  • In this paper, we changed $SF_6$ insulation gases used already in the GIB(Gas Insulated Bus, gas insulated busbar) of switching appliances of power grid 170[kV] GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear, Gas Insulated Switchgear) with green insulation dry air gases and studied dielectric breakdown voltage characteristics by the AC voltage withstand test. Withstand test AC voltage applied to the standard KEPCO's 170[kV] GIB with dry air insulation and and the equivalent of dry air and $SF_6$ gas were examined. Breakdown voltage of dry air, using an expression of the experiments were calculated and AC Withstand criterion of dry air insulation for the AC voltage test was derived. Using the criterion, dry air gases can be used instead of the $SF_6$ gas was confirmed in the factory acceptance test at 170[kV] GIB.

  • The specific purpose of this study is to develop the numerical guide for the cost-benefit analysis of ORE ($/person-Sv reduction) to meet the criterion of ALARA in the design stage of the KNGR. In deriving the guide, the risk factor which is defined by the risk to unit collective radiation exposure dose (deaths/person-Sv) and the monetary value of human life ($/death) are required. The risk factor has been estimated from various clinical data accumulated for a number of years and continuously modified. And the monetary value of human life is usually quantified using the human capital approach. In this study, the risk to radiation exposure perceived by a group of people is investigated through an extensive poll survey conducted among university students in order to modify the existing risk factor for radiation exposure. And in evaluating the monetary value of human life, the QOL factor is introduced in order to incorporate the degree of public welfare or quality of life. As a result of study, a value within the range of 151, 000~172, 000 dollars per person-Sv reduction is recommended as the appropriate interim numerical guide for cost-benefit analysis of ORE to meet the criterion of ALARA in the design stage of the KNGR. A poll survey was also conducted in order to see whether the public acceptance cost of nuclear power should be incorporated in developing the guide, and the result of study shooed that such a cost does not need to be considered.

  • In this paper accelerated life testing is incorporated in quality control technique of acceptance sampling plan to induce early failures in high reliability products.Stress under accelerated condition can be applied in constant-stress, step-stress and progressive-stress or combination of such loadings. A ramp-stress results when stress is increased linearly (from zero) with time. In this paper optimum failure-censored ramp-stress accelerated life test sampling plan for log-logistic distribution has been formulated with cost considerations. The log-logistic distribution has been found appropriate for insulating materials. The optimal plans consist in finding optimum sample size, sample proportion allocated to each stress, and stress rate factor such that producer's and consumer's interests are safeguarded. Variance optimality criterion is used when expected cost per lot is not taken into consideration, and bilevel programming approach is used in cost optimization problems. The methods developed have been illustrated using some numerical examples, and sensitivity analyses carried out in the context of ramp-stress ALTSP based on variable SSP for proportion nonconforming.

  • A stochastic simulated anneal ins (SSA) is a recent approach to the solution of problems characterized by large number of interacting degrees of freedom. SSA simulates the degrees of freedom in a problem in a such a way that they are a collection of atoms slowly being coolded into a ground state which would correspond to the stationary point of the problem. In this paper, for a randomly disturbed current design, SSA optimization technique is used, which establishes a probabilistic criterion for acceptance or rejection of current design and iteratively improves it to arrive at a stationary Point at which critical temperature is reached. Simple truss optimization problem which consider as their constraints only the tensile and compressive yielding strength of the members are tested using SSA. Satisfactory results are obtained and some discussions are given for the behavior of SSA on the tested truss structures.

  • In this paper, failure probabilities of the OPR1000 reactor vessel under pressurized thermal shock (PTS) were estimated using the probabilistic fracture mechanics code, R-PIE. Input variables of initial crack distribution, crack size, copper contents, and upper shelf toughness were selected for the sensitivity analyses. A wide range of the input data were considered. Through-wall cracking frequencies determined by the product of the vessel failure probability and the corresponding occurrence frequency of the transient were also compared to the acceptance criterion. The results showed that transient history had the most significant impact on the vessel failure probability. Moreover, conservative assumptions resulted in extremely high through-wall cracking frequencies.

  • A major challenge in cloud infrastructure is the efficient allocation of virtual network elements on top of substrate network elements. Path algebra is a mathematical framework which allows the validation and convergence analysis of the mono-constraint or multi-constraint routing problems independently of the network topology or size. The present study proposes a new heuristic approach based on mathematical framework "paths algebra" to map virtual nodes and links to substrate nodes and paths in cloud. In this approach, we define a measure criterion to rank the substrate nodes, and map the virtual nodes to substrate nodes according to their ranks by using a greedy algorithm. In addition, considering multi-constraint routing in virtual link mapping stage, the used paths algebra framework allows a more flexible and extendable embedding. Obtained results of simulations show appropriate improvement in acceptance ratio of virtual networks and cost incurred by the infrastructure networks.

