  • A complex n-dimensional Kaehlerian manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvature c is called a comples space form, which is denoted by $M_n(c)$. A complete and simply connected complex space form consists of a complex projective space $P_nC$, a complex Euclidean space $C^n$ or a complex hyperbolic space $H_nC$, according as c > 0, c = 0 or c < 0. The induced almost contact metric structure of a real hypersurface M of $M_n(c)$ is denoted by $(\phi, \zeta, \eta, g)$.

  • A vertebral arte [VA] injury presents a difficult problem in atlantoaxial fixation. Recent technical reports described posterior C2 fixation using bilateral, crossing C2 laminar screws. The translaminar screw technique has the advantages of producing little risk of VA injury and the unconstrained screw placement. In addition, biomechanical studies have demonstrated the potential of the translaminar screw technique to provide a firmer construct that is equivalent to methods currently used. We report the successful treatment of C1-2 instability with a left-side high-riding VA. Because of the potential risk of VA injury, we performed a posterior C1-2 fixation with a combination of pedicle screws and a laminar screw in C2. We first placed bilateral C1 lateral mass screws and a right-side C2 pedicle screw. However, placement of the left- side C2 pedicle screw was technically difficult due to a narrow isthmus and pedicle. A laminar screw was inserted instead and authors believe that this posterior C1-C2 fixation with a combination of pedicle screws and a laminar screw in C2 can be a useful alternative technique for the treatment of C1-C2 instability in the presence of a unilateral high-riding VA.

  • Recently one of the present authors [2] asserted that a real hypersurface of a complex space form M$^{n}$ (c), c.neq.0, is of cyclic parallel if and only if AJ=JA and he showed also a complete and connected cyclic-parallel real hypersurface of M$^{n}$ (c), is congruent to type $A_{1}$, $A_{2}$ or A according as c>0 or c<0. A real hypersurface of a complex space form M$^{n}$ (c) is said to be covariantly cyclic constant if the cyclic sum of covariant derivative of the second fundamental form is constant. The purpose of the present paper is to extend theorem 3 and 4 in [2] when the hypersurfaces are of coveriantly cyclic constant, that is a real hypersurface of a complex space form M$^{n}$ (c), c.neq.0, is of covariantly cyclic constant if an only if AJ=JA, and a complete and connected covariantly cyclic constant real hypersurface of M$^{n}$ (c) is congruent to type $A_{1}$, $A_{2}$ or a according as c>0 or c<0.

  • Thirty-nine strains of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and 5 strains of C. acutatum stored in Korean Agricultural Culture Collection(KACC) were re-identified based on molecular characteristics of ribosomal internal transcribed spacer(ITS) and partial $\beta$-tubulin gene and cultural characteristics on potato dextrose agar(PDA) and Benomyl-added PDA. As the results, 19 strains were identified as C. acutatum with 13 strains of group A2, 5 strains of group A3, and 1 strain of group A4. In addition, 20 strains were identified as C. gloeosporioides with 18 strains of ribosomal DNA group(RG) 4 and 2 strains of RG6. The rest were identified as C. boninense RG5(2 strains), C. coccodes RG2(2 strains), and C. dematium RG12(1 strain). Out of domestic 31 strains, 12 strains were identified as C. acutatum A2, one strain as C. acutatum A3, 14 strains as C. gloeosporioides RG4, 2 strains as C. gloeosporioides RG6, one strains as C. boninense RG5 and one strain as C. dematium RG12. We also discussed taxonomy of C. gloeosporioides and C. acutatum and composition of C. gloeosporioides/C. acutatum isolates from major crops in Korea.

  • As device dimensions approach submicrometer size in ULSI, the demand for interlayer dielectric materials with very low dielectric constant is increased to solve problems of RC delay caused by increase in parasitic resistance and capacitance in multilevel interconnectins. Fluorinated amorphous carbon in one of the promising materials in ULSI for the interlayer dielectric films with low dielectric constant. However, poor thermal stability and adhesion with Si substrates have inhibited its use. Recently, amorphous hydrogenated carbon (a-C:H) film as a buffer layer between the Si substrate and a-C:F has been introduced because it improves the adhesion with Si substrate. In this study, therfore, a-C:F/a-C:H films were deposited on p-type Si(100) by ECRCVD from $C_2F_6, CH_4$and $H_2$gas source and investigated the effect of forward power and composition on the thickness, chemical bonding state, dielectric constant, surface morphology and roughness of a-C:F films as an interlayer dielectric for ULSI. SEM, FT-IR, XPS, C-V meter and AFM were used for determination of each properties. The dielectric constant in the a-C:F/a-C:H films were found to decrease with increasing fluorine content. However, the dielectric constant increased after furnace annealing in $N_2$atomosphere at $400^{\circ}C$ for 1hour due to decreasing of flurorine content. However, the dielectric constant increased after furnace annealing in $N_2$atmosphere at $400^{\circ}C$ for 1hour due to decreasing of fluorine concentration.

