The ship performs heat exchange using seawater to keep main engine and auxiliary machinery at optimum temperature. In heat exchanger, refrigerant located outside of copper tube is cooled by seawater flowing through inside of copper tube. On the other hand, seawater erosion and corrosion nay occasionally cause the corrosion of the copper tube in A/C(Air Conditioner) condenser. This corrosion of copper tube makes seawater and refrigerant mixed, seriously damaging A/C system. In this study, accordingly, the exact ive mechanism of the corrosion on the condenser entailing serious problems occasional is investigated through the electrochemical polarization experiments on the condenser's component materials. According to the experiments, the corrosive procedures on the copper tube was verified by the fact that passive film of the copper tube surface which is destroyed by the pressure of sucked seawater, is damaged by the corrosive ingredients in the seawater.
A microchannel condenser as a part of a R410A residential air-conditioning system was examined experimentally and numerically in this study. The system was operated in separate environmental chambers and its performance was measured in ARI A, B, and C conditions. A numerical model for the microchannel condenser was developed and its results were compared with the experimental results. The model simulated the condenser with the assumption of the uniform air and refrigerant distribution, and with the consideration of the non-uniform air distribution at the face of the condenser and refrigerant distribution in the headers. In order to consider the non-uniform air distribution, air velocity contours were generated from the measured local air velocities at the face of the condenser. The simulation results showed that the effect of the air and refrigerant distribution was not a significant parameter in predicting the capacity of the microchannel condenser which was experimentally examined in this study. The comparison of the calculated and experimental results showed that the condenser capacity could be predicted well for every test condition. However, the prediction of refrigerant pressure drop deviated significantly from the measured values.
Recently, a study on condensers for refrigerators has focused on new model which will cost less and will be more efficient. Some widely used condensers for domestic refrigerators are wire-and-tube type condenser, hot-wall type condenser, and spiral type condenser. Some companies which use the spiral type condenser at the moment try to develop a new tube-and-plate type condenser which will cost less and will be as efficient as the spiral type. As a standard condenser type, tube-and-plate type condenser is used in this study. A two-dimensional numerical model for the tube-and-plate type condenser is proposed, and the flow and heat transfer characteristics for several types of condensers are investigated.

This paper describes the potential advantages in applying evaporative cooling to air-cooled condensers. The cooling characteristics of an air-cooled condenser with its surface fully covered with thin water film are investigated and compared with that of an air-cooled condenser with usual dry surface. By applying the evaporative cooling, the cooling performance of the condenser is shown to improve enormously. When the outdoor air is 35$^{\circ}C$ and 40% in relative humidity, the condensing temperature of the refrigerant is decreased by 2$0^{\circ}C$. Even when the incoming air is fully saturated with water vapor, the evaporation from the wet surface occurs to cause a decrease in the condensing temperature by 1$0^{\circ}C$. The main reason for this improvement is assessed as the addition of an efficient cooling mechanism which is the water evaporation resulting in latent heat absorption.
An experimental study was conducted to investigate an isothermal characteristics of the condenser surface of disk type heat pipe using PF 5060 and FC 40 as working fluids. Desired temperature range at the condenser surface was $90^{\circ}C{\sim}130^{\circ}C$, which was cooled by natural convection. The operating temperature, the height of vapor space, the wall thickness of condenser, and the existence of a wick structure were considered as experimental factors. The temperature difference and the temperature fluctuation at the condenser surface were analysed to describe the performance of the heat pipe.
During this study, number of fan by ambient air temperature that condenser pressure satisfies steam turbine exhaust pressure condition with intervals of $3^{\circ}C$ within the 150 MW thermal power plant site temperature range of $-17.1^{\circ}C$ to $36.7^{\circ}C$ was reviewed. An air cooled condenser changes its operating pressure influenced by cooling air circulation amount by atmospheric temperature and number of fan. For stable power plant operation, these were confirmed to maximize a quantity of air-cooled condenser fans at above or equal from design ambient temperature and to reduce an amount of circulating air to an air cooled condenser by depending on a quantity of fan considering exhaust pressure operation condition of a steam turbine at below design ambient temperature.

