KOCC pulp was fractionated by air froth flotation and the resultant accept was further treated with kneading. The study on the effect of this combination process revealed that the flotation and the successive kneading were found to be effective in improving strength and drainage properties as well optical cleanliness of testliner based on 100% KOCC.

Jehovah`s Witnesses who require cardiac operations represent a challenge to surgeon because of the patients` refusal to accept blood transfusion, We report a 6 year period, ending May, 1991 with a consecutive series of 25 Jehovah`s witnesses. Patients ranged in age from 11 months to 61 years. All operations were performed during cardiopulmonary bypass with bloodless priming, No patient received any blood or blood products during hospitalization. Perioperative mortality was 2 paients[8%]. We conclude that if we performed the cardiac surgery with careful operative technique and various blood conserving procedures, we can do the bloodless open heart surgery with relatively safety.

In this paper, we study Bayesian estimation for the finite population proportion in binary data under selection bias. We use a Bayesian nonignorable selection model to accommodate the selection mechanism. We compare four possible estimators of the finite population proportions based on data analysis as well as Monte Carlo simulation. It turns out that nonignorable selection model might be useful for weekly biased samples.

The requirement to reuse a design knowledge have been enlarged with the automation of a design system. A design knowledge gives logical and technical meanings to design data of a problem area. The representation of the knowledge is distributed and developed independently. For this reason, we need a general methodology with a semantic interoperability of design knowledge. In this paper, we accept previous requirements by using semantic query system with ontology repository.

Point pattern matching schemes for finger print recognition do not guarantee robust matching performance for finger print images of poor quality. We present a finger print recognition scheme, where transformation parameter of matched ridge pairs are estimated by Hough transform and the matching hypothesis is verified by a new measure of the matching degree using selective directional information. Proposed method may exhibit extremely low FAR(False Accept Ratio) while maintaining low reject ratio even for the images of poor quality because of the robustness to the variation of minutia points.

The Assumptions used in this paper are willing to accept the rel life considerations, which are thestochasic supply, the discounted selling price and the discounted purchasing cost for the over-supply etc.

This paper mainly propose the new passive vibration control device, named BRV(the bridge reduced vibration), for reducing excessive traffic-induced vibration of bridges and for measuring performance of BRV numerical example was simulated. The purpose of BRV is mainly on reducing vertical acceleration and displacement of bridge. In BRV we can control the stiffness and damping coefficient to accept the performance we want. The result of simulation showed that the vertical acceleration and displacement was effectively diminished. It would be concluded that BRV can be used to improve the serviceability of bridge and fatigue life etc.

This study reveals that rail reform which separates infrastructure from train operation requires more safety activities to train operator than before. To meet these requirements the train operator, KNR, should build up more expertness, accept accidents investigation by the third party, establish and operate safety knowledge management system, and manage a forum which facilitates the communication between the parties concerned.

Automatic recognition of seal imprint has been required in the oriental countries. In this paper, a hierarchical approach for seal imprint verification is presented. Global features are used for seal imprint description in the first step. In the second step, conventional and several proposed local features are used to detect useful informations such as size, distribution and relative position of stroke length from seal imprint. In the last step, seal imprints are classified into one of three categories 'accept', 'ambiguous' and reject', based on the hierarchical classification. Experimental results show good performance on classification and recognition.
