Etching Characteristics of $SrBi_2Ta_2O_9$ Thin Film with adding $Cl_2$ into $CF_4/Ar$ plasma ($CF_4/Ar$ 플라즈마 내 $Cl_2$첨가에 의한 $SrBi_2Ta_2O_9$ 박막의 식각 특성)

  • $SrBi_2Ta_2O_9$ thin films were etched at high-density $Cl_2/CF_4/Ar$ in inductively coupled plasma system. The chemical reactions on the etched surface were studied with x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and secondary ion mass spectrometry. The etching of SBT thin films in $Cl_2/CF_4/Ar$ were chemically assisted reactive ion etching. The maximum etch rate was 1060 Am /min in $Cl_2$(20)/CF_4(20)/Ar(80). The small addition of $Cl_2$ into $CF_4$(20)/Ar(80) plasma will decrease the fluorine radicals and the increase CI radical. The Inhibitory Effect on Androgen Receptor-Dependent Prostate Cancer Cell Growth by Anti-Histone Acetyltransferase Activity from Terminalia chebula Retz. Fruit Methanol Extract (가자(Terminalia chebula Retz.) 열매 메탄올 추출물의 Histone Acetyltransferase 활성 저해에 따른 항전립선암 효과)

  • The inhibitory effect of histone acetyltransferase from methanol extract of Terminalia chebula Retz. fruit (TCME) was investigated in prostate cancer cell. TCME significantly inhibited histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity by over 50% at 100 ${\mu}g/mL$ concentration. TCME treatment repressed androgen receptor (AR) mediated transcription, mRNA level of AR target genes, prostate specific antigen (PSA) and NKX-3.1, as well as AR acetylation. Finally, the prostate cancer cell viability was dramatically reduced by TCME treatment at 0~100 ${\mu}g/mL$ concentration. These results indicated that TCME, as a potent HAT inhibitor, could suppress prostate cancer cell growth by AR mediated transcription regulation.

Effects of Astragali Radix (AR) on Chronic Renal Injury in Rats (황기가 흰쥐의 만성 신손상에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective : This study was designed to investigate the possibility of AR for chronic renal injury. Methods : The author first investigated the expression levels of DNA by inducing of chronic renal injury. Then, the author investigated the effects of AR on chronic renal injury induced by combination treatment with Adriamycin and cisplatin in terms of changes in body weights and renal tissues, urine volume, BUN and creatinine levels, creatinine clearance and histopathological changes in renal tissues. Total expression levels of 546 genes were elevated or lowered by induction of chronic renal injury. Genes of which whose expression levels were elevated by induction of chronic renal injury were related to the PPAR signaling pathway and fatty acid mechanism, etc. Genes of which expression levels were lowered by induction of chronic renal injury were related to the neuroactive ligand-receptor signaling pathway. Results : Oral administration of AR restored renal mass which was reduced by induction of chronic renal injury. AR also restored creatinine clearance and lowered serum BUN level. In histopathological observation, the AR group has a tendency to prevent tissue damages as shown in the chronic renal injury group. Conclusions : AR can be used to treat patients with chronic renal injury although further study will be needed to elucidate the exact mechanisms in the efficacy of AR on chronic renal injury.

Dependence of the Structural, Electrical, and Optical Properties of Al-doped ZnO Films for Transparent Conductors on the Process Atmosphere in Magnetron Sputtering (마그네트런 스퍼터링법으로 증착한 투명전극용 Al도핑된 ZnO의 공정 분위기에 따른 구조적, 전기적, 광학적 특성비교)

  • Effects of the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio in the sputtering process on the crystallinity, surface roughness, carrier concentration, carrier mobility, and optical properties of Al-doped ZnO thin films deposited on sapphire (001) substrates by RF magnetron sputtering were investigated. XRD spectra showed a preferred orientation along the c-axis and a minimum FWHM of the (002) XRD intensity peak for the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio of 0.5. The (101)peak also appeared and the degree of preferred orientation decreased as the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio increased from 0.5 to 1.0. AFM analysis results showed that the surface roughness was lowest at the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio of 0.5 and tended to increase owing to the increase of the grain size as the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio increased further. According to the Hall measurement results the carrier concentration and carrier mobility of the fan decreased and thus the resistivity increased as the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio increased. The transmittance of the ZnO:Al film deposited on the glass substrate was characteristic of a standing wave. The transmittance increased as the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio in-RF magnetron sputtering increased up to 0.5. Considering the effects of the $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio on the surface roughness, electrical resistivity and transmittance properties of the ZnO:Al film the optimum $O_2/Ar$ flow ratio was 0.5 in the RF magnetron sputter deposition of the ZnO:Al film.

  • Existing proposals on route optimization for nested Network Mobility(NEMO) have a problem that it is difficult to optimize a route promptly in an environment where a MR moves frequently. Also, they have L3 handoff latency as well as route optimization latency until an optimized route is formed. In this paper, we propose a L3 handoff scheme that supports fast route optimization for nested NEMO without any additional optimization procedure. To achieve this, our proposed scheme is designed to include a procedure that an AR acquires address informations of a MR. After receiving binding update message from the MR, the AR performs the binding update procedure with the MR's HA on behalf of the MR. Packets are delivered to the AR only passing by the MR's HA after a bi-directional tunnel is formed between the AR and the HA. The result of our performance evaluation has shown that the proposed scheme could provide excellent performance compared with the RRH and the ONEMO.