Sub-cooled hybrid condenser(SCHC) which have been developed through this study is an appliance of integrating a condenser with a receiver dryer, which were previously separated. It is supposed that the development of sub-cooled hybrid condenser will be able to reduce not only weight, size, production process and cost, but also quite improve in capability, which will be of great use for the technological development and research of an air conditioning system whose importance is higher in a car. Through the present study it was found that the developed SCHC increases in the degree of sub-cooling by 10∼100% compared to conventional condenser. The excessive sub-cool has improved the cooling performance by 10%, and that leads to the reduction in evaporator outlet air temperature $1.5^{\circ}C$. Additionally, it is expected that sub-cooled hybrid condenser weights less by 100g than the previous condensers which has equal super heat.

Thermodynamic analysis of cascade refrigeration systems has attracted considerable research attention. On the other hand, a system evaluation based on thermodynamic analyses of the individual parts, including the evaporator, condenser, intercooler, expansion valve, etc., has received less attention. In this study, performance analysis was conducted on a cascade refrigeration system, which has an individual cooling and refrigeration evaporator, and equips the intercooler and air-cooled condenser in a series in a lower cycle. The thermo-fluid design was then performed on the major components of the system - upper condenser, lower condenser, cooling evaporator, refrigeration evaporator, intercooler, compressor, electronic expansion valve - of 15 kW refrigeration, and 8 kW cooling capacity using R-410A. A series of simulations were conducted on the designed system. The change in outdoor temperature from 26 C to 38 C resulted in the cooling capacity of the lower evaporator remaining approximately the same, whereas it decreased by 9% at the upper evaporator and by 63% at the intercooler. The COP decreased with increasing outdoor temperature. In addition, the COP of the cycle with the intercooler operation was higher that of the cycle without the intercooler operation. Furthermore, the increase in the upper condenser size by two fold increased the upper evaporator by 4%. On the other hand, the lower evaporator capacity remained the same. The COP of the upper cycle increased with increasing upper condenser size, whereas that of the lower cycle remained almost the same. When the size of the lower condenser was increased 2.8 fold, the intercooler capacity increased by 8%, whereas those of upper and the lower evaporator remained approximately the same. Furthermore, the COP of the lower cycle increased with an increase in the lower condenser. On the other hand, the change of the upper condenser was minimal.
The concept of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is simple and various types of OTEC have been proposed and tried. However the location of OTEC is limited because OTEC requires $20^{\circ}C$ of temperature difference as a minimum, so most of OTEC plants were constructed and experimented in tropical oceans. To solve this we proposed the modified OTEC which uses condenser discharged thermal energy of existing fossil or nuclear power plants. We call this system CTEC (Condenser Thermal Energy Conversion) as this system directly uses $32^{\circ}C$ partially saturated steam in condenser instead of $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$ surface sea water as heat source. Increased temperature difference can improve thermal efficiency of Rankine cycle, but CTEC should be located near existing plant condenser and the length of cold water pipe between CTEC and deep cold sea water also increase. So friction loss also increases. Calculated result shows the change of efficiency, pumping power, net power and other parameters of modeled 7.9 MW CTEC at given condition. The calculated efficiency of CTEC is little larger than that of typical OTEC as expected. By proper location and optimization, CTEC could be considered another competitive renewable energy system.
The present study was conducted to elucidate the characteristics of temperature at the inlet and outlet pipes of a refrigerator drain condenser and suggest the method to predict the temperature of the refrigerant at the inlet and outlet pipes of the drain condenser. For this purpose, a built in style refrigerator was installed in a constant temperature chamber to measure temperatures at the inlet and outlet pipes of the drain condenser. From the results of the present analysis, it could be seen that the measured temperatures changed from $37^{\circ}C$ to $46^{\circ}C$ and the actual refrigerant temperatures were higher than the measured temperatures with the difference magnitude of $8^{\circ}C$ to $22^{\circ}C$. The present study suggested that the temperatures of the refrigerator could be calculated with the measured temperatures by introducing curve fitting of the measured temperature. The predicted refrigerant temperatures by the present study had the accuracy within 6% error of the actual refrigerant temperatures.
