One of the most serious problems faced by billions of people today is the availability of fresh water. According to statistics, 15% of the world's total output of dye products is discharged into the environment as dye wastewater, which seriously pollutes groundwater resources. For the treatment of chemically and biologically contaminated water the advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) shows the promising action. The main advantage with AOPs is the ability to degrade the organic pollutants to $CO_2$ and $H_2O$. For this degradation process the AOPs generation of powerful and non-selective radicals that may oxidize majority of the organic pollutants present in the water body. To generate the various reactive chemical species such as radicals (${\bullet}OH$, ${\bullet}H$, ${\bullet}O$, ${\bullet}HO_2$) and molecular species ($H_2O_2$, $H_2$, $O_2$) in large amount in water, we have used the atmospheric pressure plasma. Among the reactive and non-reactive species, the hydroxyl radical (${\bullet}OH$) plays important role due to its higher oxidation potential (E0: 2.8 V). Therefore, in this work we have checked the degradation of various dyes such as methyl orange, methylene blue and congo red using different type of atmospheric pressure plasma sources (Indirect jet and direct jet). To check the degradation we have used the UV-visible spectroscopy, HPLC and LC-MS spectroscopy. Further, to estimate role of ${\bullet}OH$ on the degradation of dyes we have studied the molecular dynamic simulation.

Flammable materials used in semiconductor supply facilities are manufactured at high temperatures and high pressures, and as the semiconductor industry becomes more sophisticated and larger, the amount of materials used is rapidly increasing. Recently, fires and explosions occurred during the handling of acetic acid, which is a raw material for making products in the semiconductor material manufacturing process. Overall problems such as lack of air inflow prevention for fire and explosion prevention were identified. Therefore, in this study, in order to accurately identify the cause of the accident and prevent fire and explosion that may occur in the process of handling large amounts of flammable liquids, opinions from various perspectives, such as construction of facilities such as hoppers, installation of AOPS components, and change in workers' perceptions would like to present.
The number of abnormal operation procedures (AOPs) for mitigating a plant abnormal status amounts to about one hundreds for the most of 1000MWe optimized power plant (OPR1000) and it is expected that the number of AOPs would be increased to cope with an abnormal status occurred newly. However, it is not well organized for operators to select a proper AOP from alarms occurred in main control room (MCR) during a plant abnormal status. It may be a burden to operators since the selection of AOP to respond an abnormal status is authorized by operators. When multiple alarms occur in MCR, it would take more time to respond them than a single alarm. To reduce the efforts, various MCR operation support systems have been developed. The purpose of this study was to develop a multi-alarm pattern card to select an appropriate AOP effectively when multiple alarms occurs in a single upper layout (UL) of MCR. It can be applied for an operation support tool as well as an education tool.

In this study AOPs of $O_3/UV$ radiation, $O_3/Mg(OH)_2/UV$ radiation and $O_3/MgO/UV$ radiation system for phenol treatment in aqueous solution was performed in a laboratory scale circulating batch reacter. Flow rate of ozone 1.0 L/min, ozone concentrations $150{\pm}10mg/L$ was maintained constantly at the above-mentioned oxidation processes. During the oxidation processes the $COD_{Cr}$ and TOC was measured in the composition. The pseudo first-order rate constants of the processes was $5.12{\times}10^{-5}$, $1.19{\times}10^{-4}$ and $1.79{\times}10^{-4}sec^{-1}$, and the activation energy was 3.03, 1.79 and $2.32kcal{\cdot}mol^{-1}$ at $20^{\circ}C$, respectively. It was found that both $Mg(OH)_2$ and MgO had remarkable accelerations on degradation of phenol and removal of COD in water. On this basis, $O_3/MgO/UV$ system is an effective and feasible routes for catalytic ozonation of phenol in water.

Ozone/GAC and ozone-GAC processes were introduced for treatment of humic acid, which is representative refractory organic compound. The treatment efficiencies of humic acid in each process were analyzed in pH variation, DOC removal, and $UV_{254}$ decrease. $UV_{254}$ decrease in all processes was comparatively high with efficiency over 92%. $UV_{254}$ decrease in ozone alone process was 85%. DOC removal in Ozone-GAC process was the highest with 75%. Removal by Ozone/GAC, Ozone alone processes were 71% and 33% respectively.
Micropollutants are often discharged to surface waters through untreated wastewater from sewage treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants. The presence of micropollutants in surface waters is a serious concern because surface water is usually provided to water treatment plants (WTP) to produce drinking water. Many micropollutants can withstand conventional WTP systems and stay in tap water. In particular, pharmaceuticals and endocrine disruptors are examples of micropollutants that are detected at the drinking water, ppb, or even ppb level. A variety of techniques and processes, especially advanced oxidation processes, have been applied to remove micropollutants from water to control drinking water contamination. This paper reviews recent researches on the occurrence and removal of micropollutants in the aquatic environments and during water treatment processes.
Humic substances is accounted for for the largest proportion in natural organic matter(NOM) and NOM is widely distributed in varying concentration in all aquatic and soil. They can affect water quality adversely in several ways by contributing undesirable color, complexing with metal and yielding metal concentrations exceeding normal solubility. Ozonation is one of the efficient treatments for degradation of humic substances which cause some problems in water treatment. Especially, the combination of ozone and granular activated carbon was applied to degradation humic acid in aquatic system. The aim of this work to test the available of acid-treated granular activated carbon as catalyst in the ozonation of humic acid.
Ozone alone and catalytic ozone processes were introduced for treatment of humic acid, which is representative refractory organic compound. The treatment efficiencies of humic acid in each process were analyzed in pH variation, DOC removal, and $UV_{254}$ decrease. Mn loaded GAC catalyst was prepared by loading potassium permanganate onto the granular activated carbon surface. BCM-GAC and BCM-Silica gel catalyst were prepared by BCM. $UV_{254}$ decrease in all processes was comparatively high with efficiency over 87%. DOC removal in ozone/GAC process was the highest with 78%, and removal rates for other processes followed the order ozone/BCM-GAC(62%) > ozone/BCM-silica gel(45%) > ozone/silica gel(43%) > ozone/Mn Loaded GAC(42%) > ozone alone(37%).
