECS) and multi-element cable system (MECS) models of the Kao Ping Hsi Bridge in Taiwan are developed to verify the applicability of the analytical model and numerical formulation from the field observations in the authors' previous work. For this purpose, the modal analysis of the two finite element models are conducted to calculate the natural frequency and normalized mode shape of the individual modes of the bridge. The modal coupling assessment is also performed to obtain the generalized mass ratios among the structural components for each mode of the bridge. The findings indicate that the coupled modes are attributed to the frequency loci veering and mode localization when the "pure" deck-tower frequency and the "pure" stay cable frequency approach one another, implying that the mode shapes of such coupled modes are simply different from those of the deck-tower system or stay cables alone. The distribution of the generalized mass ratios between the deck-tower system and stay cables are useful indices for quantitatively assessing the degree of coupling for each mode. These results are demonstrated to fully understand the mechanism of the deck-stay interaction with the appropriate initial shapes of cable-stayed bridges.

In this paper, we propose a systematic design approach based on cavity-mode resonance analysis to improve the radiated susceptibility of cables in air vehicles. As electronic devices equipped in air vehicles substantially increase, enhancing the radiated susceptibility of internal cables becomes more challenging and significant. The proposed design approach provides an efficient method to avoid and suppress cavity-mode resonances using analytical methods to estimate the resonance frequencies and the current ratio induced by the cavity-mode resonances. It is demonstrated in simulated results that the proposed method offers a design solution for improving the radiated susceptibility and reduces the computation time by up to 99.6% compared to the previous design method.

In this study, a novel analytical method has been developed for the rapid determination of L-carnitine in human plasma using electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Free carnitine (FC) was analyzed after extraction with 80% methanol and total carnitine (TC) was analyzed after hydrolysis and extraction. Acyl carnitine (AC) was subtracted FC from TC. Analytical methods used multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) scan modes. A correlation coefficient of linear regression ($r^2$) was 0.9995, recovery was 97%, reproducibility was less than 10%, and limit of detection (LOD) was $0.0016{\mu}mol/L$. This method reduced sample preparation time and showed high resolution and good reproducibility compared to that with liquid chromatographic methods. Normal control showed AC was lower than FC. Clinical management of patients with inborn error of metabolism showed FC was lower than AC. Thus, carnitine fraction level was very important to monitoring patients with metabolic disorder.
A comprehensive analytical method of endocrine disruptors[i.e., nonylphenol(NP), octylphenol(OP), bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate(BEHP)] in meat or pork samples was developed. The method employed closed culture tube extraction with dichloromethane and solvent exchange to iso-hexane and SPE(2g) aminopropyl column, followed by determination on gas chromatography linked to mass spectrometry(GC/MS) operated in the single ion monitering(SIM) mode. For the multipoint recovery of nonylphenol, octylphenol and bis(2-ethlhexyl) phthalate OP, NP were showen good recoveries in $0.125-1.25{\mu}g/g$ range of concentration, and BEHP more good recoveries in $0.0125-12.5{\mu}g/g$ wide range of concentration. The present method was applied to beef or pork samples of mart and butcher in Cheonju city and near Cheonju. The range of concentrations was respectively, $0.06-0.24{\mu}g/g$ in nonylphenol(NP) and $0.36-2.35{\mu}g/g$ in bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate(BEHP), but octylphenol(OP) was not dected in any samples. This method provides a powerful analytical tool to investigate a wide range of endocrine disruptors in biological samples of limited quantity.

