용량제약이 있는 다경로 오리엔티어링 문제의 해법에 관한 연구 (A Heuristic Algorithm for Multi-path Orienteering Problem with Capacity Constraint)

  • This study deals with a type of vehicle routing problem faced by manager of some department stores during peak sales periods. The problem is to find a set of traveling paths of vehicles that leave a department store and arrive at a destination specified for each vehicle after visiting customers without violating time and capacity constraints. The mathematical model is formulated with the objective of maximizing the sum of the rewards collected by each vehicle. Since the problem is known to be NP-hard, a heuristic algorithm is developed to find the solution. The performance of the algorithm is compared with the optimum solutions obtained from CPLEX for small size problems and a priority-based Genetic Algorithm for large size problems.

Generation of Effective Cutting Conditions for Machining Safety in a Manufacturing Industry

  • As part of an effort to systematize the operation planning for cutting processes, the neural network method has been applied to model the process of selecting cutting conditions and subsequently to arrive at effective and safe cutting conditions through learning during training of the model. New cutting conditions that are more effective and safer for the given circumstance are obtained. The proposed algorithm deletes the old information previously learned, and then makes the network make at improvement by learning. As a result, the new algorithm provides useful cutting conditions for safer manufacturing environments. A variety of simulation cases illustrate the performance of the proposed methodology. The simulation results are provided and discussed.

  • A superconducting current generator, or a superconducting rectifier(SCR) is used as a current source to energize a superconducting magnets in SMES, MRI. We selected a full-wave SCR among various SCR models and analyzed its operational characteristics by computer simulation. In process of pumping the current, the improvement of performance is dependent on how much bigger the open resistance of the switch is in comparison to load coil impedance when one of two switches become active. Faster transfer can he seen in resistive commutation mode by shortening the time elapsed for the resistance to arrive at certain level from zero state. Although recovery time for the switch has no direct effect on current pumping, optimal switch design is needed to increasing operational frequency.

  • Cheap, low quality food products that are unhealthy are prevailing among children. These low quality products are stirring up the urge to purchase among children and so it is pointed out as a problem. In order to arrive at a solution for the indication of negligence on the side of manufacturing, processing, circulation, and marketing management, a survey asking about interests and preferences on insanitary food products was held during May 2, 2005 to June 30. The subjects were 540 students and 510 parents form 5 elementary schools located at Gwangjin Gu, Seoul including Ja-yang elementary school, etc. This study aims at arranging measures against insanitary food products and contribution to maintenance of children's health.

  • We have performed a series of tests on 3rd, and 4th graders to estimate their understandings of some mathematical concepts. We found some noticeable differences between 3rd and 4th graders on fractional concepts, logical classifications. But for spatial, sense age didn't help much. Lower graders need to work with concrete shapes to improve their spatial concepts. For the fractional concepts, they also need to deal with various problems before they move on to fractional operations. In general feed-back is important and the curriculum needs to be reconstructed to help this matter. We haven't found any significant age deceleration fur children to arrive at the abstract operating stage compared to Piagetian research.

  • Additive manufacturing is converting a digitally designed object into a tangible three dimensional solid using an additive process where materials are applied in successive layers with no or very limited material waste. It can be distinguished form traditional manufacturing which begins with a fixed amount of raw material and removes excess to arrive at the final product. Generally there are five stages to the additive manufacturing supply chain, namely materials, systems, software, application design and production. In this paper, recent market trends and technology about additive manufacturing based on supply chain are analyzed and reviewed.

The Chemical Kinetics for the Reaction of O(³P) with Ethylene

  • The kinetics of the reaction between O(3P) and C2H4 was investigated by measuring time-dependent concentrations of OH resulting from the reaction by using the LIF detection. Oxygen atoms were generated by titrating microwave discharged N2/He with NO to the chemiluminescent end point. The operating pressures in the flow reactor ranged from 5 to 15 torr and the mixtures consisted of He/O(3/P)/C2H4 in the approximate ratios from 100/1/0.1 to 100/1/1. The controlled residence time prior to the detection were estimated to be 0.8-17 ms at the reactor pressure of 7 torr. Experimentally determined profiles both in shape and magnitude were compared with the computed OH density for a specified set of experimental parameters, allowing us to arrive at a complete mechanism for the reaction of O(3P) with ethylene.

A CFD study on the Supersonic Flow through a Dual Bell Nozzle

  • Dual bell nozzle is one of the most promising choices among the altitude adaptation nozzles. This facilitates having a forced, steady and symmetrical separation at lower altitudes and a controlled flow separation at the wall inflection point which prevents the generation of dangerous side loads. In order to ensure the attached flow in the second bell, a clear understanding of the flow transition is required. Hence the motivation of our study is to arrive at an optimum profile for the second bell, which allows a sudden and controlled transition. In this work, we designed the first bell using the conventional MoC and the second bell using an inverse MoC, imposing a pressure gradient constraint. A CFD analysis is also carried out. It is found that the separation point is near the inflection point within one fourth of the extension length or it is near the exit.

Non-tubular bonded joint under torsion: Theory and numerical validation

  • The paper analyzes the problem of torsion in an adhesive non-tubular bonded single-lap joint. The joint considered consists of two thin rectangular section beams bonded together along a side surface. Assuming the materials involved to be governed by linear elastic laws, equilibrium and compatibility equations were used to arrive at an integro-differential relation whose solution makes it possible to determine torsional moment section by section in the bonded joint between the two beams. This is then used to determine the predominant stress and strain field at the beam-adhesive interface (stress field along the direction perpendicular to the interface plane, equivalent to the applied torsional moment and the corresponding strain field) and the joint's elastic strain (absolute and relative rotations of the bonded beam cross sections). All the relations presented were obtained in closed form. Results obtained theoretically are compared with those given by a three dimensional finite element numerical model. Theoretical and numerical analysis agree satisfactorily.

Arrival direction effects of travelling waves on nonlinear seismic response of arch dams

  • The aim of this study is to investigate arrival direction effects of travelling waves on non-linear seismic response of arch dams. It is evident that the seismic waves may reach on the dam site from any direction. Therefore, this study considers the seismic waves arrive to the dam site with different angles, ${\theta}=0^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $75^{\circ}$, and $90^{\circ}$ for non-linear analysis of arch dam-water-foundation interaction system. The N-S, E-W and vertical component of the Erzincan earthquake, on March 13, 1992, is used as the ground motion. Dam-water-foundation interaction is defined by Lagrangian approach in which a step-by-step integration technique is employed. The stress-strain behavior of the dam concrete is idealized using three-dimensional Drucker-Prager model based on associated flow rule assumption. The program NONSAP is employed in response calculations. The time-history of crest displacements and stresses of the dam are presented. The results obtained from non-linear analyses are compared with that of linear analyses.
