  • The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the acceptance of disabilities among adults with acquired disabilities based on ecological theory, utilizing raw data from the 4th Disability and Life Dynamics Panel in 2021. The results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that individual factors such as 'gender,' 'type of disability,' 'severity of disability,' 'marital status,' 'education,' 'employment status,' 'depression,' 'self-esteem,' and 'overall health in the past six months,' interpersonal factors like 'emotional support and assistance,' and organizational and environmental factors including the 'level of difficulty in using disability-related services' and 'overall satisfaction with disability welfare services' were found to impact the acceptance of disabilities among adults with acquired disabilities. Based on these research findings, it is suggested that efforts in the community to enhance the acceptance of disabilities among adults with acquired disabilities should go beyond individual dimensions, increasing opportunities for social interactions and fostering a disability-friendly environment.

  • This study examines how disability pride of people having acquired visual impairment can be constructed. The theme is explored with the Japanese TV drama "Challenged". The paradigms regarding construction of disability pride and acceptance of disability are fundamentally different. In this context it can be said that a criticism of disability acceptance theory has something with a criticism of medical model of disability. It is main character Hanawa and chairman of teachers, and principal who were noticeable specifically at the point of forming disability pride, and these characters show a common feature that social idealism is embodied in their awareness. Other characters of the drama show a change of their consciousness to social idealism. As a conclusion this study suggests importances of humanistic and social scientific analysis as well as of educational effects achieved by means of drama.

Since then, the facilities and the services for the disabled persons have expanded rapidly and the rehabilitation treatment and nursing intervention are drawing more attention. Against this background, the survey on the current status of disabilities, welfare service, facilities, and rehabilitation nursing was conducted. The results of this survey are as follows. 1. According to the 2000 census of disabilities, the number of persons with disabilities in Korea is estimated at 1,449,500, or 3.09% of the entire Korean population, 0.74% up from 2.35% in 1995. 2. Disability Types in 2000 The 2000 census showed that the persons with disabilities numbered 1,449,496 out of the total population and 1,024,371 persons are registered for disability, making up 70.7% of the estimated disabled population. Among them, physically disabled persons accounted for the largest 41.7% (605,127) and mentally retarded persons stood at the smallest 9% (13,481). 3. Percentage of Disability Presence The survey showed that more than 90% of disability were acquired. However, 44.8% of mental disability and 61.4% of hearing/speaking disability were not acquired after birth. This means that these disabilities happened by congenital cause or birth accident. 4. Yearly Figure of Registered Disabled Persons In 1989, 218,601 persons registered for disability and, in 2000, the number increased by 4.7 times to 1,024,371. These figures are different from the actual number of disabled persons. According to the 1995 census, 1,053,486 were disabled persons but only 378,323registered for disability. And, in the 2000 census, 1,024,371 out of the 1,449,496 of disabled persons registered for disability. 5. Welfare Service for Persons with Disability 62.6% of the total disabled people are registered and physically disabled persons accounted for the highest percentage of 96.7%. 26.5% of non-registered disabled people said that they didnt know the registration procedure. The rest of them replied that they didnt think they were disabled or that registration didnt seem to give any benefits. 6. • It is revealed that there are more registered disabled people in our country who have their disability because of acquired factors such as accidents than because of innate deformity. This phenomenon will continue and the incidence of acquired disability will increase more and more. Even though there is noticeable change, the social recognition toward the disabled is still negative. Particularly, university students are in the early adulthood according to the development of life-cycle, and this is the period that people have diverse social relationships, depart from unified frame and work in various fields, and set up their own thoughts and ideology with knowledge and skills acquired from university education. Therefore, in this study, we are going to search the recognition of the university students, who are in the previous period of entering into the society, toward the disabled, and if they have negative prejudice or attitude against the disabled, we are going to find the ways to improve on their awareness positively. The subjects of the survey were randomly selected among 230 out of total 250 students by visiting thirteen universities in Chungcheong Province, and were analyzed by using SPSS (ver. 18.0) program. T-test and One-way ANOVA were used as analytical methods to look into the difference of analysis of frequency, descriptive statistic, reliability analysis and attitudes for comprehending sociodemographic characteristics of the subjects of the survey. In conclusion, it has to be not a temporary or event-like training, but a training that makes people have positive recognition and attitude towards accurate information, knowledge, human rights, disability, and diversity. This thesis has a limitation to be generalized to the university students all over the country since the region is limited to a certain area.

  • As society becomes more complex and advanced, the risk of accidents is inevitably increased, and this is an opportunity to increase the occurrence of not only congenital disabilities but also acquired disabilities. In this situation, the use of rehabilitation robots, a complex of advanced technologies, is expected to increase steadily in the future. So the authors would take a look the technological trends and future development prospects of domestic and foreign rehabilitation robots. Until now, disability assistive robot technology has been mainly developed in the field of supporting disability with walking disabilities or work limitations rather than cognitive disabilities. However, another issue of population aging is that cognitive impairment has the potential to increase, so development of a disability assistance robot that secures user safety must be actively promoted. It is thought that empirical results should be derived and converged

  • Purpose of this study is to compare and analyze effect of exercise intensity in complex training for 8 weeks on leptin, growth hormone, IGF-1, and body composition in middle school with intellectual disability. Subjects of this study were 26 middle school students, 9 in high-intensity group, 9 in middle-intensity group, and 8 in low-intensity group. To compare the difference from different exercise intensity, pre-value before training has been set as covariate and different exercise intensity has been set as independent variable, with changes in leptin, growth hormone, IGF-1, and body composition. Analysis of covariance (ANOVA) has been performed for data analysis and effect size ${\eta}^2$(eta) has been deduced. Result acquired from analyzed data is as following. First, when equal exercise has been imposed on middle school students with intellectual disability, in regard of exercise intensity, it was shown that leptin most decreased in middle-intensity, growth hormone most increased in middle-intensity, and IGF-1 increased in low-intensity. Second, in regard of body composition, low-intensity was most effective in increase of total body weight without fat. Decrease of body fat was most prominent in middle-intensity and increase of bone density, in low-intensity. Also, in further studies, study that differentiates subjects in gender and individual exercise performance is deemed mandatory.
