A Study on the Architecture Scales Used in the Unified Silla Era (통일신라시대(統一新羅時代) 건물지(建物址)에 적용(適用)된 척도(尺度)에 관한 고찰(考察))

  • This study is examine the scales applied to buildings in the age of Unified Silla through construction sites excavated and its results are as follows; First, scales used in the age of Unified Silla were varied like Jucheok, Dangcheok and Hancheok, but it was generally accepted that Dangcheok was used in Yeongjocheok Since it was found that the scales applied to Dabotap at the Bulguksa temple and main building of the Gameunsa temple belonged to Goguryeo, Yeongjocheok scale used early in the age of Unified Silla was transitional and it was thought that Goguryeocheok and Dangcheok were used togethar. Second, according to actual rulers in Korea, china and Japan, the length of Dangcheok(ruler used in Chinese Tang era) mostly belonged to the extent of $29.25cm\;{\sim}\;30.5cm$(central value: 29,71cm). Third, plane features of main building of temple are assumed that it had five rooms in front compartment until the 7th century and then it was diversified to three, five and seven compartment. The size of compartment was same in the scale of front Eokan and Hyeopkan until late 7th century, but since then the dimension of Eokan tended to be wider than Hyeopkan. It was judged that the front Eokan used triple scales like 9, 12, 15, 18 cheok. Fourth, the length of residential structures was 17.5cheok${\sim}$36cheok and Bcheok was commonly used for front side of structure, The length of official structures was 8.4cheok${\sim}$36.3cheok which is similar to residential structures. However it has been confirmed that each of 9cheok, 12cheok, and 15cheok has been used for Eokan and Hyeopkan which gave presumption that triple scales was used for the measure.

Estimation of Compressive Strength of Concrete Incorporating Fine Particle Cement Considering Blaine Fineness (분말도 변화를 고려한 미분시멘트 사용 콘크리트의 압축강도증진 해석)

  • This study presents an estimation of the strength development of concrete considering the equivalent age using fine particle cement (FC), which is manufactured according to the classification process. Contents and W/B were considered as experimental parameters. The strength considering the equivalent age is gradually increased, and the deviation of the strength according to W/C is increased with decrease of W/C in accordance with the replacement of the fine particle cement. For estimating the apparent activation energy (Ea) considering setting time and blame fineness of cement, Ea of the FC based on setting time is calculated with $27.6{\sim}28.9$ KJ/mol, which is somewhat similar to that of OPC, while by applying Ea based on blame fineness, Ea is increased with increase of FC contents, and is calculated with $40{\sim}56$ KJ/mol. Good agreement is obtained by applying Ea based on setting time, while there was remarkable variation between calculated value and measured value when Ea based on blame fineness. Therefore, it is necessary to add influencing factors in existing Ea to enhance the accuracy of the estimation.

  • This research aims to examine the spatial patterns of vacant housings and the factors determining housing vacancy in Daegu using individual-level building DB. The results of the spatial pattern analysis showed a donut shaped-spatial concentration of vacant housings in the central areas of the city. The results of logistic regression analysis revealed that not only individual building characteristics, such as building area, number of floors, and building age, but also socio-economic characteristics of community, such as urban redevelopment district, number of adjacent vacancies, recent population change, and ratio of elderly, are important factors affecting housing vacancies.

The Effects of Curing Age and Thickness of Coating Material on the Bond Strength of PCS-Coated Rebar to Cement Concrete (도장재의 양생재령과 도장두께가 PCS 도장철근과 시멘트 콘크리트와의 부착강도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of curing age and thickness of coating material on the bond strength of polymer cement slurry(PCS)-coated rebar that can replace epoxy-coated rebar. The test specimens were prepared with two types of cement, two types of polymer dispersion as St/BA and EVA, two polymer-cement ratios, two coating thicknesses and three curing ages, and tested for bond strength test to cement concrete. The flexural behavior of RC beam that is made by optimum conditions such as polymer-cement ratio of 80%, coating thickness of $100{\mu}m$ and curing age of 7 days of PCS recommended from the bond strength test is also conducted. From the test results, The maximum bond strength of PCS-coated rebar at curing age of 7-day and coating thickness of $100{\mu}m$ was about 1.52 and 1.58 times respectively, the strength of plain and epoxy-coated rebar. The ultimate loads of RC beam using PCS-coated rebar were range of 81.1% to 102.3% of that of plain rebar, and 98.4% to 124.1% of that of epoxy-coated rebar. It is apparent that PCS-coated rebar with EVA, curing age at 7-day and $100{\mu}m$ can replace epoxy-coated rebar in construction field.

A Study on Design Development Direction for Designing Aging Friendly City through The Case Analysis (사례분석을 통한 고령친화도시 디자인 개발방향연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a foundational design direction for seniors, according to paradigm shift in aging society. This paper researched on current state of the aging society through literature study and defined the theoretical concept that set the foundation of the study. Secondly, for building an age-friendly city, relevant studies on seven cities were selected and their regional design guidelines were analyzed. As a result, essential design elements for building the aging-friendly city were defined as safety, recognition, and accessibility. A detailed design guideline that applies the three elements with understanding on seniors is required to construct the environment for a senior-friendly city. Ultimately, the result of this study is expected to be in practical use as a fundamental resource for age-friendly city design.

  • This study investigates the thermal conductivity and density of expanded polystyrene insulation materials collected from buildings under going energy retrofit projects. Due to the absence of initial thermal conductivity data, determining precise long-term patterns was challenging. Analysis based on design documents revealed that expanded polystyrene insulation maintained consistent performance over ten years. Notably, the thermal conductivity measurements of insulation samples of the same grade and age varied significantly. Additionally, the insulation density was found to be substantially below the standard specified in the design documents. The results of the experiment indicate that performance management during both construction and operation phases is lacking. It is crucial to apply building commissioning, which involves performance verification throughout the building's life cycle, to properly evaluate building energy performance improvements, such as building energy retrofit projects.

