Mathematical Model of Shock Absorber for Performance Prediction of Automobile

  • Automotive shock absorber may not be regarded as only one(simple) damping machine because it is composed of many components, and shows non-linear damping characteristics. No matter how advanced form of shock absorber is developed, the oil shock absorber can not be neglected. because their structures are based on the oil shock absorber. Therefore it is essential to accurately analyze the dynamic characteristics of oil shock absorber. It stands mainly roi damper valve tuning which nowadays is still exhaustively done by means of ride work. In this study, damping mechanism and dynamic characteristics for oil shock absorber of twin tube type are analyzed, based on the mathematical model considering internal flow and pressure. For the reliability of numerical prediction. the database is constructed within the limit of adequate reliability. Finally, the programmed system that gives out necessary specification by inputting damping specification and tolerance is to be constructed.

  • A new design methodology is presented for the multi-degree-of-freedom vibration absorber for an elastically suspended rigid body with planes of symmetry in general motion. Unlike the common single degree-of-freedom vibration absorber, the presented methodology makes use of both linear and rotational properties of the absorber. It is suggested that an absorber is designed separately for the in-plane and out-of-plane vibration modes and thereby combined the two cases for a six-degree-of-freedom absorber. The nine possible design methods are suggested for the six-degree-of-freedom absorber when an elastically suspended rigid body has one, two, or three planes of symmetry.

  • Shock absorber has a great influence on the performance of the vehicle(ride comfort, manipulation, noise, vibration, turning, stability). Therefore, in this study we consider theoretically about general damper, variable damping oil damper, the control of vehicle Characteristics for the suspension, and undesirable phenomenon. And we measured the vibration/noise characteristics of shock absorber for the real car experimentation, strain change, and noise characteristics of shock absorber using experimental equipment. The study of domestic company and research institute on the vehicle shock absorber is active, but that of basis is not. So we think that they should be accomplished actively. Therefore, this paper will develop theoretical system on the vibration/noise characteristics of shock absorber by theoretical consideration and experimental result analysis of dynamic characteristics of shock absorber that were accomplished in this study. Then we will use it as the optimistic design data for shock absorber development.

  • This paper is the analysis of thermal and fluid in solar concentration absorber with various tilt angle and opening ratio of absorber entrance. The purpose of this study is to develop optimum solar concentration absorber, and the parameters for the study are the opening ratio of absorber entrance and the tilt angle. The aspect ratio of absorber was fixed at 0.64, and opening ratio was changed from 0.1 to 1.0. The finite volume method with SIMPLE computational algorithm are used and analyzed the heat transfer in absorber inside walls.

  • In order to construct an Anechoic Chamber satisfying international standards for EMI testing, it has been recognized that the absorption characteristics of the EM wave absorber must be higher than 20 dB over the frequency band from 30 MHz to 18 GHz. In this paper, an EM wave absorber with super wide-band frequency characteristics was proposed and designed in order to satisfy the above requirements by using the Equivalent Material Constant Method(EMCM) and Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD). The proposed absorber is to attach a pyramidal absorber onto a hemisphere-type absorber on a cutting cone-shaped ferrite. As a result, the proposed absorber has absorption characteristics higher than 20 dB over the frequency band from 30 MHz to more than 20 GHz.

  • A mathematical model for the prediction of carbon-dioxide absorption rate during the transient state of rotary type absorber is developed. The rotary type absorber operates using a fast rotating porous structure and clean water. The model for the transient state rotary type absorbers is based on the steady state model of packed tower absorber. The paper manipulates the operating data of an arbitrary quasi-steady state condition of rotary type absorber for the determination of the coefficients involved in the model developed. The prediction accuracy is evaluated from the measured data of rotary type absorber operated under fast transient state. The measured data include the mole fraction of carbon dioxide in mixed gas and the pressure of absorber. The relative error in carbon dioxide prediction is estimated to be 20% at maximum. The model is successfully applied for the prediction of the behavior of a closed cycle diesel engine.

  • An experimental study has been performed on heat and mass transfer in a falling film absorber with a strong lithium bromide solution in small-sized household absorption chiller/heater. Components were concentrically arranged in a cylindrical form. from the center, low temperature generator, absorber and evaporator. This arrangement of helical-typed heat exchangers allows to make the machine much more compact than conventional one. Experimental measurements were conducted with a helical absorber and the obtained data were compared with data in the literatures. The comparison revealed that the helical absorber tube provides a similar performance to existing tube bundle absorber in heat and mass transfer. As a result, the heat and mass transfer characteristics of helical type absorber showed the possibility of the reduction in size and weight of small] capacity absorption chiller/heater.

  • Generally, A Dynamic Absorber by using Active viscous Damping is highlighted for effective suspension system, such as improved ride comfort and handling in the market. Lately, this system based on the Sky-Hook damper theory is introduced by the name of "Active Dynamic Absorber" to us. This system has an excellent performance in contrast to Passive. Adaptive Dynamic Absorber, besides having low cost components of system, low energy consumption. light weight of system.   • The performance of shock absorber is directly related to the car behavior and performance, both for handling and comfort. Most of compact car are assembled the passive shock absorber for cost effect but some of compact driver want better performance of shock absorber than standard parts. Therefore, they want the semi-active suspension control system instead of standard damper system. But they only can change the mechanical damping control shock absorber at A/S market. The mechanical damping control shack absorber can not vary the damping force in driving condition so they do not satisfy the mechanical damping control shock absorber system. In this study, electrically damping force controlled shock absorber system is developed based on the mechanical damping force control damper system. This system can vary damping force by switch on dashboard in driving condition. And, this system can satisfy the requirement of tuning market. Therefore, it is expected the system to show the engineering capability of korean damper company and to increase export market share to oversea damper market.

A Study on Seismic Performance Improvement of Nuclear Piping System through Dynamic Absorber (동흡진기를 사용한 원전 배관계 내진성능 상향에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, the dynamic absorber and the damper are applied to improve the seismic performance of the piping system, and their quantitative effects on the piping system performance are examined. For this purpose, the response performances of piping system applied with the dynamic absorber/damper are compared with those of the original piping system. Firstly, the frequency response analyses of the piping system with the presence or the absence of dynamic absorber/damper are performed and these results are compared. It has been shown that the maximum acceleration response per the frequency of the piping system is considerably reduced by installing the dynamic absorber and the damper. Secondly, the seismic responses of the piping systems with and without dynamic absorber/damper are compared. As a result of the numerical analyses, it is confirmed that key responses are reduced by 17%-63% due to the installation of the dynamic absorber and damper. Finally, as a result of the seismic performance evaluation, it is confirmed that the HCLPF (High Confidence of Low Probability of Failure) seismic performances are increased by 1.22 to 2.70 times with respect to the failure modes with an aid of the dynamic absorber and damper.
