  • The focus of this study was centered around 15 common injection type water leakage repair materials (3 different types for each; synthetic polymer, cementitious, acrylic, epoxy, urethane) used in concrete structures of Korea and analyzing their wet surface adhesion performance in accordance to the ISO TS 16774 Test Method for Repair Materials for Water-leakage Cracks in Underground Concrete Structures, Part 4: Test Method for Adhesion on Wet Concrete Surface, and the results of this study was taken to be place under a comparative analysis with the results of the preceeding study on response to substrate movement performance study. The results of this comparative study showed that other than 1 specimen of 1 type of the acrylic and 3 specimens of 1 type of the synthetic polymer type materials, all of the 93% of the specimens used in this study showed stable adhesion on wet substrate surface, and we were able to determine that materials that have proper response properties against substrate movement are highly flexible and have high adhesion properties, but their adhesion properties on wet substrate would change based on their viscosity.

  • In this study, primers were prepared by mixing cement and modified polymer, and the adhesion to the substrate surface was enhanced by using cement which is the same material as the basement outer wall. The improved primer is used to verify the adhesion performance of the substrate in wet concrete environments.

  • In electric motor coaches, when the adhesion force coefficient between rail and driving wheel decreases suddenly, the electric motor coach has slip phenomena. The characteristics of adhesion force coefficient is strongly affected by the conditions between rails and driving wheels, such as moisture, dust, and oil on the rails and so on. This paper proposes the vector control structure for the improved re-adhesion control with paralleled control of induction motors under the sudden variation of the adhesion force coefficient.

  • A currently used roof green system with multi layers has a low constructability. Therefore a new integrated waterproof & root barrier sheet and roof green box unit system was developed using steel plate fixture and cone type fixture by electromagnetic induction heating method. This study was proceeded to evaluate adhesion performance of two types of fixtures on Engineering PE, TPO, PVC sheet in a normal condition, repeated heating and cooling condition. As a result, adhesion load on Engineering PE sheet showed the highest value. The adhesion loads of steel plate fixture showed higher value as heating temperature was getting higher. However adhesion loads of cone type fixture showed opposite tendency. Regarding to the test conditions, test results of normal condition, repeated heating and cooling condition showed same value. The cone type fixture using butyl tape showed 7 times lower adhesion load than that of cone type fixture using electromagnetic heating and 28% lower adhesion load in a repeated heating and cooling condition than a usual condition.

  • A series of aluminum acetylacetonate (AlACA) belonging in inorganic chelate calculating with the ratio of -COOH mole in PSA (0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) and a series of PSA with different acrylic acid contents (3 wt%, 7 wt%, 10 wt%) were blended and measured gel contents, probe tack, peel strength, SAFT. With the increasing of aluminum acetylacetonate contents, the network structure was formed and gel contents were increased. Probe tack fibrillation and peel strength were decreased following the addition of aluminum acetylacetonate. SAFT were significantly changed with the change of acrylic acid contents in PSA. From these results, aluminum acetylacetonate could be used in the range of which would not change the performance a lot, and cure the PSA.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the improvement effect of adhesion in tension and flexure of polymer cement mortars that have widely used as a repair-reinforcement material in construction field according to adding of polymer dispersions depending on different three types test methods. From the test results, the adhesion performance is improved with a raise in polymer-cement ratio irrespective of the type of polymer. The maximums of A type adhesion in tension, B type adhesion in tension and adhesion in flexure show 1.90 times, 2.17 times and 1.83 times, respectively that of plain cement mortar. The relative strength ratios, B type adhesion in tension and adhesion in flexure of polymer cement mortars to tensile and flexural strengths of plain mortar respectively are in ranges of 50.1% to 101.7% and 73.8% to 132.9% compared to 46.9% of plain mortar. It is apparent that polymer cement mortars with EVA and polymer cement ratios of 10% to 15% are recommended considering its adhesion performance and cost as a repair-reinforcement material in construction field.

  • The objective of this research was executed to investigate the effect of molar ratio of formaldehyde to urea and melamine (F/(U+M)) of urea-melamine-formaldehyde (UMF) resin on bonding high and low moisture content veneers. For that purpose, UMF resin types with 5 different F/(U+M) molar ratios (1.45, 1.65, 1.85, 2.05, and 2.25) synthesized were used in present study. First, their curing behavior was evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry. Second, their adhesion performance in bonding high and low moisture content veneers was evaluated by probe tack and dry and wet shear strength tests. Curing temperature and reaction enthalpy decreased with the increase of F/(U+M) molar ratio. And the dry and wet shear strengthsof plywood manufactured from low moisture content veneers were higher than thoseof plywood manufactured from high moisture content veneers. Also, the maximum initial tack force on the low moisture content veneer was higher than that on the high moisture content veneer.

  • In this paper, the effect of adhesion properties of semiconductive-insulating interface layer of silicone rubber on electrical properties was investigated. The modifications produced on the silicone surface by oxygen plasma were accessed using ATR-FTIR, contact angle and AFM. Adhesion was obtained from T-peel tests of semiconductive layer having different treatment durations. In addition, ac breakdown test was carried out for elucidating the change of electrical property with duration of plasma treatment. From the results, the treatment in the oxygen plasma produced a noticeable increase in surface energy, which can be mainly ascribed to the the creation of O-H and C=O. It is observed that adhesion performance was determined by not surface energy but roughness level of silicone surface. It is found that ac dielectric strength was increased with improving the adhesion between the semiconductive and insulating interface.
