Modeling techniques such as linear regression have been used to predict hurricane activity many months in advance of the start of the hurricane season with some success. In this paper, we construct feedforward neural networks to model Atlantic basin hurricane activity and compare the predictions of our neural network models to the predictions produced by statistical models found in the weather forecasting literature. We find that our neural network models produce reasonably accurate predictions that, for the most part, compare favorably to the predictions of statistical models.
MX and its analogs are synthesized and modeled by quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) study including comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA). As a result, factors affecting this class of compounds have been found to be steric and electrostatic effects. Because hologram quantitative structure activity relationship (HQSAR) technique is based on the 2-dimensional descriptors, this is free of ambiguity of conformational selection and molecular alignment. In this study we tried to include all the data available from the literature, and modeled with the HQSAR technique. Among the parameters affecting fragmentation, connectivity was the most important one for the whole compounds, giving good statistics. Considering additional parameters such as bond specification only slightly improved the model. Therefore connectivity has been found to be the most appropriate to explain the mutagenicity for this class of compounds.

IDEF0 is the IEEE standard for functional enterprise modeling and has been used for business process modeling or process mapping in US and Europe. But it does not reflect the potential benefits of modeling and simulation of the dynamic aspects of an enterprise or a system. On the other hand, simulation tools concentrate mostly on the simulation of material flows and are difficult to include information flows and control flows. Additionally, the simulation models that include elements such as queues, event generators and process nodes is a visual interactive representation for the model builder, but is inconvenient for the domain expert. In an attempt to fill that void, we provide an integration of business process and simulation models in this paper. An enhancement of the IDEF0, called parameterized IDEF0, is proposed and its conversion mechanism to network simulation model is developed. Using this methodology, business process models for alternative systems can be evaluated and compared through simulation on time, cost, and quality metrics. As an application of the proposed methodology, economic evaluation of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) for time-based BPR (Business Process Redesign) is demonstrated. In addition to BPR, the developed methodology may be further integrated with ABC (Activity Based Costing), TQM (Total Quality Management), and economic evaluation of information systems.
As a result of the enormous amount of information that has been collected with E. coli over the past half century (e.g. genome sequence, mutant phenotypes, metabolic and regulatory networks, etc.), we now have detailed knowledge about gene regulation, protein activity, several hundred enzyme reactions, metabolic pathways, macromolecular machines, and regulatory interactions for this model organism. However, understanding how all these processes interact to form a living cell will require further characterization, quantification, data integration, and mathematical modeling, systems biology. No organism can rival E. coli with respect to the amount of available basic information and experimental tractability for the technologies needed for this undertaking. A focused, systematic effort to understand the E. coli cell will accelerate the development of new post-genomic technologies, including both experimental and computational tools. It will also lead to new technologies that will be applicable to other organisms, from microbes to plants, animals, and humans. E. coli is not only the best studied free-living model organism, but is also an extensively used microbe for industrial applications, especially for the production of small molecules of interest. It is an excellent representative of Gram-negative commensal bacteria. E. coli may represent a perfect model organism for systems biology that is aimed at elucidating both its free-living and commensal life-styles, which should open the door to whole-cell modeling and simulation.

B13, a ceramide analogue, is a ceramidase inhibitor and induces apoptosis to give potent anticancer activity. A series of thiourea B13 analogues was evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxic activities against human renal cancer Caki-2 and leukemic cancer HL-60 in the MTT assay. Some compounds (12, 15, and 16) showed stronger cytotoxicity than B13 and C6-ceramide against both tumor cell lines, and compound (12) gave the most potent activity with $IC_{50}$ values of 36 and $9\;{\mu}M$, respectively. Molecular modeling of thiourea B13 analogues was carried out by comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA). We obtained highly reliable and predictive CoMSIA models with cross-validated $q^2$ values of 0.707 and 0.753 and CoMSIA contour maps to show the structural requirements for potent activity. These data suggest that the amide group of B13 could be replaced by thiourea, that the stereochemistry of 1,3-propandiol may not be essential for activity and that long alkyl chains increase cytotoxicity.

NeQuick G is the ionosphere model utilized by Galileo single-frequency users to estimate the ionospheric delay on each user-satellite link. The model is characterized by the effective ionization level (Az) index, determined by a modified dip latitude (MODIP) and broadcast coefficients derived from daily global space weather observations. However, globally fitted Az coefficients may not accurately represent ionosphere within local area. This study introduces a method for regional ionospheric modeling that searches for locally optimized Az coefficients. This approach involves fitting TEC output from NeQuick G to TEC data collected from GNSS stations around Korea under various ionospheric conditions including different seasons and both low and high solar activity phases. The optimized Az coefficients enable calculation of the Az index at any position within a region of interest, accounting for the spatial variability of the Az index in a polynomial function of MODIP. The results reveal reduced TEC estimation errors, particularly during high solar activity, with a maximum reduction in the RMS error by 85.95%. This indicates that the proposed method for NeQuick G can effectively model various ionospheric conditions in local areas, offering potential applications in GNSS performance analyses for local areas by generating various ionospheric scenarios.

