We consider a wafer lot transfer/release planning problem from semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities to probing facilities with the objective of minimizing the deviation of workload and total tardiness of customers' orders. Due to the complexity of the considered problem, we propose a two-level hierarchical production planning method for the lot transfer problem between two parallel facilities to obtain an executable production plan and schedule. In the higher level, the solution for the reduced mathematical model with Lagrangian relaxation method can be regarded as a coarse good lot transfer/release plan with daily time bucket, and discrete-event simulation is performed to obtain detailed lot processing schedules at the machines with a priority-rule-based scheduling method and the lot transfer/release plan is evaluated in the lower level. To evaluate the performance of the suggested planning method, we provide computational tests on the problems obtained from a set of real data and additional test scenarios in which the several levels of variations are added in the customers' demands. Results of computational tests showed that the proposed lot transfer/planning architecture generates executable plans within acceptable computational time in the real factories and the total tardiness of orders can be reduced more effectively by using more sophisticated lot transfer methods, such as considering the due date and ready times of lots associated the same order with the mathematical formulation. The proposed method may be implemented for the problem of job assignment in back-end process such as the assignment of chips to be tested from assembly facilities to final test facilities. Also, the proposed method can be improved by considering the sequence dependent setup in the probing facilities.

We provide a set of information on technologies to draw meaningful action plans for the inter- nationalization of National R&D activities. In this study, we employed a modified Delphi method to evaluate level od our technological capabilities and developed countries' as well. We investigated technology acquistion methodologies, technology characteristics and various aspects of international cooperation in terms of technology. Then we analyzed final responses of participants (i.e, the third round results of Delphi method) to see the correlation among various factors in developing tehnologies through international R&D cooperation. The technology classification used in this research was developed by STEPI (Science and Technology Policy Institute). In conclusion, levels of our technologies were investigated to be between the stage of imitating/absorbing advanced technologies and the stage of digesting acquired technologies. Especially, comparing with other technologies, mechanical engineering was evaluated to be almost near the stage of digesting acquired technology (the middle level stage of technology). Out overal technological capabilites were evaluated to be 40~60% of top level countries'.

This case study presents a practical method to reduce resonant vibration of generator-motor set. The generator is driven at 1800rpm by induction integral motor. The vibration is below alarm limits, but the dominant frequency of vibration is sub-synchronous and close to that of bearing fault signal in spite of new bearings. To find an mechanism of abnormal vibration, ODS and Modal analysis is carried out. The measured modal characteristics were compared with those of FE Analysis. The ODS mode at rated speed is consistent with system natural frequency mode that is excited by bearings. To reduce vibration level, the isolation mount at system base is changed with new rubber mount for lower natural frequency.

Purpose: This research is aimed to study the level of the intellectual potential distribution, as well as the correlation between economic growth and key indicators of intellectual potential in each region of Kazakhstan. A review of the conceptual framework shows that there is a large body of research evaluating the level of intellectual potential in different ways based on different factors. Research design, data, and methodology: The research methodology is divided into two groups the integral index method using the normalization of indicators, weighting, and ranking; the method of correlation analysis. By the proposed methodological approaches, were calculated a set of factors affect the distribution of the intellectual potential. Statistics are taken for indicators of development of the intellectual potential for 2011-2020 from the Bureau of National Statistics. Results: Ranking results showed gaps between regions in Kazakhstan by the level of intellectual potential. Correlation analysis results revealed a statistically significant relationship on expenditures on R&D, computer literacy, innovative products, number of PhD students, and cultural and leisure indicators. Conclusions: Based on the obtained results of the intellectual potential level development there were given recommendations for the reproduction and regulation of the intellectual potential in the future.
This study is to examine the validity of assessing basic-level proficiency in physics among incoming engineering freshmen through item analysis and standard setting. For empirical analysis, we examined the physics subject taken by the freshman class of 2021 at K University, considering its significance for engineering students. In this study, we initially performed item analysis utilizing both classical test theory and item response theory. Subsequently, leveraging the item and test information, we employed a modified Angoff method and the Bookmark method for standard setting. Consequently, the difficulty level initially set during item development was found to be higher than the actual performance level exhibited by the students. This study highlights a discernible disparity between the expected university standard and the real proficiency level of incoming freshmen in terms of basic academic ability in physics. Based on these research findings, a comprehensive discussion on the fundamental academic competence of engineering students was conducted, underscoring the necessity for formulating a tailored learning approach leveraging the outcomes from the basic ability test.

