Effects of Gas Composition in the Modified Atmosphere Packaging on the Shelf-life of Longissimus dorsi of Korean Native Black Pigs-Duroc Crossbred during Refrigerated Storage

  • This study was conducted to observe the effects of gas composition in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on the shelf-life of Longissimus dorsi of Korean Native Black Pigs-Duroc Crossbred ($KNP{\times}D$) during refrigerated storage. Muscle sample was obtained from the left side of carcass of seven months old of $KNP{\times}D$ barrow. The sample was sliced into 1 cm in thickness, placed on trays (two slices/tray) and filled with different gas composition, i.e. 0:20:80/$O_2:CO_2:N_2$ (MAP1), 30:20:50/$O_2:CO_2:N_2$ (MAP2) and 70:20:10/$O_2:CO_2:N_2$ (MAP3). Other slices of sample were vacuum packed (VP) as a control. All packs were stored at $5{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. At 12 d of storage, pH value of MAP2 and MAP3 were higher (p<0.05) than that of MAP1 and pH value of MAP1 was higher (p<0.05) than that of VP. At 6 d of storage, redness ($a^*$) value of MAP2 and MAP3 were higher (p<0.05) than that of VP and MAP1 and, at 9 and 12 d of storage, redness value of MAP3 was higher (p<0.05) than that of VP, MAP1, and MAP2. At 3, 6, 9, and 12 d of storage, the 2- thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) value of MAP3 was higher than that of MAP2 and TBARS value of MAP2 was higher than that of VP and MAP1. At 3, 6, 9, and 12 d of storage, volatile basic nitrogen values of MAP2 and MAP3 were higher (p<0.05) than those of VP and MAP1. At 3 d of storage, total aerobic plate counts of MAP2 and MAP3 were higher (p<0.05) than those of VP and MAP1 and, at 6 d of storage, total aerobic plate counts of MAP3 was higher (p<0.05) than that of MAP1 and MAP2. However, there was no significant different total aerobic plate count among MAP1, MAP2, and MAP3 at 9 and 12 d of storage. There was no significant different total anaerobic plate count among MAP1, MAP2, and MAP3 during storage. It is concluded that the MAP containing 30:20:50/$O_2:CO_2:N_2$ gas composition (MAP2) might be ideal for better meat quality for $KNP{\times}D$ meat.

  • The X-ray spectra dependence for intensifying screens of medical radiography was investigated through analysis of the absorbed coefficiency($\mu$), absorbed efficiency(${\eta}_{\alpha}$) and absorbed ratio(R). It was found that the absorbed coefficiency was increased in the order of $CaWO_4$$CaWO_4$ screen showed the highest value.

Feasibility of clay-shielding material for low-energy photons (Gamma/X)

  • While considering the photon attenuation coefficient (${\mu}$) and its related parameters for photons shielding, it is necessary to account for its transmitted and reflected photons energy spectra and dose contribution. Monte Carlo simulation was used to study the efficiency of clay ($1.99g\;cm^{-3}$) as a shielding material below 150 keV photon. Am-241 gamma source and an X-ray of 150 kVp were calculated. The calculated value of ${\mu}$ for Am-241 is higher within 5.61% compared to theoretical value for a single-energy photon. The calculated half-value layer (HVL) is 0.9335 cm, which is lower than that of ordinary concrete for X-ray of 150 kVp. A thickness of 2 cm clay was adequate to attenuate 90% and 85% of the incident photons from Am-241 and X-ray of 150 kVp, respectively. The same thickness of 2 cm could shield the gamma source dose rate of Am-241 (1 MBq) down to $0.0528{\mu}Sv/hr$. For X-ray of 150 kVp, photons below 60 keV were significantly decreased with 2 cm clay and a dose rate reduction by ~80%. The contribution of reflected photons and dose from the clay is negligible for both sources.

  • It is a experimental report to investigate optimum exposure technics in angiocardiography. Because of x-ray absorption and rapid voluntary motion in the heart region, it bound that discrimination ability of the exposed film is being decreased in ACG To circumvent these disadvantage it must be necessary to use short time exposure technics and also high capacity equipment in ACG. But in the case of using the low tube voltage to improve contrast on the exposed film, it will be result in a many difficulties in interpretation of the image due to increased contrast in vertebral images. Therefore the ranges 80 kVp to 90 kVp of could be suitable for the purpose of good contrast and an excellent discrimination ability and under this circumstance the optimum grid ratio for ACG was 8:1 to 12:1.

