  • A System Identification method to develop parametric models linking free surface elevation and wave pressure is presented and two models are built allowing for either wave pressure or free surface elevation simulation. Linear, time invariant model structures with static nonlinearities are assumed and solutions are sought in a form of autoregressive model with extra input (ARX). An arbitrary chosen free-surface elevation and wave pressure dataset is used for estimation of the models, which are subsequently verified against datasets with similar pressure gauge depth but different free-surface elevation spectra due to different meteorological conditions. It is shown that free-surface simulation using System Identification methods can perform better than traditional linear transfer function derived from linear wave theory (LTF), while wave pressure simulation quality using presented methods is generally similar to that obtained with corrected LTF.

  • In case of ARX based block cipher algorithms with masking countermeasures, there is a need for a method to convert between Boolean masking and arithmetic masking. However, to apply masking countermeasures to ARX based algorithms is less efficient compared to masked AES with single masking method because converting between Boolean and arithmetic masking has high computation time. This paper shows performance results on 32-bit platform implementations of LEA with various masking conversion countermeasures against first order side channel attacks. In the implementation point of view, this paper presents computation time comparison between actual measurement value and theoretical one. This paper also confirms that the masked implementations of LEA are secure against first order side channel attacks by using a T-test.

  • This paper describes a modelling method for SCR(selective catalystic reduction) system in refuse incineration plant. We consider the SCR system as a single input and single output system. For modelling the SCR system, an auto regressive exogeneous(ARX) modelling method is used. In this case, we should design the white noise input for modelling and put it on the system as an input$(NH_3)$, and take an outlet NOx as an output. From these two relations, we design the ARX model with 45 second delay time and transform to a discrete system with sampling time of 0.5 second. Using the obtained SCR model, we verify that the outlet NOx is deeply related with stoker`s moving in boiler of refuse incineration plant.

  • System identification is regarded as the most basic technique for structural health monitoring to evaluate structural integrity. Although many system identification techniques extracting mode information (e.g., mode frequency and mode shape) have been proposed so far, it is also desired to identify physical parameters (e.g., stiffness and damping). As for high-rise buildings subjected to long-period ground motions, system identification for evaluating only the shear stiffness based on a shear model does not seem to be an appropriate solution to the system identification problem due to the influence of overall bending response. In this paper, a system identification algorithm using a shear-bending model developed in the previous paper is revised to identify both shear and bending stiffnesses. In this algorithm, an ARX (Auto-Regressive eXogenous) model corresponding to the transfer function for interstory accelerations is applied for identifying physical parameters. For the experimental verification of the proposed system identification framework, vibration tests for a 3-story steel mini-structure are conducted. The test structure is specifically designed to measure horizontal accelerations including both shear and bending responses. In order to obtain reliable results, system identification theories for two different inputs are investigated; (a) base input motion by a modal shaker, (b) unknown forced input on the top floor.

  • This paper describes the model identification and the discrete-time sliding mode control of electro-hydraulic servo systems which are composed of servo valves, double-rod cylinder and load mass. The controlled plant is identified as a 3th-order discrete-time ARMAX model obtained from the prediction error algorithm, where a nominal model and modeling errors are zuantitatively constructed. The discrete sliding mode controller for 3th-order ARMAX model is designed in discrete-time domain, where all states are observed from Kalman filter. The discrete sliding mode controller has better tracking performance than that obtained from continuous-time sliding mode controller, in experiment.

  • A novel approach based on WaveARX neural network observer is proposed far the fault detect of a class of nonlinear systems which consist of known linear part and unknown nonlinear part. A linear observer is first designed, then a nonlinear compensation term in the nonlinear observer is estimated by using a deconvolution method. The WaveARX network is used to model the obtained compensation term. At last, the residual fur fault detection is generated based on the analysis of the upper bound approximate error. Simulation results have shown the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.

  • This paper describes a precise temperature control method for refrigerating and air conditioning systems. The control technique is based on the optimal servo control design method and the control algorithm is implemented on a personal computer. To control the precise temperature, two actuators such as an inverter for the compressor speed control and a stepping motor for regulating the expansion valve are used. The superheat and evaporator temperatures are chosen as the system output. So a multivariable system which has two inputs and two outputs to be controlled. The complicative model is identified by using an ARX(Auto Regressive eXogenous) model and the controller is designed by using the Matlab software.

  • In this paper, an adaptive control algorithm using system identification is proposed for an aircraft fault tolerant control system. A discrete state-space system is reformulated to be the ARX model which has the advantage in handing variable structure systems. Discrete model reference adaptive control is used to make the output of fault system follow the output of reference model. To validate the performance of the proposed control scheme, numerical simulations are performed for the high performance aircraft with control surface damage.

  • This paper identifies a linear combustion model of Refuse Incineration Plant(RIP) which characterizes its combustion dynamics, where the proposed model has thirteen-inputs and one-output. The structure of the RIP model is given as an ARX model which obtained from the theoretical analysis. And then, some unknown model parameters are decided from experimental input-output data sets, using system identification algorithm based on Instrumental Variables(IV) method. In result, it is shown that the proposed model well approximates the input-output combustion characteristics riven by experimental data sets.

  • Suppose that { $X_{i}$ } is a stationary AR(1) process and { $Y_{j}$ } is an ARX process with { $X_{i}$ } as exogeneous variables. Let $Y_{j}$ $^{*}$ be the stochastic process which is the sum of $Y_{j}$ and a nonstochastic trend. In this paper we consider the problem of estimating the conditional probability that $Y_{{n+1}}$$^{*}$ is bigger than $X_{{n+1}}$, given $X_{1}$, $Y_{1}$$^{*}$,..., $X_{n}$ , $Y_{n}$ $^{*}$. As an estimator for the tolerance probability, an Mann-Whitney statistic based on least squares residuars is suggested. It is shown that the deviations between the estimator and true probability are stochatically bounded with $n^{{-1}$2}/ order. The result may be applied to the stress-strength reliability theory when the stress and strength variables violate the classical iid assumption.umption.n.
