  • In regard to the planning of building evacuation in high-rise buildings, the current ruling provisions in domestic Acts are divided into the Building Act and the Fire Services Act to stipulate the requirements of evacuation facilities and the egress plan for fire safety. This fact of two divided Acts is the one reason that the planning of complete building evacuation in case of fire in the high-rise buildings could not have been accomplished successfully on the basic design basis with the current applying procedure of the two Korean Acts.

  • This study is to investigate the marital conflict resolution acts (CRA) of rural spouses and to explore the relationship between the CRA and several important factors : socio-demographic, marital relation and drinking pattern factors. Participants in this study are 150 rural women who are married and live with their husband. A modification of the Conflict Tactics Scale is used to measure the CRA of four levels, reasoning, verbal aggression, minor physical violence, and heavy physical violence. The major findings of this study are as follows. First the frequencies of each type of the CRA-reasoning, verbal aggression, minor physical violence and heavy physical violence-are 12.1%, 57.9%, 17.1% and 12.9% respectively. Therefore, the verbal aggression is the most prevalent type of the CRA Second, the result from multiple regression shows that the conflict from husband's whoring, husband's drinking capacity and family type have a meaningful impact on husband's physical violence.

  • In The White Card (2019), Claudia Rankine dramatically interrogates whiteness's persistent, reflexive habit of trying to preserve a state of innocence, expressing her vision of how this tendency blinds white liberal subjectivity to the structural reality of institutionalized racism in America. Rankine's exposure of the invisibility to which people of color are usually consigned by American whiteness is inseparable from her critical interrogation of how the hypervisibility of victims of racial violence provides white liberal subjectivity opportunities to intervene and feel good about itself. What Rankine enacts in the play is a process of repetition and revision, signifyin(g) on racial violence and its history; acts of racial violence continue to accrete, and her act of signifyin(g) on the countless acts of racial violence in America conveys the understanding that this text cannot be rewritten if white America continues to attend solely to individual, ostensibly isolated, acts of racial injustice.

  • This research focuses on 'dramaturgical' performance among all the acts of a director who constructs an artistic structure. This is, specifically, the dramaturgical acts that a director comes to perform in the process of dramatizing a novel. This paper aims to suggest a new kind of approach for productive interaction between drama theory and practice, not only by documenting the process of creation but also by moulding theoretical basis on acts of a director. As you all know, creative acts in practice so far have rarely been considered as subject and purpose of academic study. Even some lucky plays and directors had to settle for fragmentary review. That's mainly because Korean theatrical circles confine the way of recording the whole process of drama in practice only to a piecemeal review of performance. As a result, there have been very few cases of observing comtemporary plays under the historical background of drama. In this regard, this paper desires to raise a question, 'is productive interaction between drama theory and creative practice possible?' and to find the answer. If what is described in this paper can have worth beyond a mere record of creative acts, it may establish theoretical grounds on interpreting the play stage of this era by reading, in the contexts of drama history, a director's dramaturgical performing acts to dramatize a novel. The researcher of this paper, as a director of a theater troupe like a human and artistic community, adapted "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky into four plays. They are , , , , and completed in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2014, respectively as an independent theatric work having no connections to each other in story. Not only because the four plays share the same novel as its origin but also because an identical system is applied to dramatization of the novel, it gives an opportunity to focus on and perceive the role of the director. During the process of dramatiztion, the director, the researcher of this paper, carried all the duties, such as selecting a text, approaching the text theoretically and academically, adapting it for drama, picking out appropriate episodes. This paper defines all these acts as dramaturgical performing acts. In this sense, this paper can also be seen as a documentary of 'acts' performed during the process of dramatization.

