  • The concept of AOQL in designing Dodge's continuous sampling plans is modified to include probabilistic consideration reflecting the prior knowledge about the process average fraction defectives, and a new design criterion called AOQL, which eliminates some of the drawbacks of the AOQL criterion is proposed. AOQL, approach provides more economical sampling plans in many cases, and can be used even when only limited amount of prior information is available.

  • Continuous sampling plans CSP-1(i,f)'s with which AOQL is guaranteed, can be applied to the cases in need of effective sampling without stopping the process or dividing batches during production. But the plans that can guarantee the same AOQL value are too many. Therefore we have to select one plan among them. There may be a lot of ways to choose it. This paper connects with various sampling costs, the concept to try to detect the shift of process average under fractional inspection in CSP-1,to find a minimum cost sampling plan among several CSP-1 sampling plan alternatives (i, f)'s with the same AOQL value.

  • In this study, a traditional concept of sampling inspection plan for the quality assurance system is extended to a consideration of economic aspects in total production system by representing and analyzing the effects between proceeding / succeeding production process including inspection. This approach recognizes that the decision to be made at one manufacturing process (or assembly process) determine not only the cost and the average outgoing quality level of that process but also the input parameters of the cost and the incoming quality to the succeeding process. By analyzing the effects of the average incoming and outgoing quality, manufacturing / assembly quality level and sampling inspection plan on the production system, mathematical models and solution technique to minimize the total production cost for a single product manufacturing system with specified average outgoing quality limit(AOQL) are suggested.

  • Many producers put sampling inspection policy into the way of their convenience. Examples of the convenience are irregular lot size and too small sample size. Because they don't use a standard sampling inspection policy, they can not guarantee the quality level of their products. In this study, we developed a user-centered design program which can calculate the AOQL of their products to their buyers in the case of irregular lot size and too small sample size. Also this program propose a linear inspection cost by Hald's model.

  • A quality inspection procedure interchangeably using the performance and surrogate variables is proposed. At the start of the inspection, the continuous performance variable is measured for all items. As soon as iconsecutive items are found to be conforming, the continuous surrogate variable is measured instead of the performance variable. If an item is rejected, the inspection based on the performance variable is resumed. It is assumed that the performance variable and the surrogate variable are jointly normally distributed with known means and standard deviations. The average outgoing quality (AOQ) expression is derived, and the methods of finding the inspection procedure with a specified average outgoing quality limit (AOQL) are presented.

  • A method of selecting parameters of Dodge-type continuous camping plans is proposed ; a sampling plan is designed so that its AFI curve passes through two designated points. AOQL contour lines are also drawn which can be used as a reference in choosing these points.

And the equation for AOQ is simplified due to computational complexities. Numerical example is used to show the effect of AOQ according to inspection location, reliability of equipment in an FMS, and the effect of difference of routing probability is compared after finding the AOQL of each machine center.

  • This paper provides equations for computing the AOQ of an unreliable random FMS. The FMS is described using an open central server model of GI/G/S Queues. The equation for AOQ is simplified due to computational complexities. A Numerical example is used to show the effect of AOQ according to inspection location, reliability of equipment in an FMS. The effect of difference in routing probability is compared after finding the AOQL of each machine center.

  • Various linear cost models have been proposed that can be used to determine a sampling plan by attributes. This paper is concerned with this sampling cost model when the probability that the number of nonconforming item is smaller than the break-even quality level is known. In addition to this situation, a constraint by AOQL is considered. Under these conditions, optimal sampling plan which minimize the average cost per lot is suggested.

As soon as i consecutive items are found to be free of defects, the screening variable is measured instead of the performance variable. If an item is rejected, the inspection based on the performance variable is resumed. All nonconforming items found in the inspection are either reworked or replaced with conforming items. It is assumed that the performance variable is dichotomous, and the screening variable given the performance variable is normally distributed with known mean and variance. The average outgoing quality (AOQ) expression is derived, and the methods of finding the inspection procedure with a specified average outgoing quality limit (AOQL) are presented.
