  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm on OOV(Out-of-Vocabulary) rejection based on two-stage method. In the first stage, the algorithm rejects OOVs using generic word model, and then in the second stage, for further reduction of false acceptance, it rejects words which have low similarity to the candidate by measuring the distance between HMM models. For the experiment, we choose 20 in-vocabulary words out of PBW445 DB distributed by ETRI. In case that the first stage is processed only, the false acceptance is 3% with 100% correct acceptance, and in case both stages are processed, the false acceptance is reduced to 1% with 100% correct acceptance.

  • In this paper, nonstationary multiple sampling plans are discussed which are difficult to solve by analytical method when there exists dependency between the sample data. The initial solution is found by the sequential sampling plan using the sequential probability ration test. The number of acceptance and rejection in each step of the multiple sampling plan are found by grouping the sequential sampling plan's solution initially. The optimal multiple sampling plans are found by simulation. Four search methods are developed U and the optimum sampling plans satisfying the Type I and Type ll error probabilities. The performance of the sampling plans is measured and their algorithms are also shown. To consider the nonstationary property of the dependent sampling plan, simulation method is used for finding the lot rejection and acceptance probability function. As a numerical example Markov chain model is inspected. Effects of the dependency factor and search methods are compared to analyze the sampling results by changing their parameters.

  • We propose some properties of fuzzy p-value and fuzzy significance level to the test statistics for the fuzzy hypotheses testing. Appling the principle of agreement index, we suggest two method for fuzzy hypothesis testing by fuzzy rejection region and fuzzy p-value with fuzzy hypothesis $H_{f,0}$.

  • In a standard Metropolis-type Monte Carlo simulation, the proposal distribution cannot be easily adapted to "local dynamics" of the target distribution. To overcome some of these difficulties, Duane et al. (1987) introduced the method of hybrid Monte Carlo(HMC) which combines the basic idea of molecular dynamics and the Metropolis acceptance-rejection rule to produce Monte Carlo samples from a given target distribution. In this paper, using the HMC within Gibbs sampler, an asymptotical estimate of the smoothing mean and a general solution to state space modeling in Bayesian framework is obtaineds obtained.

  • In this paper, we propose the biometrics system using hand vein pattern. This system is for management about person's entrance/exit in vessel USN. we select the biometrics method using hand vein pattern as adoptable method to vessel USN environment. Our experimental results show that preprocessing using two dimensional gabor filter achieves performance improvements over high pass filtering. Also, we compared our method with measured FAR(False Acceptance Rate) and FRR(False Rejection Rate) using pattern matching, the results show low error rate over high pass filtering. As a result, we verify the adoptability of biometrics system using hand vein pattern in management of person's entrance/exit in vessel.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the attitude of nurses toward transsexuals. Method: The Q-methodology which provides a method of analyzing the subjectivity of each item was used. Twenty-nine nurses classified the 50 selected Q-statements into a normal distribution using a 9 point scale. The collected data was analyzed using the Quanl PC program. Result: Four types of attitudes toward transsexuals were identified. The first type (humanitarian acceptance) showed an attitude of respecting transsexuals as human beings and understanding and accepting their desires and difficulties. The second type (superficial understanding) understood the psychological conflicts and suffering of transsexuals but could not accept them as members of families or society, The third type (insufficient understanding) did not feel a sense of rejection toward transsexuals but showed a lack of understanding of their desires and difficulties. The fourth type (rejection) failed to understand the desires and difficulties of transsexuals and showed a sense of rejection toward them, in addition to regarding them as sexually immoral people. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that different. approaches of educational programs based on the four types of attitudes toward transsexuals are recommended.

  • In this paper, we proposed ACM (Anti-filler confidence measure) to compensate shortcoming of conventional RLJ-CM (RLJ-CM) and NCM (normalized CM), and integrated proposed ACM and conventional NCM using HCM (hybrid CM). Proposed ACM analyzes that FA (false acceptance) happens by the construction method of anti-phone model, and presumed phoneme sequence in actuality using phoneme recognizer to compensate this. We defined this as anti-phone model and used in confidence measure calculation. Analyzing feature of two confidences measure, conventional NCM shows good performance to FR (false rejection) and proposed ACM shows good performance in FA. This shows that feature of each other are complementary. Use these feature, we integrated two confidence measures using weighting vector α And defined this as HCM. In MDR (missed detection rate) 10% neighborhood, HCM is 0.219 FA/KW/HR (false alarm/keyword/hour). This is that Performance improves 22% than used conventional NCM individually.

  • Image feature extraction is one of the basic works for biometric analysis. This paper presents the novel concept of application of ridgelets for iris recognition systems. Ridgelet transforms are the combination of Radon transforms and Wavelet transforms. They are suitable for extracting the abundantly present textural data that is in an iris. The technique proposed here uses the ridgelets to form an iris signature and to represent the iris. This paper contributes towards creating an improved iris recognition system. There is a reduction in the feature vector size, which is 1X4 in size. The False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and False Rejection Rate (FRR) were also reduced and the accuracy increased. The proposed method also avoids the iris normalization process that is traditionally used in iris recognition systems. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method achieves an accuracy of 99.82%, 0.1309% FAR, and 0.0434% FRR.
