The development of ozone SRP (Standard Reference Photometer) designated as a G-7 project by the Korean Ministry of Environment began 1997 and is now nearly completed. With the completion of the ozone SRP we will not only acquire a qualification to participate in the international ozone calibration system but also enhance calibration credibility of ozone similarly to that of other ambient air pollution monitors. As the ozone SRP uses highly cleaned blank air that can be distinguished from general ozone analyzer, it is possible to reduce errors associated with the determination of ozone via elongation of the absorption length as long as 1 meter In addition, gas chopping method hat been adopted to cut down interference of other substances and time drift. Furthermore, the system has also been modified to minimize the strayed ultra-violet noise along the light path. In this paper, a new method for uncertainty evaluation has been introduced, which is guided by the ISO (International Standard Organization) GUM (Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement) through assessments of the uncertainty type B (that was impossible to estimate before) as well as the uncertainty type A (based on statistics).
The results of study on the active control of naturally occurring combustion oscillations with a single dominant frequency in an atmospheric dump combustor are presented. Control was achieved by an oscillatory infection of secondary fuel at the dump plane. A high speed solenoid valve with a maximum frequency of 250Hz was used as the actuator and a sound level meter, located at the combustor exit, measured the pressure fluctuations which served as the feedback signal for the control loop. Instability characteristics were mapped over a range of mean mixing section velocities from 6.7 m/s-9.3 m/s and with three mixing conditions. Different fuel/air mixing conditions were investigated by introducing varying percentages of primary fuel at two locations, one at the entrance to the mixing section and one 6 mixing tube diameters upstream of the dump plane. Control studies were conducted at a mean velocity of 9.3 m/s, with an air temperature of $415^{\circ}C$, and from flame blowout to the stoichiometric condition.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of equivalence ratio on the combustion and emission characteristics of a compression ignition engine fueled with biodiesel. In this research, a single-cylinder direct injection engine with 373.3 cc of displacement volume was tested on DC dynamometer. In order to investigate the effect of biodiesel equivalence ratio on combustion characteristics, the experiments were conducted at various equivalence ratios and injection pressures of 40~120 MPa. For investigating engine performance, lambda meter was connected and equivalence ratios was varied from 0.6 to 1.0. In addition, the exhaust emissions such as oxides of nitrogen($NO_X$), hydrocarbon(HC) and carbon monoxide(CO) were measured by exhaust gas analyzer under the various air/fuel ratios. The experimental results show that maximum IMEP was measured at the 0.8 of equivalence ratio. Furthermore, $NO_X$ emission was rapidly decreased as the increase of equivalence ratio. However soot emission was significantly increased according to the increase of equivalence ratio.

Porous alumina-based ceramics are of special interest due to their outstanding mechanical properties and their thermal and chemical stability. Nevertheless, the high electrical resistance of alumina-based ceramics, due to the generation of static electricity, leads to difficulty in applying a vacuum chuck in the semi-conductor process. Therefore, development of alumina-based ceramics for applications with vacuum chucks aims to have primary properties of low electrical resistance and high air permeability. In this study, we tailored the electrical resistance of porous alumina-based ceramics by adjusting the amount of $MnO_2$ (with $TiO_2$ fixed at an amount of 2 wt%) and by using coarse alumina powder for high air permeability. The characteristics of the specimens were studied using scanning electron microscopy, mercury porosimeter, capillary flow porosimetry, universal testing machine, X-ray diffraction and high-resistance meter.
In order to investigate $CO_2$ heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop by PAG oil concentration during $CO_2$ evaporation, the experiment on evaporation heat transfer characteristics in a horizontal micro-fin tube was performed. The experimental apparatus consisted of a test section, a DC power supply, a heater, a chiller, a mass flow meter, a pump and a measurement system. Experiment was conducted for various mass fluxes($400{\sim}1200\;kg/m^2s$), heat fluxes($10{\sim}30\;kW/m^2$) and saturation temperatures ($-5{\sim}5^{\circ}C$), and PAG oil concentration($0{\sim}5\;wt%$). The variation of the heat transfer coefficient was different in accordance with the oil concentration. With the increase of the oil concentration, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient decreased and the delay of dryout by oil addition was found. Pressure drop increased with the increase of the oil concentration and heat flux, and the decrease of saturation temperature.
The evaporative heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ (R-744) in a horizontal tube was investigated experimentally. The experiments were conducted without oil in a closed refrigerant loop which was driven by a magnetic gear pump. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter, a pre-heater and evaporator (test section). The test section consists of a smooth, horizontal stainless steel tube of inner diameter of 7.75 mm. The experiments were conducted at mass flux of 200 to 500 kg/m$^2$s, saturation temperature of -5 to 5$^{\circ}C$, and heat flux of 10 to 40kW/m$^2$. The test results showed the heat transfer of $CO_2$ has a greater effect on nucleate boiling more than convective boiling. Mass flux of $CO_2$ does not affect nucleate boiling too much, and the effect of mass flux on evaporative heat transfer of $CO_2$ is much smaller than that of refrigerant R-22 and R-134a. In comparison with test results and existing correlations, correlations failed to predict the evaporative heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$, therefore, it is necessary to develope reliable and accurate predictions determining the evaporative heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ in a horizontal tube.
