  • In this paper, we describe the luminescent properties of the phosphors synthesized via sol-gel technique. When the phosphor prepared by sol-gel technique, reaction factors, such as pH condition, $R_w$ and drying temperature affected the luminescent intensity, particle size and morphology of final product. Therefore, we attempt to control these reaction factors in order to improve the luminescent efficiency of phosphors. As a result of our study, when the acid catalyst (HCl) was used, emission intensity was higher than the case of base catalyst $(NH_4OH)$. The product prepared at $R_w=60$ indicated the maximum intensity. As the increase of the $R_w$ value, the particle was agglomerated and emission intensity was decreased. Finally, optimum drying temperature of gel was found to be$ 180^{\circ}C$.

  • 1H NMR spectra of methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, isopropyl-, butyl-, N-methylethyl-, N-methylpropyl-, and N-methylisopropylamine coordinated to the paramagnetic 11-tungstocobalto(II)silicate anion (SiW11Co) in dimethylsulfoxide-d6 or dimethylformamide-d7 are reported. For these complexes the ligand exchange is slow on the NMR time scale and pure 1H NMR signals have been observed at room temperature. No complex is detected in D2O. From the pseudocontact shifts of the CH2 and CH3 groups in ethylamine the energy of the gauche conformers with respect to the anti conformer is estimated. Two diastereotopic protons in the CH2 group of N-methylethylamine have quite different chemical shifts especially at low temperatures (e.g. 48.5 vs. 19.4 ppm at -10℃). This may be attributed mainly to the different positions of the two protons in the most stable (gauche) conformer.

  • The author obtained the oblique lateral trans cranial radiograms from 376 patients (114 of male, and 262 of female) with temporomandibular joint arthrosis. After tracing each film, the author analyzed the dimensional changes of the condylar heads with pain, clicking, mouth opening limitation, and masticatory difficulty respectively, which were the chief complaints of the TMJ arthrosis and compared these data with control group. The results were as follows; 1. There was a great predilection for occurrence of the TMJ arthrosis in female (262 cases) over male (114 cases). But there was no significant difference in ratio between the sexes on each symptom. In male, 60 patients (52.6%) had pain, 28 patients (24.6%) had clicking, 21 patients (18.4%) had mouth opening limitation, and 5 patients (4.4%) had masticatory difficulty. In female, 148 parients (56.5%) had pain, 57 patients (21.8%) had clicking, 47 patients (17.9%) had mouth opening limitation, and 10 patients (3.8%) had masticatory difficulty. 2. Examined controlled group, the author analyzed the dimension of W-W', 0-H, 0-A, 0-B on the right side first, and left side second. In male, the dimension of W-W' was 14.52㎜, 14.13㎜; 0-H was 13.92㎜, 13. 71㎜' 0-A was 8.91㎜, 9.0㎜ and 0-B was 8.67㎜, 8.78㎜. Male with mouth opening limitation show the least (12.70㎜, 13.00㎜) on W-W', but both sexes with pain show the least on 0-H. There was no significant difference between experimental group with Clicking and controlled group on 0-H, 0-A, and 0-B. • Co-0.5C-(15~20)Cr-20Ni-8W-(2~7)Fe alloy bond in diamond-impregnated abrasive tool was synthesized by ball-milling and mechanical alloying process. When the powders were mechanical alloyed for 6h, micro-welding in most metal powders was observed irrespective of addition of stearic acid. Without stearic acid in metal powders, partial-ly coarse powders were obtained, which could be unfaverable to the densification of composite of composite powders. The hot-pressed compacts showed rupture strength of 1100MPa and hardness of about $46H_{RC}$, respectively.

  • A planar waveguide model is presented for calculating dispersion characteristics with the frequency dependent effective dielectric constant in microstrip lines and results are compared by the variation of each parameter. It is compared to use a wide range of relative dielectric constants and the strip $h_{width}$strate height, W/h ratios, 0.9$\leq$W/h$\leq$2. As the result of a computer simulation, the normalized phase velocity using a planar waveguide model for each case is more closely approached to 1/$\sqrt{\epsilon_r}$ as the increasing of the frequency than the other method that has already been presented.

  • 1H NMR spectra of 3,3-dimethylpiperidine (1) at -70 to 30 ℃ exhibit gradual change from slow to rapid exchange between two alternate chair forms. The exchange rate constant was determined as a function of temperature by simulating the line shape of the signal from the two methyl groups using the modified Bloch equations. The resulting free energy of activation is ΔG* = 44.4±1.9 kJ mol-1 at 298 K. The 1H NMR spectrum of a D2O or dimethylsulfoxide-d6 (DMSO-d6) solution containing 1 and [SiW11CoⅡO39]6- exhibits separate signals for the free ligand and the complex, indicating that the ligand exchange is slow on the NMR time scale. In D2O the piperidine ring is frozen as a chair form even at room temperature with the cobalt ion bonded to the axial position of the nitrogen atom. When DMSO-d6 is added to the D2O solution, the NMR spectral change suggests that a rapid exchange occurs between the chair form and another conformer. It is proposed that the conformation of ^b1^b coordinated to [SiW11CoⅡO39]6- in DMSO-d6 is close to a twist form.

  • Hydrothermal reactions of Ni(NO₃)₂· 6H₂O with trans-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene (bipyen), in the presence of a linear 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid (NDCH₂) and a bent 4,4'-oxybis(benzoic acid) (OBCH₂), gave a 2-D coordination polymer [Ni(NDC)(bipyen)(H₂O)] (1) and also a 2-D coordination polymer [Ni(OBC)(bipyen)]· H₂O (2), respectively. A reversible de-coordination and re-coordination of an aqua ligand was observed for polymer 1. Polymer 2 has an undulated 2-D network based on 50-membered rectangular grids, each of which has the dimension of 13.61 × 13.17 Å.

  • Ion-selective poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC) membrane electrodes for the determination of the calcium antagonist verapamil and its pharmaceutical preparations were described. Verapam il-superchrome garnet Y(SGY), lumogallion(LG), acid red 97(AR97), Dragendorff(DD) and Meyer reagent ion pairs were inverstigated as an electroactive compound for membrane electrode. Stable potentiometric response was obtained with azo dye at pH 6.5-4.0 and with DD, and Meyer reagent at pH 6.5-3.0. The best plasticizer was 49w/w% 2-nitrophenyl octyl ether for azo dye, and 65.3w/w% tri(n-butyl) citrate for DD and Meyer reagent. Potentiometric response slopes of optimized membrane electrodes based on SGY, LG, AR97, DD, and Meyer complex for verapamil were 52.49, 54.88, 50.81, 54.13 and 49.31 mV/dec., respectively. Lower limits of linear range were $1.0{\times}10^6M$ for SGY, LG, and AR97, while those for DD and Meyer reagent were $4{\times}10^{-6}M$. Detection limits for all these electrodes were $1{\times}10^{-5}M,\;4{\times}10^{-6}M,\;1.8{\times}10^{-6}M,\;8{\times}10^{-7}M,\;and\;1{\times}10^{-6}M$ with relative standard deviation of 2.56, 3.6, 3.96, 2.56, 3.20%, respectively.
