PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of additional acid etching and curing mechanism (light-curing or self-curing) of a composite resin on the dentin bond strength and compatibility of one-step self-etching adhesives. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Sixteen human permanent molars were randomly divided into eight groups according to the adhesives used (All-Bond Universal: ABU, Clearfil S3 Bond: CS3), additional acid etching (additional acid etching performed: EO, no additional acid etching performed: EX), and composite resins (Filtek Z-250: Z250, Clearfil FII New Bond: CFNB). Group 1: ABU-EO-Z250, Group 2: ABU-EO-CFNB, Group 3: ABU-EX-Z250, Group 4: ABU-EX-CFNB, Group 5: CS3-EO-Z250, Group 6: CS3-EO-CFNB, Group 7: CS3-EX-Z250, Group 8: CS3-EX-CFNB. After bonding procedures, composite resins were built up on dentin surfaces. After 24-hour water storage, the teeth were sectioned to make 10 specimens for each group. The microtensile bond strength test was performed using a microtensile testing machine. The failure mode of the fractured specimens was examined by means of an optical microscope at ${\times}20$ magnification. The data was analyzed using a one-way ANOVA and Scheffe's post-hoc test (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. Additional etching groups showed significantly higher values than the no additional etching group when using All-Bond Universal. The light-cured composite resin groups showed significantly higher values than the self-cured composite resin groups in the Clearfil S3 Bond. CONCLUSION. The additional acid etching is beneficial for the dentin bond strength when using low acidic one-step self-etch adhesives, and low acidic one-step self-etch adhesives are compatible with self-cured composite resin. The acidity of the one-step self-etch adhesives is an influencing factor in terms of the dentin bonding strength and incompatibility with a self-cured composite resin.

In Asia, sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is a very important crop for starch production. Approximately 74.3% of the total sweet potato production quantity is produced in Asia (FAO, 2014) and China is the largest producer of sweet potato. Post-harvest management is particularly important because it is difficult to maintain the quality as well as quantity of sweet potatoes. Despite the importance of post-harvest management, researches on sweet potato have been focused on production-related study such as breeding of new variety, improved techniques of cultivation, so there is limited research on storage after harvest. Curing is a normal practice after sweet potato harvest to promote wound healing and extend postharvest storage life. In Korea, harvested sweet potatoes are usually cured for 4 to 7 days at $30-33^{\circ}C$ and 80-95% relative humidity within one week. Since the optimum storage temperature of sweet potato is regarded as $15-20^{\circ}C$, additional facilities and costs are required to raise the temperature for curing. However, the majority of small farmers do not have the capacity to provide additional facilities and costs. This study was initiated to suggest a new curing method to accelerate the wound healing by applying chemical oxidation to the wound surface of sweet potato. Oxidative stress is known to play an important role in the synthesis of secondary metabolites including lignin. In addition, chemical oxidation can be applied to prevent spoilage caused by microorganisms. Powerful gaseous oxidant with excellent penetration ability and superior sterilization effect was selected for this study. Lignification, weight loss, and spoilage rate of artificially wounded sweet potatoes were investigated after oxidant fumigation. There were clear differences in morphological analysis such as lignification pattern, lignin deposition color, and continuity of lignified cell layers between oxidant-fumigated sweet potatoes and control. These results show that gaseous oxidant can be used to supplement or replace the curing practice, to improve shelf-life as well as curing cost reduction.

This study was carried out to examine application of surface adiabatic curing method in slightly cold weathering period. So, early aged freezing damage and compressive strength of concrete were examined through temperature analysis of construction concrete. Temperature analysis was carried out according to the average temperature, concrete placement completion time and surface adiabatic curing method. Analysis results show that additional curing plans are demanded in concrete construction below 0$^{circ}C$, surface adiabatic curing method is could apply in the average temperature more than -2$^{circ}C$ and curing method as heating are needed under -2$^{circ}C$.

The purpose of present study is to examine the long-term strength improvement of hardener-free epoxy-modified mortars with steam curing. As a result, strength improvement of hardener-free epoxy-modified mortars is markedly improved with increasing of air-dry curing period. This is improved by markedly increase the degree of hardening of the hardener-free epoxy resin in the epoxy-modified mortars with additional air-dry curing period.
Meta-kaolin (MK) and blast furnace slag (BS) were used as raw materials with NaOH and sodium silicate as alkali activators for making geo-polymers. The compressive strength with respect to the various pre-curing conditions was investigated. In order to improve the recycling rate of BS while still obtaining high compressive strength of the geo-polymers, it was necessary to provide additional CaO to the MK by adding BS. The specimens containing greater amounts of BS can be applied to fields that require high initial compressive strength. Alkali activator(s) are inevitably required to make geo-polymers useful. High temperature pre-curing plays an important role in improving compressive strength in geo-polymers at the early stage of curing. On the other hand, long-term curing produced little to no positive effects and may have even worsened the compressive strength of the geo-polymers because of micro-structural defects through volume expansion by high temperature pre-curing. Therefore, a pre-curing process at a medium range temperature of $50^{\circ}C$ is recommended because a continuous increase in compressive strength during the entire curing period as well as good compressive strength at the early stages can be obtained.