  • Al-Qaeda follower who planned to attacks the Pentagon and the Assembly by unmanned aircraft equipped with explosives was caught in the dictionary in September 2011. In addition, high-performance unmanned aerial vehicles in the United States 'sentinel' of the technology being leaked to Iran in late 2011 was an accident. Terrorist attacks on the forces used unmanned aircraft will be the day the not too distant. The purpose of this research is to provide response plans against acts of terrorism utilizing unmanned aircrafts to prevent large losses of lives such as the terrorist attacks of September 11. Discussing in detail, this research suggests revising and newly implementing the definition and categorization of unmanned aircrafts as well as relevant punishment in current aeronautics regulations as an initial response against acts of terrorism utilizing unmanned aircrafts. This is in order to newly implement and revise current relevant regulations that inadequately address the rapidly developing and changing unmanned aircrafts which will lead to increased sense of alarm for the potential terrorists, and also to introduce a systematic tool to punish those who commit such acts by clearly establishing the grounds for punishment. Also, under the binary operating system over airspace currently implemented globally, it is impossible to identify and control the infiltration of airspace by unmanned aircrafts. Recognizing such limitations, this research suggests a combined operation of airspace for unmanned and manned aircrafts as a second way of response for acts of terrorism utilizing unmanned aircrafts. A systematic integrated operation of airspace will appropriately control unmanned/ manned aircrafts that were not previously reported or otherwise have deviated from navigation routes, and will be able to prevent terrorism attempts utilizing aircrafts beforehand.

  • This dissertation aims to study the five tastes in the Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine. Medicinals as well as Foods are classified by the five tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, salty and pungent, which can be tasted by the tongue. With the development of the theory dealing with the medicinal properties, some flavors are summarized out of clinical actions of medicinals, therefore, there is a little difference between the flavors of medicinal herbs and the tastes got by tongue. Each taste acts on or has direct influence on a specific vital organ, and each of which has different physiologic actions. Taste also has a long-term or post digestive effect on the body and its metabolism. When each taste is consumed in moderation, it benefits the corresponding organ. Over-indulgence in any taste harms the organ and creates imbalance among the five vital organ systems. The Korean medicinal herbs with same flavor mostly possess similar actions while the medicinal herbs with different flavors show different actions in the treatment, which are shown as follows. Sour has absorbing, consolidating and astringent actions and acts on the liver. Bitter has the actions of drying or resolving dampness, purging and lowering and acts on the heart. Sweet has the nourishing, harmonizing and moistening actions and acts on the spleen. Pungent has an action of dispersing and promoting circulation of gi and blood and acts on the lungs. Salty has the effects of softening hard nodes or masses and promoting defecation, etc and acts on the kidneys. The five organ systems control and support each other. Proper coordination only exists when there is no one organ stronger or weaker than the rest. Since the five tastes have direct influences on the five organs, the diet we take should have a good combination of the five tastes in order to promote internal balance and harmony. They control our well-being and create dietary balance. Excessive consumption of any of these could result in adverse effects. In a word, when the properties of the five tastes respectively are distinguished, their natures and flavors cannot be separately considered. I think the harmonization of food and medicinals should be stressed on good nutritional diet to maintain good health. The traditional belief that food and medicine share the same origin is a part of Korean medicine tradition.

  • A bidirectional dual active converter with the power factor control capability is proposed as a battery charger. The source side half-bridge acts as a PWM converter that maintains the unity power factor. The battery side half-bridge converter acts as a dual active bridge (DAB) together shares the same DC link voltage with PWM converter. The imbalance voltage phenomenon is eliminated by employing asymmetric duty cycle technique. Simulation results are included to verify theoretical analysis.

  • This paper continues the investigation of covers of cyclic acts over monoids. Special attention is paid to (P)-covers and strongly flat covers of cyclic acts. In 2008 Mahmoudi and Renshaw posed some open problems and we gave some examples on them in 2012. In this paper, we obtained some further results on these problems and hence gave some deeper answers to them.

  • Let $\Gamma$ be a discrete subgroup of hyperbolic isometries acting on the Poincare disc $B^m, m \geq 2$. The discrete group $\Gamma$ acts properly discontinously in $B^m$, and acts on $\partial B^m$ as a group of conformal homemorphisms, but need not act properly discontinously on $\partial B^m$.
