Improved Adhesive Strength of Vulcanized Rubber upon Laser Treatments

  • Surface treatment using an excimer pulse laser beam has been conducted in order to increase the adhesive strength of vulcanized rubber. The adhesive strength increased with increasing the number of irradiation time with laser pulses and reached to 1,500 N/m after 100 cycles of irradiation. Increased in energy density was directly proportional to the improvement of the adhesive strength. Maximum value of the adhesive strength of 1,500 N/m obtained at the energy density of 176 mJ/$\textrm{cm}^2$. We conclude that an increased energy density improves in both the surface area and adhesive strength.

Improvement of joining strength between aluminum alloy and polymer by two - step anodization

  • In the manufacturing process of joining of aluminum alloy and polymer, the strength of the metal-polymer joining is greatly influenced by the nanostructure of the oxide film. In this study, we investigated the dependence of joining strength on the thickness, structure, pore formation and surface roughness of the formed film. After the two-step anodization process, the surface oxide layer became thinner and rougher resulting in higher joining strength with the polymer. More specifically, after the two-step anodization, the surface roughness, Ra increased from 2.3 to 3.2 ㎛ with pore of three-dimensional (3D) nanostructure, and the thickness of the oxide film was thinned from 350 to 250 nm. Accordingly, the joining strength of the aluminum alloy with polymer increased from 23 to 30 MPa.

속경형시멘트의 수화거동에서 폴리머의 영향 (The Influence of Polymers on the Hydration of Modified Cement System)

  • The properties of the polymer-modified mortars are influenced by the polymer film, cement hydrates and the combined structure between the organic and inorganic phases. Also, this quality of polymer modified cement strongly depend on weather condition. To overcome this problem, polymer-modified cement based on rapid setting cement mortars were prepared by varying polymer/cement mass ratio (P/C) with a constant water/cement mass ratio of 0.5. The effect of polymer on the hydration of this polymer cement is studied on different curing temperature. The results showed that the polymer mortar which is modified with rapid setting cement have superior physical strength properties on independent curing temperature. In addition the PIC ratio, the compressive strength, flexural strength, tensile strength and adhesion strength of mortar is enhances and polymer-modified cement based on rapid setting cement is more beneficial to the improvement of the mortar properties in jobsite.

  • In this Paper, the variable dielectric breakdown strengths of epoxy composites were investigated at belling absorption condition in order to observe the influences of moisture in out door use. Also. in order to improve withstand voltage properties at moisture absorbtion condition, IPN(interpenetrating polymer network) method was Introduced and the Influence was investigated. As Adding filler(SiO$_2$) classified by o(phr), 50(phr) and 100[phr] to two kinds of matrix resin, six kinds of specimens were manufactured. As a result, it was confirmed that dielectric breakdown strength wer degraded with boiling time and filer content increasing. But, it was confirmed that dielectric breakdown strength degrading rate were lowered by the Improvement of adhesion strength in IPN specimens.

  • This study is interested in manufacturing the concrete surface impregnants including tetra ethyl ortho silicate, alkali silicate for the repair of the exposed concrete and the color concrete requiring the advanced function in view of the concrete appearance. The surface layer change and porosity properties was tested for the review of application. The result of this study show that the effective silicate are tetra ethyl ortho silicate and alkali silicate t. The adhesion in tension is slightly increased but the reinforcement of concrete substrate is slight. So, the concrete impregnant of this study is more desirable for the improvement of durability rather than the reinforcement.

  • The development of linear Eddy-Current brake systems has gradually gone beyond the adhesion limit in high-speed vehicles. In particular, the practicality of using permanent magnet in Eddy-Current brake systems is obviously recent, due to the manifold improvement in magnet materials and technology. On the basis of analytical two-dimensional field solution, this paper deals with flux density and force calculation about the linear Eddy-Current brake systems: DC excited electromagnet, Halbach magnetized and vertical magnetized permanent magnet.

내장 신경 차단후 생긴 일시적 편측 하지마비 (Transient Unilateral Paraplegia after Splanchnic Nerve Block)

  • Two cases are described transient unilateral paraplegia following a splanchnic nerve block (SNB) among 683 procedures in 708 patients from 1968 to 1992. The first case, 64 year-old male, had bilteral splanchnic nerve block twice with pure alcohol 4 months and 2month ago. The paraparesis of right leg was developed 4 minutes after the pure alcohol injection during the third SNB and was completely recovered after 37 minutes. The second case, 60 year-old male, had also a first SNB with temporary relief of pain for a week. The Second SNB with 95% alcohol was followed by paraplegia of left leg. He showed almost complete improvement but expired 18 days later. The probable cause was the spread of alcohol onto the lumbar plexus or paravertebral space unilaterally, because of adhesion or paravertebral space due to previous alcohol injections.

  • Surface properties of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) films fabricated by rf-magnetron sputtering system with UV surface treatment were investigated to increase water contact angle for their hydrophobic property. We found that the surface morphology and water contact angles of PTFE film modified as a function of the UV treatment times using UV-irradiation were influenced. The water contact angle of PTFE film with optimized UV treatment time for 15 minute showed a high hydrophobicity compared with the film without any surface treatment. We thought that it was due to the energy change of PTFE surface with an adhesion improvement to the glass surface as a smoothing a rough surface with needle-shape and/or the enhancement of an interface property as a removing some defects on the surface like a cleaning effect.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the characteristics of adhesion and detachment of algae on various materials of drainage canal in the sedimentation basin. The influence of surface washability, surface roughness, phosphorous concentration was studied using stainless steel, cement block and ceramic panel. The algae attached content of cement block was higher than that of the ceramic coating panel. The attachment varied significantly with respect to exposure time and different materials. the attachment was higher on rough surface (cement block) when compared to smooth surfaces. The content of attached algae increased with increasing phosphorous concentration in water. The detachment efficient of algae was higher on ceramic panel.

  • 금속기판 염료감응형 태양전지 서브모듈 제작 시, 금속기판 차단층 처리 유,무에 따른 전극 상태를 비교하였다. 차단층은 titanium diisopropoxide bis(acetylacetonate) 용액을 IPA 용매에 녹여 0.15M 농도로 만들어졌으며, 스핀코팅법을 이용하여 금속기판에 박막으로 코팅되었다. 차단층 코팅을 하지 않은 금속기판의 산화전극은 소성 후 깨짐현상이 발생하였으나, 차단층 코팅한 금속기판의 산화전극은 깨짐현상이 발생하지 않았고, 그 기판을 적용하여 염료감응형 태양전지 서브모듈을 제작, 성능 평가를 진행하였다.