In winter, low outdoor temperature can casue reduction of concrete strength. Therefore, thermal protection is required when curing concrete in winter to maintain a certain level or higher surface temperature. Accordingly, in domestic construction sites, a curing method in which surrounds casting areas by tents and operates hot air blowers are widely applied. However, local low-temperature areas may occur due to airtightness of the curing tents. If additional heat is supplied to prevent occurrence of local low-temperature areas, energy consumption increases. Therefore in this study, a plan for improvement method of concrete curing was considered and the performance was evaluated through numerical analysis. A plan to improve the airtightness of the wall opening was applied, but the analysis showed that if only a part of the curing area is shielded, the temperature of the unshielded area decreases, making it inappropriate to improve curing performance.
The acrylic resin was first introduced as denture base materials in 1937 and it is commonly used for denture base fabrication nowadays. Three different curing cycles (Conventional curing cycle, short curing cycle and long curing cycle) and three commercially available heat-activated acrylic resins (Vertex RS, Lucitone 199 and ProBase Hot) were investigated to find the curing cycle and material that showed the minimum shrinkage of the resin during polymerization process. A brass master mold was fabricated and duplicated by additional silicone impression material. Stone molds were made by pouring of type III dental stone (SILKY-ROCK YELLOW, Whip-Mix, Louisville, Kentucky). It was embedded in the flask. Strain gauge and thermocouple were embedded in the specimen. Strain gauge and thermocouple were connected to signal conditioning amplifier and data was recorded by pre-programmed software. The parameters ESmax (Maximum expansion strain), Sb (Strain measured just before deflasking procedure), Sa (Strain measured just after deflasking procedure) and Sf (Strain measured at the end of the experiment) were measured. ${\Delta}$S was calculated from Sb and Sa (${\Delta}$S=Sb-Sa). In the experiment concerned about materials, the parameters 90-ESmax (Maximum expansion strain measured during early 90 minutes of curing procedure), 180-ESmax (Maximum expansion strain measured from 90 minutes to 180 minutes), Sb, Sa, ${\Delta}$S and Sf were measured and the following conclusions were made. 1. The ESmax value of conventional curing cycle showed the largest value and the 180-ESmax value of Lucitone 199 showed the smallest value. 90-ESmax values showed no significant difference (p<0.05). 2. ${\Delta}$S values of conventional curing cycle showed the positive values. ${\Delta}$S values of short curing cycle and long curing cycle showed the negative values. All three materials cured by conventional curing cycle showed the positive values. 3. The Sf values of long curing cycle and ProBase Hot (cured by conventional curing cycle) showed the smallest values.

Epoxy resin without any hardener can harden in the presence of hydroxide ions in cement mortars and concretes at ambient temperature. The purpose of present study is to examine the hardening properties of hardener-free epoxy-modified mortars by curing conditions. The hardener-free epoxy-modified mortars using diglycidyl ether of A epoxy resin are prepared with various polymer-cement ratios, and subjected to initial moist/dry curing, initial steam(90℃) curing, initial steam/heat(80℃, 100℃) curing. As a result, degree of hardening of epoxy resin in initial moist/dry cured, initial steam cured and initial steam/heat(80℃) cured hardener-free epoxy-modified mortars is decreased with increasing polymer-cement ratio. However, it is markedly improved with additional dry-curing periods. On the other hand, regardless of the polymer-cement ratio and dry curing periods, degree of hardening of hardener-free epoxy-modified mortars with initial steam/heat(100℃) cure is over 95%.
This study was designed to etermine the changes in the degree of conversion for composite resins after heat curing following the methods proposed by Lee & Park(1995). 8-mm diameter hole was made in 1mm teflon plate and one of three types of composites (Charisma, Brilllant, Z100) was placed and light cured for 60seconds. The samples were devided into 3 groups according to the placing composites. After light curing, the samples were separated from the moulds. Using this method, 10 samples were prepared in each group; 5 samples from each group were heat cured according to the methods proposed by manutfactures, These samples were then thinned to 50-$70{\mu}m$ and analysed with a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer. Standard baseline technique was used to calculate the degree of conversion. When the samples were light cured, the degrees of conversion in each groups were 47.1 % (charisma), 53.3% (Z100), and 70.1 % (Brilliant). The degree of conversion after heat curing were; 60.1 % (Charisma), 71.1 % (Z100), and 73.3 % (Brillant). Once the samples were heat cured, there were significant increases in degree of conversion.

The discharge of fly ash that is produced by coal-fired electric power plants is rapidly increasing in Korea. The utilization of fly ash in the raw materials would contribute to the elimination of an environmental problem and to the development of new high-performance materials. Fly ash consists of a glass phase. As it is produced from high temperature, it is a chemically stable material. Fly ash mostly consists of $SiO_{2}$ and $Al_{2}O_{3}$, and it assumes the form of an oxide in the inside of fly ash. Because this reaction has not broken out by itself, it is need to supply it with additional $OH^{-}$ through alkali activators. We used alkali activators for supplying it with additional $OH^{-}$. This paper concentrated on the strength development according to the kind of chemical activators, the curing temperature, the heat curing time.
