The objective of this project is to improve the environment of the estuary dike on the Youngsan-River through Re-landscaping. An estuary dike of the Youngsan-River, the largest in the Orient, was constructed in 1981 and connects Mokpo City and Youngam-Gun province. Twenty years ago, when this dike was completed, this place was one of the famous tourist attractions of Korea. It symbolized the development and growth of Korea. But this dike at present is only a dreary sight as a huge concrete construction element. Therefore, a wall painting on the estuary dike was planned to improve this image. The site, an estuary dike of the Youngsan-River, is located in Mokpo City and its length is about 1,360m. The planning focus of this re-landscaping, which is a proposed improvement design through the analysis of characteristics and problems in conventional facilities, is as follows: (1) Introduction of a wall painting that is a symbol of the sea and river (by the creation of an illusion), (2) Production of the wall painting which is under consideration to create a friendly atmosphere of the circumference view and (3) Preparation of a design to establish an approach to the waterfront. By following these steps, an estuary dike can function as a tourist attractions and can be transformed in to cultural space for civilian. This project is good example of environment design that is completed with the regional residents participation through community input in the planning and initiation of a wall painting. The concept of environment design which involves the residents participation and re-landscaping in Korea has not been established up to now on. However, as this projects has proven, consideration for regional residents is a very important factor for the administrative office and planing specialist to address. In the future, it will have a direct influence on the development of design planning. If the establishment of space that can be accepted by residents with love, affection and self-confidence is possible, environment design in which residents participate actively, can be realized.

Present family pattern of Korean society has been changed into nuclear family pattern based on the married couple from traditional expanded family pattern. As the entire social consciousness has been changed into private disposition, the number of independent household for 1 person has increases. Also, as the delivery age of first child became late according to the elongation of average period for the national education, the increment of average age for the first marriage and women's participation in the society, the family pattern of married couple lasts longer than used to be. Like this, considering the family formed period comprised from a household for 1 person to a household for 1married couple and senescence increase, as any response is inevitable for the requirement of residential space where 1~2 dwellers' life can be accepted economic and functionally within smaller scaled space, development and research on a plan system(flexible-typed plan) increasing the degree of freedom is required in developing plan of unit household. In the study for this, considering the change of population and social structure, I suggest the method in developing economic design responding to the differentiation, designing the change of support-system and infill-system based on the systemic comprehension about the residing environment in the family formation period and the research for main life pattern and residing environment in the family formation period in the present city life. I will set (family) composing system, develop basic and mixing typed standard model and establish the stage of applied development for the development of economic design.
This thesis is designed to take a close look into the characteristics of architectural space through the standard of beauty, which has been created apart from our desires at certain cultural or historical periods of time. It will try to construct the outline of conception about the beauty throughout many centuries. First of all, contents of the research will focus on the aspects, which people have been considering as beauty eversince the ancient time without having any assumptions on its concept. For example, if the beauty of art has been accepted by the theories of modern aesthetics while degrading the beauty of nature, its value could have possibly been much more appreciated. The standard of beauty has been going through the process of change in such history of mankind. The general standard of beauty, which was established in the ancient time was the proportion and harmony between many elements. Afterwards, beauty was expressed as colors and light in medieval times. Expression of beauty using ugly features such as monsters or demons also existed at the time. Beauty has been periodically developing from supernatural to gracious, rational, noble, romantic, religious, mechanical, and today's media. The concept of beauty established from the above has been appearing throughout various culture such as dress and decoration at the given period of time. It would later affect the formation of space as well as decoration for architectures and styles. It will be analyzed throughout the five design elements; style, composition, materials, components, and form. The thesis would like to find the spatial order of beauty from the result of the analysis. The analysis will examine the possibility for which the recomposition of beauty will be provided as a design process for the new era. The Greek beauty represents a shape. The shape represents proportion and the proportion represents given numbers. However, beauty is being expressed by the opposite process at the present time. In other words, computers will arrange the numbers, which would formalize the proportion between the numbers. Beauty would be presented when the shape is presented as certain forms.

Current identity management 1.0 model, which is service provider-centric and isolated, has several problems such as low usability, high cost structure, difficulty in privacy protection, and lack of trust infrastructure. Though various SSO-based identity management 2.0 models including Passport/Live ID, Liberty Alliance/SAML, CardSpace, and OpenID have been recently developed in order to overcome those problems, they are not widely accepted in real Internet environment so as to replace the existing identity management 1.0 model. This paper firstly analyzes the widely-known identity 2.0 models in a comparative way, and then presents a perspective on the development direction of identity management 3.0 model for future Internet.
Linking between a virtual space and a physical space, ubiquitous computing is expected to create new business value. So far, however, there is no broadly accepted methodology to develop the services based on ubiquitous computing technology. Hence, this study aims to seek a systematic methodology for developing new services based on the concept of business model and to apply this in the areas of waste management practices. In addition, based on the evaluation of u-business services in waste management domain, killer services were selected, and then linked with the latest ubiquitous computing technologies. The results of this study are to be applicable to an environment friendly ubiquitous service model of u-City.
The contemporary shoes have been progressively trying a variety of designs using patterns as well as the formative change. However, for making those patterns secure the continuing values as the design having global competitiveness without being a temporal trend, it is required to develop the patterns which reflect the unique identity of Korea. Such development can be realized through the analysis on the traditional patterns of Korea. The patterns are the symbol of collective values. The traditional patterns implicitly express the philosophical thinking of members in a society as having been inherited up to now. Thus, this paper analyzed the gilt bronze shoes in Three Kingdoms Era using the patterns as unique design elements among traditional shoes of Korea. The symbolism of those patterns was expressed as transcendence of time and space, harmony of spirit and materials, and convergence of a region and religion. On the aspect that our ancestors interpreted and overcame the bounds of nature around human beings, pursued the ideal beyond reality and accepted a variety of thoughts, it is considered that the patterns used in gilt bronze shoes expressed anthropocentricism, idealism and inclusivism.

