A System Improvement for the Environment-Friendly Agricultural Policy according to the Abolition of Low-Pesticide Certification - Focused on the Case of Fruits - (저농약인증 폐지에 따른 친환경농업정책의 제도적 개선방안 -과실류의 사례를 중심으로-)

  • Main aims of environment-friendly agriculture (EFA) are increasing functions for environmental conservation of agriculture and building consumer confidence for agricultural products safety. The low-pesticide certification will be abolished in 2016, and this will give rise to much confusion to low-pesticide certification producers. The non-pesticide agriculture doesn't mean organic farming, and the EFA standards of Korea don't match up to international standards to organic agriculture. The system improvement directions for EFA are to devide into two types of organic farming and EFA, and EFA includes non-pesticide and low-pesticide farming both. These types must have legal grounds respectively.

An Analysis on Consumer's Satisfaction Attributes and factors of Environment-Friendly Agricultural Products (친환경농산물 소비의 속성별 만족도 및 요인 분석)

  • The objectives of this study were to find out determinant attributes of selecting Environment-Friendly Agricultural Products (EFAP) and to analyze the degree of consumer's satisfaction by using factor analysis. To identify determinant attributes of EFAP, a series of household surveys were conducted on housewives residing in Seoul. The sample size of the survey is 247 respectively. The main results of this study are summarized as follows. Firstly, the degree of consumer's satisfaction and loyalty is higher than before. Secondly, the consumers recognized that the most important attributes in selecting EFAP is a 'taste'. Thirdly, 'price policy', 'diversity of purchasing items' and 'package design' will continuously speed up the development of EFAP in order to improve the consumer's satisfaction.

Relative Evaluation to Its Attributes and Positioning Strategies for Environment-Friendly Agricultural Procucts (친환경농산물의 속성별 상대평가 및 포지셔닝 전략)

  • This study attempted to identify relative evaluation to its attributes and improvement of consumer's demand in the Environment-Friendly Agricultural Products(EFAP). To identify the consumption patterns of EFAP, a series of household surveys were conducted for housewives residing in Seoul and its metropolitan area(Bundang and Ilsan). the sample size of the survey is 366 respectively. This study operated relative evaluation of EFAP by Multi-Demential Scales(MDS) about 10 attributes that this study set up. As the result, the consumers recognized that EFAP is "protection of ecosystem", "food safety", "good for growth of children", "high quality", and in case of conventional farming products is "inexpensive price", and "diversity of purchasing items". This trend has significant implications to the structure of EFAP output and how positioning strategies, and approaches should be properly formulated and implemented.

  • The purposes of this study are to analyze the effect of consumption of environment-friendly agricultural products (EFAP) on improvement of family health, and to suggest directions for improvement of family health. A survey was conducted for qualitative analysis regarding relationship between EFAP consumption and family health. The method of his study was employed Cross-tabulation and an Ordinal Logistic Regression Model to derive more significant results in analyzing factors of improvement of family health. The result shows that improvement of health has a significant positive relationship with consumption of EFAP. In addition, those consumers with high reliability and quality contentment are more likely to experience improvement of health. As consumers constantly eat EFAP, they are more likely to experience improvement of health. In order to provide consumer reliability of EFAP, more strict certification management system with sound monitoring and an appropriate penalty for violation should be established.

  • The goal of this study is to promote the spread of environmentally friendly agricultural products, which have been receiving a lot of attention lately, as a way to improve food safety and quality. As a result of the increased labor input, increased production costs, and an aging population, environmentally friendly agriculture is making it more difficult for farmers to expand their enterprises. In the meantime, consumers find it difficult to spread eco-friendly agricultural products due to their high expectations for safety and quality, as well as the desire to purchase products at a reasonable price. Previous studies have revealed differences in perceptions between eco-friendly agricultural producers and consumers. In light of this, this study divided consumers based on their characteristics (such as age, purchase history, health concerns, etc.), and different policies were proposed in order to increase purchasing factors for each group based on their characteristics. In order to gather information for this study, general citizens were asked about their perceptions of eco-friendly agricultural products, future purchase intentions and awareness, reliability, necessity, purpose, and information sources. A two-step clustering analysis was conducted using nominal and continuous variables simultaneously. The paper presents the three derived group differences (senior organic interest group, middle-aged organic interest group, and indifferent young organics) as well as group differences for the purchasing/non-purchasing factor analysis and policy improvement for each group. An eco-friendly agricultural product distribution proposal was made at the end of this article.

Policy Issues and Directions for Developing Green Tourism (녹색농촌 조성사업의 정책과제와 발전방향)

  • Several policy measures related to green tourism have been enforced from 2001 by Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF). Rural Development Administration(RDA). Ministry of Environment(ME) and Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs(MGAHA). These have to be introduced and managed of their own accord and autonomously. Also, the rural community that has been promoting green tourism must be harmonized with its natural environment, namely natural scenery and rural culture, which provide urban residents with amenity and rurality. So green tourism had better be based on environmental-friendly agriculture because it offers safe foods and areas, many creatures to see and play around. To manage green tourism sustainable, it if important for rural and urban residents to come into close relation and to trade in organic products each other. Lastly, the region bounds in green tourism have to be expanded into county(Gun) unit.

  • This study examines the management performance of Oilseed crops (Sesame and Perilla). For this purpose, In the first stage, This study analyzes the current status of sesame and perilla industry. In the second stage, This study examines the management performance of environmental friendly agricultural products (Sesame and perilla). The result of this study show that : (1) Changes in annual wholesale price of Sesame and Perilla ; (2) Management performance of environmental friendly products (Sesame and perilla) ; (3) Feature comparison of productivity of oilseed crops.

  • The objectives of this study were to find development process and strategies for school lunch program using environmentally friendly agri-products (EFA). In order to improve the quality of school lunch program from elementary school to high school, the demand of EFA is increasing step by step such as a parent's association and the citizen group. For that reason, establishment by regional ordinance for school lunch program using EFA is rapidly expanded throughout the country. To develop school lunch program using EFA, we have to consider WTO regulations and product reliable EFA under the demand-supply stabilization. Moreover, environmentally friendly agri-policy to be more focused on the promotion the consumer's interests and food safety need.

  • The overall focus of this study was to identify marketing and promotion strategies that can maintain and enhance environmentally friendly farm and organic production and processing activities. This is particularly important as the volume of environmentally friendly farm and organic produce that is generally available is increasing, and significant players, such as Organic Marketing Initiatives(OMI) and conventional marketing co-operatives, are becoming involved in the market. The rapid increase in production of environmentally friendly farm products and organic food is creating new and more complex challenges for marketing, from vegetable box schemes large co-operatives supplying the precise quality and volume required by supermarkets. A possible strategy for many farmers is to co-operate in regionally or nationally operating marketing initiatives. The main objective of any public relations(PR) activity should to enhance publicity and to improve an OMIs image. No promotion, no perception of OMI performance.

  • The purpose of this study is analyze Development policies on environmental- friendly agriculture(EA) and find out some implications. As consumption of environmental-friendly agriculture products increasing, administrative policies on EA began 1997s and it has been generally expanded in Korea. The strategies for EA aim to promote among human beings and between humanity and nature require. In addition, support to develop horizontal and vertical productions-organization, regionalization, and political support must be further developed. The necessary investments for such concepts can clearly be reduced through cooperation.
