  • In vocabulary recognition using HMM(Hidden Markov Model) by model for the observation of a discrete probability distribution indicates the advantages of low computational complexity, but relatively low recognition rate. Improve them with a HMM model is proposed for the optimization of the Bayesian methods. In this paper is posterior distribution and prior distribution in recognition Gaussian mixtures model provides a model to optimize of the Bayesian methods vocabulary recognition. The result of applying the proposed method, the recognition rate of 97.9% in vocabulary recognition, respectively.

  • In vocabulary recognition using HMM(Hidden Markov Model) by model for the observation of a discrete probability distribution indicates the advantages of low computational complexity, but relatively low recognition rate has the disadvantage that require sophisticated smoothing process. Gaussian mixtures in order to improve them with a continuous probability density CHMM (Continuous Hidden Markov Model) model is proposed for the optimization of the library system. In this paper is system configuration thread control in recognition Gaussian mixtures model provides a model to optimize of the CHMM vocabulary recognition. The result of applying the proposed system, the recognition rate of 98.1% in vocabulary recognition, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of multimedia-assisted language learning on vocabulary learning and attention for elementary school students who are ADHD-prone. Among thirty-three students attending a private English academy in Daegu, four students who were prone to develop ADHD were chosen for this study. They were observed in a multimedia-assisted language learning class for four months and they were given a series of tests designed to measure their attention period and vocabulary ability. The results of the study are as follows. First, studying English by using multimedia was effective in improving the attention of those children prone to develop ADHD. Second, studying English through multimedia was effective in improving their vocabulary ability. Based on the findings, some pedagogical suggestions have been made for further study.

  • There has being developed elementary mathematics textbooks currently based on the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. Vocabularies used in mathematics textbooks are mainly determined by the authors to develop textbooks. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adequacy of elementary school mathematics textbooks based on the unit structure and vocabulary, and to provide implications for elementary mathematics textbooks which is currently in development, in accordance with the 2015 revised curriculum. As a result, there were found some problems in the unit structure and vocabulary of elementary mathematics textbooks.

  • Various materials related the names of objects were published in the late Joseon Dynasty. The medicine-related vocabulary contained in these data is important data for examining the practice of medicine at the time. Jaemulbo (Genealogy of talent and things) is a document on the names of things written by Lee Man-young in 1798. Through this study, the medical vocabulary in Jaemulbo was broadly investigated and analyzed and the following claims are made: 1. Jaemulbo provides a wealth of information on the medical terminology used in the 19th century. 2. The selection of medical vocabulary included was made according to the purpose of tools such as cultured books and dictionaries. 3. Jaemulbo is an example of using Jingyuequanshu (Whole book of Jingyue) before 1790. 4. Jaemulbo reflects the experience and knowledge of pharmacology after Donguibogam.

  • The purpose of this study is to summarize PWIM (Picture Words Inductive Model) which is one of learner-centered vocabulary teaching-learning models, and suggest ways to implement them in Korean language education. The pictures that are used in the Korean language education field help visualize the specific shape, color, and texture of the vocabulary that is the learning target; thus, helping beginner learners to recognize the meaning of the sound. Visual material stimulates the intrinsic schema of the learner and not only becomes a 'bridge' connecting the mother tongue and the Korean language, but also reduces difficulty in learning a foreign language because of the ambiguity between meaning and sound in Korean and all languages. PWIM shows commonality with existing learning methods in that it uses visual materials. However, in the past, the teacher-centered learning method has only imitated the teacher because the teacher showed a piece-wise, out-of-life photograph and taught the word. PWIM is a learner-centered learning method that stimulates learners to find vocabulary on their own by presenting visual information reflecting the context. In this paper, PWIM is more suitable for beginner learners who are learning specific concrete vocabulary such as personal identity (mainly objects), residence and environment, daily life, shopping, health, climate, and traffic. The purpose of this study was to develop a method of using PWIM suitable for Korean language learners and teaching procedures. The researchers rearranged the previous research into three steps: brainstorming and word organization, generalization of semantic and morphological rules of extracted words, and application of words. In the case of PWIM, you can go through all three steps at once. Otherwise, it is possible to divide the three steps of PWIM and teach at different times. It is expected that teachers and learners using the PWIM teaching-learning method, which uses realistic visual materials, will enable making an effective class together.

  • Contextual advertising is an important revenue source for major service providers on the Web. Ads classification is one of main tasks in contextual advertising, and it is used to retrieve semantically relevant ads with respect to the content of web pages. However, it is difficult for traditional text classification methods to achieve satisfactory performance in ads classification due to scarce term features in ads. In this paper, we propose a novel ads classification method that handles the lack of term features for classifying ads with short text. The proposed method utilizes a vocabulary expansion technique using semantic associations among terms learned from large-scale search query logs. The evaluation results show that our methodology achieves 4.0% ~ 9.7% improvements in terms of the hierarchical f-measure over the baseline classifiers without vocabulary expansion.

  • This paper aims to analyze English vocabulary of the North Korean textbooks diachronically using the constructed English textbook corpus. The North Korea English textbooks attained from Information Center on North Korea of the Ministry of Unification are divided into before and after Kim Jong-Il era for the year of 1996 in which the curriculum revision has been conducted. They are stored as text files to analyse vocabularies using WordSmith Tools 7.0. The vocabulary size of the revised textbooks increased after the curriculum reorganization, but the number of vocabulary types and vocabulary diversity decreased. After the curriculum revision, it was found that lots of vocabulary related to the establishment of the Kim Jong-Il system appeared as the keyword. It was also found that some vocabularies reflected the economic and social life of North Korea. In addition, through comparison of the 100 high-frequency word list and keywords, it can be concluded that the vocabulary of the English textbooks of North Korea is gradually changing into communicative contents from contents related with written language.

  • In vocabulary recognition systems based on HMM(Hidden Markov Model)s, training process unseen model bring on show a low recognition rate. If recognition vocabulary modify and make an addition then recreated modeling of executed database collected and training sequence on account of bring on additional expenses and take more time. This study suggest efficient context dependent process modeling method using decision tree-based state tying. On study suggest method is reduce recreated of model and it's offered that robustness and accuracy of context dependent acoustic modeling. Also reduce amount of model and offered training process unseen model as concerns context dependent a likely phoneme model has been used unseen model solve the matter. System performance as a result of represent vocabulary dependence recognition rate of 98.01%, vocabulary independence recognition rate of 97.38%.

  • The current study aims to investigate the relationship between working memory capacity, vocabulary size, and listening competence of Korean EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners. 30 English education majors from a university in Korea were recruited. The backward digit span and the operation span tasks were used to measure the participants' working memory capacity, while the Listening Vocabulary Level Test (LVLT) and the Michigan English Test (MET) were employed to measure their vocabulary size and listening proficiency in English, respectively. The correlational analyses revealed that the bigger one's working memory storage was, the better the person processed incoming input. However, no statistically significant correlation was found between working memory capacity, English vocabulary size, and listening proficiency, possibly due to the small sample size and the homogeneous subjects.