The Study on Geology and Volcanism in Jeju Island (II): Petrochemistry and $^{40}Ar/^{39}Ar$ Absolute Ages of the Volcanic Rocks in Gapado-Marado, Jeju Island (제주도의 지질과 화산활동에 관한 연구 (II): 가파도와 마라도 화산암류의 암석화학 및 $^{40}Ar/^{39}Ar$ 절대연대)

  • We report petrologic characteristics including $^{40}Ar-^{39}Ar$ absolute ages of the subsurface lavas recovered from borehole cores in two islets, Marado and Gapado, off the southwestern coast of Jeju in southernmost Korea and discuss on the volcanism in the region. The lavas in Gapado are apparently divided into one unit with bright colored, aphanitic texture and sheet jointed, and another unit with dark colored and massive. The outcrops often show differentially weathered pattern due to textural difference. While, the lavas in Marado have vesicular and glomerporphyric texture, even though each lava flow unit in Marado has slight unique texture with variation of vesicularity and phenocrysts. The chemical composition of rock core samples from Gapa borehole and Mara borehole shows that the lavas from Gapado and Marado are classified into basaltic trachyandesite($SiO_2$ 52.6-53.6 wt%, $Na_2O+K_2O$ 7.3-7.5 wt%) and tholeiitic andesite($SiO_2$ 51.7-52.8 wt%, $Na_2O+K_2O$ 3.6-4.1 wt%), respectively. The measured $^{40}Ar-^{39}Ar$ plateau ages range from $824{\pm}32\;Ka$(MSL -69 m) to $758{\pm}\;Ka$(MSL 19 m) for core samples of Gapa borehole and $259{\pm}168\;Ka$(MSL -26 m) for a core sample of Mara borehole, respectively. The absolute age of Gapado basaltic trachyandesite is well correlated with that of Sanbangsan trachyte(Won et al., 1986). Meanwhile, the age of a sample in Marado has $259{\pm}168\;Ka$(MSL -26 m) with poor plateau age formation and high error range. We report the data in caution but the rock composition and absolute age of Marado tholeiitic andesite are relatively correlated with those of lava units from Duksu and Sangmo-2 boreholes, indicating the volcanism during 260-150 Ka. On the basis of interpretation of occurrences of exposed and subsurface volcanic rocks of the study area, stratigraphic relationship with adjacent borehole cores and the bathymetry chart of surrounding area, it indicates that the lavas in Gapado were formed around 800 Ka during relatively early stage of volcanic activity in Jeju Island. Meanwhile, Marado may have originated around 260-150 Ka during relatively young stage of volcanism in Jeju Island. It is inferred that the volcanisms have originated in land and these islets were individual ancient volcanoes. The apparent topography has been re-shaped by tidal erosion due to transgression.

  • An Fe-25Cr steel was oxidized in Ar at 973K with or without external stesses of 30~35Mpa. A 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick Cr$_2$O$_3$scales was formed during pre-treatment in Ar. Cracking on the oxides scales commenced at the alloy grain boundary by the end of second creep stage, arrayed almost perpendicular to the direction of the tensile directions. On the contrary, a scale formed in $N_2$-0.1%SO$_2$shows poor adherence on the metal substrate. In this case, the strength of materials is much lower than in Ar

Influence of top AZO electrode deposited in hydrogen ambient on the efficiency of Si based solar cell

  • Al doped ZnO films deposited on glass substrate using RF magnetron sputtering in Ar and $Ar+H_2$ gas ambient at $100^{\circ}C$. The films deposited in $Ar+H_2$ were hydrogen-annealed at the temperature of $150\sim300^{\circ}C$ for 1hr. The lowest resistivity of $4.25\times10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ was obtained for the AZO film deposited in $Ar+H_2$ after hydrogen annealing at $300^{\circ}C$ for 1hr. The average transmittance is above 85% in the range of 400-1000 nm for all films. The absorption efficiency of solar cell was improved by using the optimized AZO films as a top electrode.

  • Damages on Si substrate induced by Ar ion implantation and it annealing behavior during rapid thermal annealing were investigated by the cross-sectional TEM (transmissin electron microscopy), RB(Rutherfordbackscattering) spectra an dthermal wave (TW) modulation reflectance methods. Continuous amorphous layer extending to the surface were generated by Ar ion implantation for higher doses than 1 $\times$1015cm-2. The recrystallization of the amorphous layer prodeeded as the annealing temperature increased . However the amorphous /crystal interfacial undulations caused the micro twins and damage clusters. Damage clusters generated by lower doses than 1 $\times$1015 cm-2 disappeared slowly as the annealing temperature increased, but even at 110$0^{\circ}C$ a few damage clusters still remained.

  • Energy Distribution Function in pure $CH_4$, $CF_4$ and mixtures of $CF_4$ and Ar, have been analyzed over a range of the reduced electric field strength between 0.1 and 350[Td] by the two-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation (BEq.) method and the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). The results of the Boltzmann equation and the Monte Carlo simulation have been compared with the data presented by several workers. The deduced transport coefficients for electrons agree reasonably well with the experimental and simulation data obtained by Nakamura and Hayashi. The energy distribution function of electrons in $CF_4-Ar$ mixtures shows the Maxwellian distribution for energy. That is, $f(\varepsilon)$ has the symmetrical shape whose axis of symmetry is a most probably energy. The measured results and the calculated results have been compared each other.