The performance of reinforced concrete (RC) beam specimens strengthened using a newly proposed Side Near Surface Mounted (S-NSM) technology was investigated experimentally in this work. In addition, analytical and nonlinear finite element (FE) modeling was exploited to forecast the performance of RC members reinforced with S-NSM utilizing steel bars. Five (one control and four strengthened) RC beams were evaluated for flexural performance under static loading conditions employing four-point bending loads. Experimental variables comprise different S-NSM reinforcement ratios. The constitutive models were applied for simulating the non-linear material characteristics of used concrete, major, and strengthening reinforcements. The failure load and mode, yield and ultimate strengths, deflection, strain, cracking behavior as well as ductility of the beams were evaluated and discussed. To cope with the flexural behavior of the tested beams, a 3D non-linear FE model was simulated. In parametric investigations, the influence of S-NSM reinforcement, the efficacy of the S-NSM procedure, and the structural response ductility are examined. The experimental, numerical, and analytical outcomes show good agreement. The results revealed a significant increase in yield and ultimate strengths as well as improved failure modes.
In order to examine the variation characteristics of chemical compositions in relation to the inflow pathways of Asian dust, $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ aerosols were collected at Gosan site of Jeju Island during the Asian dust days between 2010 and 2015, and their chemical compositions were analyzed. The mean mass concentrations of $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ during Asian dust days were $130.0{\pm}90.2$ and $38.2{\pm}24.7{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. The composition ratios of major secondary pollutants ($nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NH_4{^+}$, $NO_3{^-}$) were high as 53.7 % for $PM_{10-2.5}$ and 90.6 % for $PM_{2.5}$. When the Asian dusts had been transported to the Korean Peninsula via Loess Plateau of central China, the concentrations of $nss-Ca^{2+}$, $NH_4{^+}$, $nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$, and $NO_3{^-}$ increased more noticeably. Whereas in case when the inflow pathways of Asian dust had been through the Bohai bay, the concentrations of the crustal species such as Al, Fe, and Ca were relatively high in coarse particles. The atmospheric aerosols were acidified largely by sulfuric and nitric acids. They were neutralized mainly by calcium carbonate in coarse particle mode passed through Manchuria area, but by ammonia in fine particle mode passed through Loess plateau and Bohai bay. Ammonium salts are assumed to exist as ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate in coarse particles, but mostly as ammonium sulfate in fine particles.

One of the major causes of stiffness and strength degradations in laminated composite structures is the delamination between composite layers. In most engineering applications, laminated composite structures have certain curvatures. If the curved composite structure is subjected to bending that tends to flatten the composite structures, through the thickness stresses can be generated in the thickness direction of the composites. Under normal operation open mode delamination could occur at the sites of peak interlaminar stress. This paper describes a technique to determine radial direction stress of a laminated composite structure using a curved beam. Stacking sequence effects of interlaminar stress were studied. The radial location and intensity of the open mode delamination stress were calculated and compared with the results obtained from the analytical solution and finite element method.
Ultrasonic guided wave testing is a very promising non-destructive testing method for rails, which is of great significance for ensuring the safe operation of railways. On the basis of the semi-analytical finite element (SAFE) method, a analytical model of 59R2 grooved rail was proposed, which is commonly used in the ballastless track of modern tram. The dispersion curves of ultrasonic guided waves in free rail and supported rail were obtained. Sensitivity analysis was then undertaken to evaluate the effect of rail elastic modulus on the phase velocity and group velocity dispersion curves of ultrasonic guided waves. The optimal guided wave mode, optimal excitation point and excitation direction suitable for detecting rail integrity were identified by analyzing the frequency, number of modes, and mode shapes. A sinusoidal signal modulated by a Hanning window with a center frequency of 25 kHz was used as the excitation source, and the propagation characteristics of high-frequency ultrasonic guided waves in the rail were obtained. The results show that the rail pad has a relatively little influence on the dispersion curves of ultrasonic guided waves in the high frequency band, and has a relatively large influence on the dispersion curves of ultrasonic guided waves in the low frequency band below 4 kHz. The rail elastic modulus has significant influence on the phase velocity in the high frequency band, while the group velocity is greatly affected by the rail elastic modulus in the low frequency band.
It was studied to analyze the $CO_2$, CO, $SO_2$ standard gases of combustion gases by the open path FT-IR spectrometer with passive mode for remote analysis of air pollutant and volcano gases without IR lamp. As result, it was confirmed to have good linearity with more than 0.9 as correlation coefficients on the calibration curve of $CO_2$, CO concentration by MLR method. But in the case of $SO_2$, because the correlation coefficients were 0.88, the linearity could be lower. Finally, the concentration of three gases was predicted on in-site fire experiment under the condition of quantitative analysis. It could measure high $CO_2$ concentration as predicted result, but didn't measure the CO and $SO_2$. According to the result, it was possible to measure the combustion gases to long distance by only open path FT-IR spectrometer without infrared lamp.