A method to discriminate human gallstones by nea. infrared(NIR) spectrometry using a soft independent modeling of class analogy (SIMCA) has been studied. The fifty NIR spectra of gallstones in the wavenumber range from 4500 to 10,000 cm$\^$-1/ were measured. The forty samples were classified to three classes, cholesterol stone, calcium bilirubinate stone and calcium carbonate stone according to the contents of major components in each gallstone. The training set which contained objects of the different known class was constructed using forty NIR spectra and the test set was made with ten different gallstone spectra. The number of important principal components(PCs) to describe the class was determined by cross validation in order to improve the decision criterion of the SIMCA for the training set. The score plots of the class training set whose objects belong to the other classes were inspected. The critical distance of each class was computed using both the Euclidean distance and the Mahalanobis distance at a proper level of significance(${\alpha}$). Two methods were compared with respect to classification and their robustness towards the number of PCs selected to describe different classes.
Purpose : The purpose of this research is to develop the optimized method and process in the reliability-growth target setting, especially for complex and repairable system (or products) such as vehicle and airplane, construction equipment. Method : A reliability-growth test plan specifies a scenario to achieve the planned reliability value (or reliability target). The major elements in test planning are reliability-growth starting time and reliability level at that time, reliability-growth rate and reliability-growth target. All of them except a reliability target can be referred to the previous development data and reference researches. The reliability target level is directly influencing to test period (or time) which is related to test and warranty cost together. There are a few researches about the reliability target setting method and but showing the limitations to consider the views of engineering, business and customer together. There is no research how to handle the target setting process in detail. Result : We develop the optimized method and systematic process in reliability target setting with considering such views. This research also establish the new concept as production capability which means company (or supplier) capability to product its products. Conclusion : In this research result, we apply the new method to a few projects and can set the reasonable test planning. The developing results is showing the good balance between the developing cost and warranty cost at market.

This paper presents a hierarchical fuzzy motion planner for humanoid robots in 3D uneven environments. First, we define both motion primitives and locomotion primitives of humanoid robots. A high-level planner finds a global path from a global navigation map that is generated based on a combination of 2.5 dimensional maps of the workspace. We use a passage map, an obstacle map and a gradient map of obstacles to distinguish obstacles. A mid-level planner creates subgoals that help the robot efficiently cope with various obstacles using only a small set of locomotion primitives that are useful for stable navigation of the robot. We use a local obstacle map to find the subgoals along the global path. A low-level planner searches for an optimal sequence of locomotion primitives between subgoals by using fuzzy motion planning. We verify our approach on a virtual humanoid robot in a simulated environment. Simulation results show a reduction in planning time and the feasibility of the proposed method.
It has been an interesting challenge to find a good classifier for imbalanced data, since it is pervasive but a difficult problem to solve. However, classifiers developed with the assumption of well-balanced class distributions show poor classification performance for the imbalanced data. Among many approaches to the imbalanced data problems, the algorithmic level approach is attractive because it can be applied to the other approaches such as data level or ensemble approaches. Especially, the error back-propagation algorithm using the target node method, which can change the amount of weight-updating with regards to the target node of each class, attains good performances in the imbalanced data problems. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between two optimal outputs of neural network classifier trained with the target node method. Also, the optimal relationship is compared with those of the other error function methods such as mean-squared error and the n-th order extension of cross-entropy error. The analyses are verified through simulations on a thyroid data set.