The present with in this country, rock bolt installation, shotcrete, and concrete lining in construction order has become accepted as a general tunnelling method in NATM. On the other hand Unlined tunnelling method, which was developed by many countries near Scandinavian Peninsula with hard rocks comparatively, has recently been introduced all over the world, and numerous studies about that have been being devoted to domestic tunnels. Unlined tunnelling method has been developed on the basis of the permanently unsupported openings, and general 7 requirements for them were suggested by Nick Barton. There are no case record about these conditions for Q-system in this country. Therefore, input parameters for Q-system under these conditions were applied to general road tunnel cross-section and numerical analyses for each condition were executed with UDEC-BB, Distinct Element Method.

In urban areas, it is very often to excavate ground adjacent to existing structures for the construction of new buildings. Deformation and vibration induced by such construction activities may cause damages to the existing structures and petitions from citizens. To secure safety of the existing structures, particularly of tunnels, establishment of general guidelines on vibration have been crucial concerns, although some institutions have their own guidelines which are not generally accepted. This study aims establishing guidelines for tunnel safety due to blast-induced vibration. Numerical methods are adopted for this study. Blast load equation proposed by International Society of Explosive Engineers (2000) is used to decide detonation pressure. Analysis models were obtained from the construction cases of Seoul Metros. By performing dynamic numerical analysis, vibration velocity of an existing tunnel is evaluated. The numerical results are verified by comparing with the field measurement data obtained in excavation sites adjacent to an existing tunnel. Based on the results vibration safety zone is proposed. Influence circle for vibration velocity is drawn and the area not exceeding the allowable vibration velocity is established.
It is generally known that the temple structure in Korea was formalized by the ceremonial principle based on the Buddhist cosmology. But, there have been no concrete studies on how far the two have relationship with each other and what significance it implies in it. In other words, even though the temple structure reflects the Sumeru Mount cosmology which is the Buddhist cosmology, there is still uncertain aspects in the relationship between them. This research is a more concrete approach on what kind of corelation the Sumeru Mount cosmology has with the Korean temple structure. For this, the levels of related documents on the Buddhist cosmology and the Sumeru Mount cosmology have been arranged first. Then, on this basis, it is searched with what symbolism the cosmology has been accepted in the temple structure. The temple is a sacred space that holds Buddha and a profane space which the sattva (ordinary people) can approach at the same time. The site of the temple is also a land that is connected to the residence of sattva and a blissful area of prayer that they can be born again through Buddha at the same time. Thus, the double characteristics of sanctity and profanity are finally inter-connected with each other in the view point of Jinsokburi(Truth and Worldliness are not different), and the temple structure reflects this significance through the symbolism very well. Therefore, the correct recognition on the temple structure can be said as an important aspect to understand the purpose of Buddhism.
Through 16-17th century, Neo-Confucianism was accepted and extended to Chosun Dynasty. The architecture of the Taegae school made buildings of Yongnam area rich by adding the regional characteristics based on Taegae's thought of architecture. The following is the architectural characteristics of the academic clique around Sangju. Transformation such as separation and combination of the Jeongsa space by function, lifted floor type reflecting local feature or high platform was appeared, and the architectural characteristics of the Taegae school, that is, a small scale, a moderate figure, a type of side-attached floor, landscape, were still maintained at the same time. The characteristics of the Taegae school and regional figure of Sangju were well joined. The upper class houses, Seodang, Jeongsa and Seowon, built by Confucianist had shared common Confucian characteristics in spite of their different purposes. The world view of the Confucianism such as sacrifice for sages, cultivation, devoting for study, teaching disciples, and education for villagers was revealed through the Confucian architecture including dwelling houses during the 16-17th century. Buildings of Confucianist were focused on the space for men. Seoae and Kyumam built two different Jeongsa's inside and outside of the boundary of the nakdong river. While Seodang and Jeongsa located outside of the boundary of the river were built excluding spaces for living, the function of the Jeongsa located inside of the boundary of the river was assimilated by Sarangcahe. However, both buildings kept the function for cultivation, devoting for study and teaching.