  • This study aimed to investigate the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the porcine MC4R gene and validate the effect of the MC4R genotype for marker assisted selection (MAS). Six amplicons were produced to analyze the entire base sequences of the porcine MC4R gene and six SNPs were detected (c.-780C>G, c.-135C>T, c.175C>T-Leu59Leu, c.707A>G-Arg236His, c.892A>G-Asp298Asn, and c.*430A>T). Linkage disequilibrium (LD) of the six SNPs was analyzed by performing haploid analysis. There was a perfect linkage disequilibrium in c.-780C>G, c.-135C>T, c.175C>T-Leu59Leu, c.707A>G-Arg236His, and c.*430A>T. Only the c.892A>G (Asp298Asn) SNP showed a very low LD with an $r^2$ value of 0.028 and the D' value of 0.348. As a result, the two SNPs-c.707A>G (Arg236His) and c.892A>G (Asp298Asn)-were selected to extract the genotype frequencies from the 5 pig breeds by using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) genotype analysis method. The SNP frequency of c.707A>G (Arg236His) indicated the presence of the A (His) allele only in Yorkshire, while the G allele was fixed in the KNP, Landrace, Berkshire, and Duroc. Association analysis was carried out in 484 pigs with the c.707A>G (Arg236His) SNP and the meat quality traits of four different pig cross populations: a significant association was noted in crude fat, sirloin moisture, meat color, and the degree of red and yellow coloration. The frequency of the c.892A>G(Asp298Asn) SNP genotype varied among the breeds; while Duroc showed the highest frequency of the A (Asn) allele, KNP showed the highest frequency of the G (Asp) allele. Association analysis was carried out in 1126 pigs with the c.892A>G (Asp298Asn) SNP and the meat quality traits of four pig populations: a highly significant linkage was noted in the back-fat thickness (P<0.002). It was found that the back-fat thickness was higher in individuals with the AA genotype than in those with the AG or GG genotype. Thus, in this study, we verified that the c.892A>G (Asp298Asn) SNP in the pig MC4R gene has a sufficient effect as a gene marker for MAS in Korean pork industry.

  • Benzyl arylether dendrimers with zinc porphyrin core and terminal vinyl groups have been synthesized and their photophysical properties and the influence of dendritic environments were investigated. Free base porphyrin-cored benzyl arylether dendrimers 1a-1c and 3a-3c, and their zinc derivatives 2a-2c and 4a-4c have been prepared. Absorption spectra are similar for all porphyrin-cored benzyl arylether dendrimers, except that absorption intensity at 280 nm increases in the higher generation of dendrimer. Fluorescence spectra are similar with two bands for all free base porphyrin dendrimers 1a-1c and 3a-3c, although fluorescence intensity ratio of shorter wavelength emission band to longer wavelength band varies with the generation of dendrimer. Emission efficiencies of 1a-1c and 3a-3c are lower than that of TTP. Emission efficiencies of 2a-2c and 4a-4c are higher than that of ZnTTP. Absorption and emission properties of 1a-1c, 2a-2c, 3a-3c, and 4a-4c were affected negligibly with dendritic environments.

  • In this paper, we introduce the concept of split and non-split tree (D, C)- set of a connected graph G and its associated color variable, namely split tree (D, C) number and non-split tree (D, C) number of G. A subset S ⊆ V of vertices in G is said to be a split tree (D, C) set of G if S is a tree (D, C) set and ⟨V - S⟩ is disconnected. The minimum size of the split tree (D, C) set of G is the split tree (D, C) number of G, γχST (G) = min{|S| : S is a split tree (D, C) set}. A subset S ⊆ V of vertices of G is said to be a non-split tree (D, C) set of G if S is a tree (D, C) set and ⟨V - S⟩ is connected and non-split tree (D, C) number of G is γχST (G) = min{|S| : S is a non-split tree (D, C) set of G}. The split and non-split tree (D, C) number of some standard graphs and its compliments are identified.