A large number of studies have indicated associations between the impairment of respiratory health and exposure to ambient air pollutants such as ozone (O$_3$) , nitrogen dioxide (NO$_2$) , sulfur dioxide(SO$_2$) , particulate matters (PM$\_$10/). To evaluate this associations, we used the pulmonary function tests (peak expiratory flow rate : PEFR) by mini-wright peak flow meter and counting neutrophils in the nasal lavage (NL) as biomarker. From 15 June to 16 July 1998, for the workers in the highway tollgates, PEFR and NL were measured three times daily and twice per week. and association between the level of air pollutants and PEFR and NL were analyzed using the multiple regression model and the poisson regression model respectively. The results indicated that the effects of all measured air pollutants (SO$_2$, NO$_2$, O$_3$, PM$\_$10/) were not significantly associated with the value of PEFR. On the other side, SO$_2$, NO$_2$, PM$\_$10/ were significantly associated with the number of neutrophils in NL. The increase in SO$_2$, NO$_2$of 10ppb and in PM$\_$10/ of 10$\mu\textrm{g}$/m$^3$was associated with 24%, 21%, 35% increases in neutrophil counts. But the ozone exposure was not associated with NL.
The energy expended while playing tennis was determined from the players heart rate and from the amount of oxygen they consumed. This study was made using eight healthy but unathletic male college students. Expired air was collected for 2 minute periods during each game by the Douglas bag method. Samples were collected when serving and receiving. The air collected was measured using a wet test gas meter. The amount of air collected was expressed in STPD. Oxygen consumption was determined by measuring the oxygen content of the expired air with a Orzat gas analyzer. The energy expended during the tennis games was calculated indirectly. The caloric coefficient of oxygen was multiplied by the volume of oxygen consumed. The caloric coefficient of oxygen varied from 4.6 to 5.1 kcal/liter of oxygen. In this study the value of 5 kcal/liter of oxygen was used in the calculations. The accuracy of the measurements of energy expended was tested using regression analysis of the measured volume of oxygen. The mean values of heart rate, oxygen consumed and energy expended did not vary when the activity of serving and receiving was compared. The mean value of oxygen consumed during play was $1.4329{\pm}282ml/min$ or $21.6{\pm}4.0ml/kg/min$. The energy expended was $7.15{\pm}1.46kcal/min$ or $6.45{\pm}1.23kcal/kg/min$. The values were equivalent to 5.5 mets. When the levels of oxygen consumed were estimated using the formulas, they were found to be higher than the measured levels. The estimated amounts, however, were within 25% of the measured amounts.
Two types of reactors were set to investigate the change of characteristics of pig slurry by aeration during fertilization period. One system was equipped with air diffuser to supply oxygen to pig slurry for liquid fertilization, but there was no air diffuser in the other system. Air supply to the experimental systems was regulated by air flow meter. The reactors were set up in the laboratory to protect the pig slurry from external condition such as temperature and humidity changes. Maintaining optimal pH range in the experimental reactors is an important factor for liquid fertilization of pig slurry. In this study, pH ranges of aerobic reactor and anoxic reactor was 7.04~7.19 and 7.34~7.81, respectively. The temperature of aerobic reactors was $2{\sim}3^{\circ}C$ higher then indoor temperature. The amount of sludge accumulated at the bottom layer of non-aerated reactors was 4~5 times more than that of aerated reactors.
The cooling heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ (R-744) for tube and coil diameter (CD), inclined angle of tube and coil pitch of inclined helical coil type copper tubes were investigated experimentally. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter, a pre-heater and a inclined helical coil type gas cooler (test section). The test section consists of a smooth copper tube of 2.45 and 4.55 mm inner diameter (ID). The refrigerant mass flukes were varied from 200 to 800 [$kg/m^2s$] and the inlet pressures of gas cooler were 7.5 to 10.0 [MPa]. The heat transfer coefficients of $CO_2$ in inclined helical coil tube with 2.45 mm ID are $5{\sim}10.3%$ higher than those of 4.55 mm. The heat transfer coefficients of 41.35 mm CD are $8{\sim}32.4%$ higher than those of 26.75 mm CD. Comparison between $45^{\circ}\;and\;90^{\circ}$ of coil angle, the heat transfer coefficients of $45^{\circ}$ are higher than those of $90^{\circ}$. For coil pitch of gas cooler, the heat transfer coefficients of inclined helical coil gas cooler with coil pitch of 5 mm are similar to those of 10 and 15 mm.