  • The fact is that in addition to an increase in social needs that must be managed systematically unnecessary exposure in the field of medical Recent important that the shield has emerged. However, products that are now in practical use, are not subdivided as compared to various medical radiology. Therefore, in the present study, we tried to present with the help of Monte Carlo simulation the structure of the shielding material that has been optimized. Simulated estimation result, the energy of the mammography for (30 kVp) spectrum, check the shielding rate of 90% or more $30{\mu}mPb$, at 2 mmAl case of shielding material of a single, at design time of 1 mmAl and 0.03 mmPb a double shield structure it is determined that more efficient. Also, check the blocking rate of 90% or more $340{\mu}mPb$, at 30 mmAl energy captured general in (80 kVp) spectra, it is considered that a double shield structure, design 1 mmAl and 0.3 mmPb is useful. These results, be used as basic material for the development of commercialization customized products for dose reduction is expected.

The Study of Radiation Exposure Reduction by Developing Corpus Striatum Phantom (두개골-선조체 팬텀을 이용한 선량 저감화 방안 연구)

  • The study is to produced a brain phantom simulating corpus striatum, which can evaluate the progression of parkinson's disease, to investigate possibility of reducing the brain exposure dose to CT while maintaining optimal image quality during PET-CT examinations. CT scans were performed by varying tube voltage (100, 120 kVp) and tube current (80, 140, 200 mAs) with $^{18}F$ FP-CIT injected into the phantom's hot sphere and background (radioactivity ratio 3:1)(reference condition; 120 kVp, 140 mAs). Estimated effective dose was calculated by using conversion factor according to each condition, and image quality was evaluated by setting SNR and CRChot image evaluation factors. Experimental results showed that the predicted effective dose below the CT imaging reference condition was reduced by at least 10% and by up to 60%, and the predicted effective dose beyond the reference condition was increased by 40%. In addition, there was no significant difference between SNR and CRChot of PET images, and it was confirmed that brain dose decreased with decrease of tube voltage and tube current. At the same time, there was no significant change in the quality of the image in terms of SNR and CRChot despite the change in scan conditions. This fact suggests that the quality of the images acquired under the existing dose conditions can be obtained even at low dose conditions and it is expected that it will be possible to use the brain PET-CT scan as a basic data for the research on reduction of dose and improvement of image quality.

  • Long-bone examination is mainly used for inspection of the lower extremities. Recently, a long length detector (FXRD-1751S, VIEWORKS, Korea) with three digital detectors attached has been developed. High energy X-rays are used because pelvic areas require high image quality. In this case, X-rays are transmitted a lot in thin areas such as an ankle, and it is not suitable for diagnosing an image. Therefore, this study use copper filters made with 3D printers to increase image quality in the Long-bone inspection. A copper filter was manufactured in consideration of the overall thickness of the lower part. The experiment was conducted in anterior-posterior (AP) and lateral (LAT) positions, depending on the presence or absence of the filter. 5x5 pixels of region of interest (ROI) were selected from the pelvis, knee, and ankle areas. X-rays were irradiated under the conditions of 70 kVp and 40 mAs for AP, 80 kVp, and 63 mAs for lat when without filters, 90 kVp and 80 mAs for AP, 90 kVp and 100 mAs for lat when with filters. signal to noise ratio(SNR) ratio and contrast to noise (CNR) values were measured 1106.38, 14.34 before applying the filter and 1189.32, 70.43 after the filter. For the knee area, 650.44, 97.61 before applying the filter, and 1013.17, 444.24 after applying the filter. For the ankle area, 206.65, 23.68 before applying the filter and 993.50, 136.11 after applying the filter. In the Long-bone examination, SNR and CNR were greatly measured when the filter was applied, confirmed the availability of using the copper additional filter.

  • This paper describes a auto focus piezo actuator driver IC for portable digital camera. The 80[V] DC voltage is generated by a DC-DC converter and supplied to power of piezo moving control circuit. The voltage of piezo actuator needs range -20[V] to 80[V] proportional to 1[Vp-p] input control voltages. The dimensions and number of external parts are minimized in order to get a smaller hardware size. IIC(Inter-IC) interface logic is designed for data interface and it makes debugging easy, test for mass productions. The power consumption is around 40[mW] with supply voltage of 3.6[V]. This device has been fabricated in a 0.6[um] double poly, triple metal 100[V] BCD MOS process and whole chip size is 1600*1500 [$um^2$].