  • This study suggests 5 evaluation criteria (safety and technology, environmental impact, economic feasibility, social factors, and institutional factors) and 24 evaluation indicators for a NFC (nuclear fuel cycle) derived using factor analysis. To do so, a survey using 1 on 1 interview was given to nuclear energy experts and local residents who live near nuclear power plants. In addition, by conducting a factor analysis, homogeneous evaluation indicators were grouped with the same evaluation criteria, and unnecessary evaluation criteria and evaluation indicators were dropped out. As a result of analyzing the weight of evaluation criteria with the sample of nuclear power experts and the general public, both sides recognized safety as the most important evaluation criterion, and the social factors such as public acceptance appeared to be ranked as more important evaluation criteria by the nuclear energy experts than the general public.

  • This work reports the acceptance testing and commissioning experience of the Robotic Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) M6 system with a newly released $InCise^{TM}2$ Multileaf Collimator (MLC) installed at the Yonsei Cancer Center. Acceptance testing included a mechanical interdigitation test, leaf positional accuracy, leakage check, and End-to-End (E2E) tests. Beam data measurements included tissue-phantom ratios (TPRs), off-center ratios (OCRs), output factors collected at 11 field sizes (the smallest field size was $7.6mm{\times}7.7mm$ and largest field size was $115.0mm{\times}100.1mm$ at 800 mm source-to-axis distance), and open beam profiles. The beam model was verified by checking patient-specific quality assurance (QA) in four fiducial-inserted phantoms, using 10 intracranial and extracranial patient plans. All measurements for acceptance testing satisfied manufacturing specifications. Mean leaf position offsets using the Garden Fence test were found to be $0.01{\pm}0.06mm$ and $0.07{\pm}0.05mm$ for X1 and X2 leaf banks, respectively. Maximum and average leaf leakages were 0.20% and 0.18%, respectively. E2E tests for five tracking modes showed 0.26 mm (6D Skull), 0.3 mm (Fiducial), 0.26 mm (Xsight Spine), 0.62 mm (Xsight Lung), and 0.6 mm (Synchrony). TPRs, OCRs, output factors, and open beams measured under various conditions agreed with composite data provided from the manufacturer to within 2%. Patient-specific QA results were evaluated in two ways. Point dose measurements with an ion chamber were all within the 5% absolute-dose agreement, and relative-dose measurements using an array ion chamber detector all satisfied the 3%/3 mm gamma criterion for more than 90% of the measurement points. The Robotic IMRT M6 system equipped with the $InCise^{TM}2$ MLC was proven to be accurate and reliable.

  • U. S. NRC Regulation Guide 1.52 regulating ESF ACS in nuclear power plants has been revised to revision 3. To apply reduction of operability test time, allowance of alternative challenge agents for in-place leak test of HEPA filters, and upgrade of Methyl Iodide penetration acceptance criterion in activated carbon performance test suggested in Reg. Guide 1.52(Rev.3) on Yonggwang units 5 and 6 ESF ACSes, technical feasibility study was carried out with on-site experiments as well as experiments with a lab-scale model. It was confirmed that the moisture in the system returned to the level before the test in 1 or 4 days even though the moisture was removed during the operability test lasting more than 10 hours. Therefore, it is appropriate to perform monthly operability test in 15 minutes just long enough to check the operability of equipment. To change challenge material for in-place HEPA filter leak test, size of aerosol, production rate, and leak detection capability were compared for DOP and PAO. It was concluded that PAO can be substituted for DOP in nuclear power plants. The upgrade of Methyl Iodide penetration acceptance criterion from 0.175 % to 0.5 % in active carbon filter bed deeper than 4 inches was to conform to the change of activated carbon performance test method to ASTM D3803(1989). It was confirmed that Methyl Iodide penetration acceptance criterion of 0.5 % under $30^{\circ}C$, relative humidity 95 % condition was conservatively good enough for testing performance of active carbon insitu. The licence change of Yonggwang units 5 and 6 has been completed based on this study.

  • The permitted limit, ${\pm}12%$, of the change in solid contents based on ASTM C 494 as an interim standard in Korea Expressway Corporation, can not reflect the kind of chemical admixture and the characteristics of solid content so that it differed depending on the admixture types. In this study, effect of cement concrete quality was investigated by solid changes which can be used chemical admixtures acceptance criteria. As a result of an evaluation of a change in the quality of concrete due to solid content, since Ligno-sulfonate based (LG) had a low water reducing ratio, the range of the change in solid content was great while Naphthalene sulfonated based (PNS) and Poly-carboxylate based (PC) High Range Water-reducing Admixtures (HRWR) had a high water reducing ratio, the permitted limit of the difference in solid content currently used as the acceptance criterion should be readjusted. As a result, it is found that the acceptable range must be managed within 10% and 5% when the solid contents less than 25% and more than 25%, respectively.