  • The objective of this study is to disclose the effect of socio-demographic characteristics such as, age and ethnicity which is comprised of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Others on four financial capability domains namely planning ahead, managing money, choosing products and staying informed. A closed ended self-administered questionnaire was disseminated to a total of 2000 respondents among four types of groups which consist of FELDA or rural area residents, private sector employees, government sector employees and youth in institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. Those four groups were selected to cover a wide range of Malaysian population. 500 respondents were involved in this study for each types of groups through purposive sampling technique. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and analysis via Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was utilized in this study. The results revealed that age has significant effect on planning ahead, managing money, choosing products and staying informed. Whereas, ethnicities were found to have no effect on financial capability except planning ahead domain. It is suggested that more devotion should be placed on research and professional training in building respondents' financial capability. Furthermore, government and non-government organizations should develop a comprehensive approach to intensify their financial capability and upgrade their standards of living especially of financially vulnerable households.

The Degree of Age-Friendliness of Living Environments Perceived by the Aged - Focused on the Physical Environments of Busan Metropolitan - (고령자가 인지하는 생활환경의 고령친화정도 - 부산광역시 물리적 환경을 중심으로 -)

  • The age-friendly environments have the benefits that they provide not only the elderly, but also the disabled, children, pregnant, and young persons with the convenient environments. The study examined how degree the aged perceived their physical living environments were age-friendly. The data were collected from 525 old peoples living in Busan using by the person to person interview. All 34 items related to the age-friendliness of outdoor space and building, traffic, and housing were analyzed. The aged perceived that the agefriendliness of their living environments were mid-range. This implies that the improvements of their physical living environments were needed. The age-friendliness of housing area was the lowest among three areas. This means that the alternatives for improving the old persons' houses were needed. The characteristics which affected the aged' perception of the age-friendliness of physical living environments were economic level, housing type, home-ownership, and health condition.

A Study on the Historic Changes of Yungnam-Ru in Historic Periods and Architectural Building Forms (밀양 영남루 연혁 및 건축형식 변천에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is focused to the historic changes of Yungnam-Ru(嶺南樓), which are based on the site layout, and architectural forms in architectural building history and historic periods analyzed with the historic reference, paintings, and photos. This study is to search the alteration of the types of axis and the formation of spaces in Yungnam-Ru which is the Ru-Gak(樓閣) The conclusion of the architectural changes from the historic period and architectural form which is the belows. The first Yungnam-Ru by name had been used to be called, before it was re-called Yungnam-Ru by Kim Ju in 1365. Therefore, the hypothesis in naming Yungnam-Ru form assumption that the building under the name of Yungnam-Ru was re-named by Kim Ju from the Old Budist Temple called Yungnam-Sa, should re-considered in history. The second, it is considered that Milyang-Sibyi-Kyungdo(密陽十二景圖) as the painting can only be seen the site layout in 1542. It could be compared the differences of the site layouts from in 1542 to the present time. At that time Nyungpadang(凌派堂) was connected the main buildings called Yungnam-Ru Chimrudang(沈流堂),building was seperated with the Yungnam-Ru at that period. In 1542, the main Building(Yungnam-Ru) was consist of 5 spans of columns(from the front) and 2 spans of columns(from the side). Now, the main Building(Yungnam-Ru) has the 5 spans of columns from the front, and two spans of columns short from the side, compared to the present facade. At the past, Chimrudang(building) has the two spans of columns and one span of columns short, compared to the present facade. The third, It supposed that main building, Nyungpadang and Chimrudang in the composite of facade was connected with Wolrang(月廊) and Hunrang(軒廊) after invatioin from japan in 1592. 1844, (Chosun dynasty, Hunjong 10) the Yungnam-Ru was re-builted by maintaining the same concept in site layout of the past, and finally the three buildings was put together with Wolrang and Hunrang. As a result, the plan of the Yungnam-Ru was expanded with many aspects. From 1542 to 1844, the present site-layout gradually completed with three buildings which was spatially connected. The forth, in the middle age of Chosun dynasty, after added Gaeksa(客舍), the building is for the government officer staying temporally from outside province) in the site, the site layout was greatly changed with volume of building. In 1844, the Yungnam-Ru as the Nugak belongs to Miljukwan(密州館) was expanded spacially and formally. After that time, the burned buildings could not have been re-built because of aspects in government ability and economical ability.

Hydrate Characteristics of Cement Mixtures with Expansion Additive According to Age and Improvement Effect on Initial Strength (팽창재를 사용한 시멘트 혼합물의 재령별 수화물의 특성과 초기강도 개선 효과)

  • CSA, a cement mineral compound that is mainly composed of $3CaO{\cdot}3Al_2O_3{\cdot}CaSO_4$, generates ettringite as a hydration product after a reaction with glass (lime), gypsum and water to speed up the hardening process and enhance the strength and degree of expansion. When used as a cement admixture, there is increased production of ettringite, which can improve the initial strength in the first three days and ameliorate the reduction in the initial strength caused by the use of fly ash in particular. In this study, a hydrate analysis was performed using XRD and SEM after substitution with fly ash (30%) and CSA (8%) with the goal of observing the effect of CSA on the initial strength of a cement mixture containing fly ash. The results of the analysis showed that an addition of CSA promoted the production of ettringite and improved the initial strength, resulting in the generation of hydrates, which can effectively enhance the long-term strength of these materials.