Background: This study aimed to develop and assess the psychometric features of the Physical Activity at Workplace Questionnaire (PAWPQ) based on the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) to evaluate employees' physical activity (PA) behaviors at the workplace. Methods: This psychometric cross-sectional study was conducted on 455 employees working in one of the gas refineries in Iran. The participants were selected using the proportional stratified sampling method in 2019. The data collection tools were a demographic information questionnaire, the short form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and a questionnaire developed based on the SCT, whose psychometric features were confirmed in terms of validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using SPSS22 and AMOS20 software. Results: The first version of PAWPQ-SCT had 74 items. After evaluating content and face validity, nine items were removed. The results of the content validity index (0.98), content validity ratio (0.86), and impact score (3.62) were acceptable for the whole instrument. In exploratory factor analysis, after removing seven items-58-item final version of the scale-six factors could explain 73.54% of the total variance. The results of structural equation modeling showed the acceptable fit of the model into the data (RMSEA = 0.052, CFI = 0.917, NFI = 0.878, TLI = 0.905, IFI = 0.917, CMIN/DF = 2.818). Cronbach's alpha coefficient and Intraclass Correlation were 0.90 and 0.86, respectively. Conclusion: This study confirmed that the psychometric features of the 58-item final version of PAWPQSCT constructs were acceptable in a sample of Iranian employees. This questionnaire can be used as a valid and reliable tool to evaluate Iranian employees' PA behaviors and develop effective educational interventions for workers and managers.
This study empirically examines the correlation between the data, system, service quality, collective intelligence, innovation activity, and work performance of the KMS for employees of state-run enterprises. This study also confirmed that collective intelligence and innovation activity have a mediating effect on the relationship between KMS system quality and work performance. For this study, employees of state-run enterprises completed a 5-point Likert scale survey, and the data obtained were analyzed with descriptive statistics. The reliability and validity of variables were also verified through a measurement model analysis. Structural equation modeling of IBM SPSS 26 and AMOS 26 were used to prove the hypothesis. Through this study, For the improvement of sustainable work performance of state-run enterprises, which is a difficult issue to solve, not only should the quality of the KMS utilized in the enterprises be improved and managed, but also the design for various incentive schemes tailored to the enterprises' job characteristics, such as rewards, HR bonus, work incentives, job allowance, and encouragement from the head of the enterprise, should be reviewed and continuously developed in reflection of the active collective intelligence of the employees and the effect of innovation activities. Then, the work performance of public institutions will increase.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the mediation effects of parenting style and daily activity on the relationships between cumulative parental stress and cognitive and language development of children. Methods: The participants of this study were 1,154 mothers, their five-year-old children, and teachers enrolled in the population-based study of the Panel Study of Korea Children (PSKC) conducted by the Korea Institute of Childcare and Education from 2008 to 2013. In order to analyze the data, descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling were used. Results: The results revealed that warm parenting style as well as daily activity had dual mediating effects between cumulative parental stress and child development (cognitive and language development). However, warm parenting style did not have any direct effects on child development in this model. Conclusion/Implications: Given that actual mother-child daily activity had an important role in affecting child development, support programs for parenting should include activities that include specific materials and activities which parents can do with their children in everyday life.
Purpose - Recently, entrepreneurship education has been revitalized with interest in entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship education is an educational service activity that is provided for entrepreneurship and individual start-up success within a certain period of time. According to previous studies on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship, the satisfaction of entrepreneurship education affects entrepreneurship and as a result increases entrepreneurship. In recent years, the number of female entrepreneurs has also increased as the number of entrepreneurial issues has increased. Based on previous studies, this research proposed the theoretical framework about the structural relationships among mentoring quality (career development, psychological social, role modeling), education satisfaction, recommendation intention and entrepreneurial intention. This study is to find out the possibility of attempting to create a theoretical basis for entrepreneurial mentoring education in entrepreneurship education program. Research design, data, and methodology - In this model, mentoring quality consists of three sub-dimensions such as career development, psychological social, and role modeling. In order to test research model and hypotheses, the data were collected from 203 female college students who participated in entrepreneurial education. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equational modeling with SPSS 24.0 and SmartPLS 3.0 statistical program. Result - The results of the study are as follows. First, role modeling has a positive effect on recommendation intention and entrepreneurial intention. Second, career development has a strong negative effect on the entrepreneurial intention. Third, career development and role modeling had a positive effect on educational satisfaction, and educational satisfaction had positive influence on recommendation intention and entrepreneurial intention. Conclusions - As women's social advancement becomes more active, start-up support programs including entrepreneurship mentoring are increasing. The results of this study suggest how to use the mentoring program mix and how to allocate the resources for the education program when the entrepreneurial education manager plans and executes the mentoring education program. For example, this study shows that career development and role modeling enhance educational satisfaction, and in turn increase recommendation intention and entrepreneurial intention. This means that entrepreneurship education should consist of contents that include career development functions such as sponsorship, guidance, protection, and provision of challenging work. In addition, the findings of this study indicate that mentors should perform the function of allowing the participants to have confidence and professional thinking ability at the time of start up based on their experiences.
