  • 22.9 kV CV power cable is very important factor of underground distribution power line. Cyclic aging for 14days is performed to remove a large amount of the volatiles found in freshly manufactured cable. In this paper, we examined AC breakdown characteristics of CV power cable before and after cyclic aging for 14days. As the result, even if there were some exceptions, the AC breakdown voltage before aging was lower than that after aging, but most of the results were that the AC breakdown voltage after aging was lower than that before aging.

  • Quick aging of catalysts has done with IAE(Institute for advanced engineering) AGING MODE suggested by IAE. To estimate the effects of number of aging cycle, temperature and $H_2O$, characteristics of surfaces, mechanical properties and weibull modulus were estimated. Also, the conversion efficiency of aged catalysts was evaluated with model gas bench test. The area of surface and pore volume were decreased according to the number of aging cycle. The precious metal which is well dispersed in fresh state was sintered and agglomerated with aging. The mechanical of deactivation and sintering of catalysts are discussed on the basis of mechanical tests. The conversion efficiency was decreased with the repeats of aging. Especially, the existence of $H_2O$ in supply gas had a main role in catalyst deactivation withy high temperature.

CuAINi 형상기억합금의 시효처리에 따른 상변태 거동 (Phase Transformation Behavior on Aging Treatment in CuAINi Shape Memory Alloy)

  • This research was performed to investigate the transformation behavior and shape memory effect of Cu-13.5Al-4.5Ni(wt%) alloy with various aging temperature and time. The results obtained in this study are as follows: Transformation temperature was very increased when aging temperature is at $250^{\circ}C$. The variation of transformation temperature in first reverse transformation cycle and second was very significant, but there was little difference in case of 2nd and 3rd. Transformation temperature at various aging temperature was increased with increasing of aging temperature and time. Microvickers hardness was increased with increasing of aging temperature and time. It was found that ${\alpha}$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phase were created by aging of long time at high temperature.

  • This research aims to study the changes In gastrointestinal function attributed to aging In human. The thresholds for recognition and detection of flavors became elevated and salivary gland acinar cells decreased in the old age. But most esophageal function remained relatively Intact. Although gastric emptying time has been slowed with aging, the total intestinal transit time did not differ. Atropic gastritis due to H. pylori in old man decreased secretion of acid and Intrinsic factor and absorbability of calcium and iron. Pancreatic secretion is droned in older persons. Prevalence of gallstones rised with age. Liver size and portal blood flow decreased significantly with age. Mucosal surface area has been reported to be slightly diminished in the aging man. Glucose transporters decreased and Insulin tolerance Increased. Absorption of aromatic amino acid is diminished with age. Dietary protein In that aging human increased fecal nitrogen excretion. Vitamin A tolerance increased. Vitamin D receptor concentration decreased and resistance to 1,25-(OH)2D3 action increased. Permeability of aging small Intestine Increased. Zinc balance dirt not differ Copper absorption appeared not to be significantly affected by age. Neurotensin secretion decreased thus slowed colonic peristaltic movements and Intestinal mucosal growth.

  • In order to assess the long-tenn reliability of polymer insulators for distribution power systems, we have developed the accelerated aging test method which can simulate the operation conditions. In this study, 3000 hours aging test for 4 kinds of polymer insulators has been completed by the developed accelerated aging test. After 3000 hours aging test, visual inspection and electrical tests were carried for identifying a change of characteristics. Some specimens showed the surface erosion and the manufacturing defect. In the electrical tests, the wet flashover voltage was significant1y decreased by the accelerated aging test. In comparison with the field-aged polymer insulators, it can be concluded that the developed test method can evaluate the long-tenn reliability within short time and screen the manufacturing defect.

  • This study describes the aging behavior of soils and its mechanism, which have been reported in the literatures mainly by Mitchell(1986) and Schmertmann(1991). It could be known that aging of soils has both positive and negative effects on mechanical properties of soils. In order to show aging effects on dam behavior, a parametric study was carried out based considering the presence of a weak area within clay core zone of the fill dam. From the comparison of results obtained from numerical analysis and filed investigation, age-softening phenomena occurred within core zone during about 30 years after its completion.

SIRT1: roles in aging and cancer

  • Aging and cancer both occur as a result of accumulated cellular damage, and both are related to the regulation of specific genes in the damage response. Recent research has unveiled connections between the mechanisms of aging and cancer, but how to prevent the development of cancer and increase longevity remain unknown. SIRT1 (the mammalian Sir2), which has $NAD^+$-dependent class III histone deacetylase activity, may be a key gene linking the modulation of cancer and aging. SIRT1 has broad biological functions in growth regulation, stress response, tumorigenesis, endocrine signaling, and extended lifespan. Here, we focus on the current knowledge regarding the role of SIRT1 in aging and cancer, and discuss the implications of SIRT1 as a therapeutic target for the optimal balance between anti-aging and anti-cancer activities.

Degradation of Epoxy Coating due to Aging Acceleration Effects

  • This paper is to investigate feasibility on quantitative aging state of epoxy coating on concrete wall in containment structure under operation of nuclear power plants. For evaluating the physical characteristics of the epoxy coating, adhesion strengths of two kinds of degraded epoxy coating systems on both steel surfaces and concrete surfaces were measured via accelerated aging. Comparatively impedance data taken by ultrasonic test were also taken to relate with adhesion data. After aging, in case of concrete, from half of specimens, aging of epoxy coating was developed. As for steel, on $4^{th}$ inspection day, adhesion force was failed. To improve reliability on quality degradation of epoxy, relationship between adhesion and impedance was analyzed. By tracing to co-respond to these data, it was possible to Fig. out physical state of as-built epoxy coating. The possibility to develop new methodology of time - dependent aging state on epoxy coating was found and discussed.

배전용 피뢰기의 가속열화시험 (Accelerating aging test of distribution lightning arresters)

  • This paper presents a new accelerating aging test facility for distribution lightning arresters. Aging parameters of lightning arrester are moisture ingress, electrical stress and surge absorption and so on. In this system, we applied 13.2kV to 6 samples and controled temperature and humidity of chamber and measured leakage currents of the all samples. Also we developed accelerating aging cycle which consists of -35$^{\circ}C$∼90$^{\circ}C$ temperature and 40%∼90% humidity. Through the aging test we found out the leakage current of aged sample increases rapidly according to the temperature rising. Hereafter we can determine the replacement guide of leakage current for field operating arresters and condition assessment of aged samples through this aging test.

  • This paper provides the results of accelerated aging test of 18kV ZnO lightning arresters to investigate the leakage current characteristics. It was impossible to establish the replacement criterion for field operating lightning arrester because conventional aging test was only focused on the aging of ZnO elements. In general, it is possible to replace the aged arresters before the failure in the field using the leakage current measurement because it must be increased by the aging. But we can not use the method because we don't know the characteristics of the installed lightning arresters. Therefore in this paper we applied operating voltage and accelerating cycle which consists of temperature and humidity to the arresters. Then we measured the variation of total and resistive leakage current and found out the characteristics of the acted lightning arresters.
