  • The Berkeley-medium access control (B-MAC) is a lightweight, configurable and asynchronous duty cycle medium access control (MAC) protocol in wireless sensor networks. This article presents an analytic modelling of single-hop B-MAC protocol under a Poisson traffic assumption. Our model considers important B-MAC parameters such as the sleep cycle, the two stage backoff mechanism, and the extended preamble. The service delay of an arriving packet and the energy consumption are calculated by an iterative method. The simulation results verify that the proposed analytic model can accurately estimate the performance of single-hop B-MAC with different operating environments.

  • An accurate and efficient evaluation for hypersingular integrals (HIs), strongly singular integrals (SSIs), and weakly singular integrals (WSIs) plays an essential role in the numerical solutions of 3D electromagnetic scattering problems. We derive analytic formulas for WSIs based on Stokes' theorem, which can be expressed in elementary functions. Several numerical examples are presented to validate these analytic formulas. Then, to show the feasibility of the proposed formulations for numerical methods, these formulations are used with the existing analytical expressions of HIs and SSIs to correct the near-field interaction in an iterative physical optics (IPO) scheme. Using IPO, the scattering caused by a dihedral reflector is analyzed and compared with the results of the method of moments and measurement data.

  • In many engineering applications, the final decision is based on the evaluation of a number of alternatives in terms of a number of criteria. This problem may become very intricate when the selection criteria are expressed in terms of different units or the pertinent data are difficult to be quantified. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is an effective way in dealing with such kind of complicated problems. Cotton fiber is selected or graded, in the spinning industries, based on several quality criteria. However, the existing selection or grading method based on Fiber quality Index (FqI) is rather crude and ambiguous. This paper presents a novel approach of cotton fiber selection using the AHP methodology of Multi Criteria Decision Making.

  • In this paper we develop a model for the performance evaluation of defense R&D test development projects based on analytic hierarchy process. First, evaluation indicators are collected through the related literature survey and a delphi inquiry method. Second, stepwise multiple linear regression is used for developing a hierarchical structure for analytic hierarchy process in the evaluation model, which can make the selected evaluation indicators of the hierarchical structure independent. Also we verify the effectiveness of proposed indicators of the performance evaluation by comparing with the existing evaluation indicators. The developed indicators for the performance evaluation is more reasonable and practical than the previous indicators on defense R&D test development projects.

  • This paper presents analytic and numerical analysis of ultrasonic motor, specially linear motion ultrasonic machine. For rough estimation of characteristics of linear ultrasonic motor, the analytic method is used and a three-dimensional numerical analysis with experimental material data using ABAQUS, is performed. The validity of analysis is confirmed by comparing experimental results with numerical ones.

  • With the introduction of national standards (KS) for call centers, customers are expected to have access to better-quality services in the future. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relative importance of certification criteria for call center services using the Fuzzy AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) approach. Fuzzy AHP is the combination of the fuzzy set theory and AHP to deal with the uncertainty or ambiguousness of the decision-making process. The evaluation method proposed in this study can be applied to the KS services certification promoted by government.

  • This paper presents an analytic method to calculate energy conversion between electromagnetically coupled high-temperature superconducting and copper coils. The energy transfer from one coil to the other is commonly observed during quench of a no-insulation (NI) high temperature superconductor (HTS) magnet. Proper understanding of this phenomenon is particularly important to protect an NI HTS magnet, especially to avoid any potential mechanical damages. In this paper, analytic equations are obtained to estimate the energy transfer between the NI and copper coils. The well-known lumped-parameter circuit model is adopted provided that key parameters of the coils are given.

  • The differential pressure venturi-cone flowmeter is an advanced flowmeter which has many advantages such as wide range of measurement, high accuracy, excellent flow turn-down ratio, low headless, short installation pipe length requirement, and etc. Like other differential pressure flowmeters, the venturi-cone flowmeter uses the law of energy conservation, but its shape and position make it perform better than others. The cone acts as its own flow conditioner and mixer, fully conditioning and mixing the flow prior to measurement. For the analysis, we used Reynolds-averaged Wavier-Stokes equations and k-$\omega$ turbulence model. The equations were fully transformed into the computational domain, the pressure-velocity coupling was made through SIMPLER algorithm, and the equations were discretized using finite analytic solutions of the liberalized equations(Finite Analytic Method). To control the separation phenomenon on the cone surface, we proposed a new shape of cone, and analyzed the flowfield in the new flowmeter system, and found the improvement on the performance of the new cone flowmeter.

  • This paper describes that the compensation of frequency dependent attenuation (F.D.A.) and faithful envelope detection using the analytic signal magnitude (A.S.M.) improve the range resolut ion in an acoustic medium. It is shown that a mean of computing the magnitude of. analytic signal is better than that of conventional A-mode. In addition, this proposed method is much easier than the above methods to detect two closely spaced interfaces on the A-mode. As the result of experiment, we obtained range resolution of 0.5 mm with transducer of 3.5 MHz. This method can be applied to medical experiment, diagonostic and nondestructive testing.

  • Fixed cycle traffic signal controller is pattern type controller. This method is that one concluding traffic proposal affect fixed cycle controller to deciding cycle time during 24 hours. Traffic intersection jam is caused traffic controller supervisor input wrong traffic proposal. The available to traffic controller is traffic proposal is not selected by an outward look but propriety traffic proposal is compared with each other. This paper presents that property traffic proposal adopted to fixed cycle controller by fuzzy analytic hierachy process and new proposal adopted fixed cycle controller is compared with others.
