Design of Network Controller for Proportional Flow Control Solenoid Valve (비례유량제어밸브 네트워크 제어기 설계)

  • Proportional control solenoid is a type of modulating valve that can continuously control the valve position with magnetic force of solenoid. Recent microcontroller based digital servocontroller for proportional valve is being developed toward the smart valve with additional features such as enhanced control algorithm for finer process and intelligent on-board diagnosis for maintenance. In this paper, development of servocontroller network control with CAN bus which is free from problems of security and network traffic jam is presented. Design of network control system includes modes of communication between master and slave, assignment of 29bit message identifier and message objects, transaction of communication sequence, etc. Monitoring function and control experiments for remote valve through CAN network prove the extended function of smart valve control system.

  • This study considers the implementation issues of the inter-vehicle communication system for the vehicle platoon experiments via a testbed. The testbed, which consists of three scale vehicles and one RCS(remote control station), is developed as a tool for functions evaluation between simulation studies and full-sized vehicle researches in the previous study. The cooperative communication of the vehicle-to-vehicle or the vehicle-to-roadside plays a key role for keeping the relative spacing of vehicles small in a vehicle platoon. The static platoon control, where the number of vehicles remains constant, is sufficient for the information to be transmitted in the suitably fixed interval, while the dynamic platoon control such as merge or split requires more flexible network architecture for the dynamical coordination of the communication sequence. In this study, the wireless communication device and the reliable protocol of the flexible network architecture are implemented for our testbed, using the low-cost, ISM band transceiver and the 8-bit microcontroller.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a new maximum power point tracking(MPPT) using fuzzy set theory for air conditioning system. Fuzzy algorithm based on linguistic rules describing the operator's control strategy is applied to control step-up chopper for MPPT. Fuzzy algorithm is applied to control boost MPPT converter by temperature compensation effect with 8 bit single chip 8051 microcontroller. In this paper, temperature compensation(Becom Transducer : pf-T type) range is $-40^{\circ}C{\sim}+100^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper demonstrates the possibiity of utilising clamped mode - series resonant converter technology in the high frequency link inverter configuration. Main circuit of the proposed inverter is analyzed through circuit analys and waveform simulation. In control circuit PLL circuit and 8 bit single chip microcontroller is adopted, therefore flexibility and accuracy of control circuit is increased.

  • In this paper, we designed a low power and small-sized, light weighted intelligent ambulatory monitoring system using a flash memory card. The system's hardware specifications are as follows: 2 channels, 8bit/250Hz sampling rate, 20M byte storage capacity, a single-chip microcontroller (68HC11E9). To easily interface with PC based system, FFS(Flash File System) was used. We obtained the QRS detection rate of 99.14 through the evaluation with MIT/BIH database.

  • A maximum power point tracking(MPPT) converter, to enhance the converter efficiency is evaluated within the laboratory. The converter is controlled to track the maximum power point of the input photovoltaic(PV) source by varying the input and output parameter-conditions of irradiation, temperature, etc. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new maximum power point tracking(MPPT) using neural controller. Neural controller are applied to control of MPPT by boosting converter duty ratios compensation effect with 8 bit single chip 8051 microcontroller.

  • An analog signal conditioner using fuzzy logic technique, which has multiple-input and multiple-output terminals, is proposed in this paper. The proposed signal conditioner can be employed to linearly translate the level of signals to a standard voltage signal (1-5V) and convert the form of signals to a standard current signal (4-20mA). The implementation method based on the use of a commercial 8-bit microcontroller, the analog-to-digital (A/D) converters, the digital-to-analog (D/A) converters and the voltage-to-current (V/I) converter. The simulation result and the experimental results are presented, which further confirm the feasibility of this approach.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of an embedded image stabilization control system for a mobile phone with a built-in camera. Image stabilization is a family of techniques for reducing image blur resulting from minute camera shake due to hand-held shooting, thereby allowing the use of shutter speeds slower than values normally required to obtain sharp images. A mechanical image stabilizer mechanism developed for a camera mobile phone is introduced and a digital control system as a part of the image stabilization system is designed and implemented on an 8-bit microcontroller with integer arithmetic in C. This paper focuses primarily on issues that need to be taken into consideration for fixed-point implementation of the digital controller. Several experimental results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the implemented image stabilization control system.

Fast Algorithms for Computing Floating-Point Reciprocal Cube Root Functions

  • In this article the problem of computing floating-point reciprocal cube root functions is considered. Our new algorithms for this task decrease the number of arithmetic operations used for computing $1/{\sqrt[3]{x}}$. A new approach for selection of magic constants is presented in order to minimize the computation time for reciprocal cube roots of arguments with movable decimal point. The underlying theory enables partitioning of the base argument range x∈[1,8) into 3 segments, what in turn increases accuracy of initial function approximation and decreases the number of iterations to one. Three best algorithms were implemented and carefully tested on 32-bit microcontroller with ARM core. Their custom C implementations were favourable compared with the algorithm based on cbrtf(x) function taken from C <math.h> library on three different hardware platforms. As a result, the new fast approximation algorithm for the function $1/{\sqrt[3]{x}}$ was determined that outperforms all other algorithms in terms of computation time and cycle count.

  • This paper describes the proposal, design, and implementation of a novel WDMX controller which can provide versatile light effects with the increased capability of the mobility and the number of universes for LED lights. Both the algorithm for DMX protocol and how to implement the frame based on a 8bit micro-controller are explained. The conversion algorithm between the DMX frame and wireless LAN 802. 11b protocol stack is introduced and implemented. In final, some experiments are made to verily the interoperability of the developed WDMX controller with a commercial product of LED lights. 최대 9,999 staves with 30 refresh rate per second may have capability to show various light effects.
