  • In recent years, owing to the growing user demand for the two-way internet service based on the move global broadband communications, a new type of satellite terminal has developed, known as earth station in motion (ESIM). This service was required by Resolution 158 (WRC-15) to study on the coexistence with the co-primary fixed service (FS) in 27.5-29.5 GHz as a FSS uplink. In this paper, four scenarios was introduced to account for the antenna pointing error and the azimuth for an analysis on the sharing between ESIM and FS. From analysis results, the required separation distance between two systems should be about 32~52 km according to the elevation angles of $20^{\circ}{\sim}40^{\circ}$ using thresholds of 5% and 10% outage probability. Therefore, it is necessary to control the azimuth angle due to a moving terminal as well as the pointing error of ESIM to minimize the required separation distance and to protect the co-primary FS.

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to validate the design criteria of the concrete modular road system, which is a new semi-bridge-type concept road, through a comparison of numerical analysis results and actual loading test results under static axial loads. METHODS : To design the semi-bridge-type modular road, both the bridge design code and the concrete structural design code were adopted. The standard truck load (KL-510) was applied as the major traffic vehicle for the design loading condition. The dimension of the modular slab was designed in consideration of self-weight, axial load, environmental load, and combined loads, with ultimate limit state coefficients. The ANSYS APDL (2010) program was used for case studies of center and edge loading, and the analysis results were compared with the actual mock-up test results. RESULTS : A full-scale mock-up test was successfully conducted. The maximum longitudinal steel strains were measured as about 35 and 83.5 micro-strain (within elastic range) at center and edge loading locations, respectively, under a 100 kN dual-wheel loading condition by accelerating pavement tester. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the results of the comparison between the numerical analysis and the full-scale test, the maximum converted stress range at the edge location is 32~51% of the required standard flexural strength under the two times over-weight loading condition. In the case of edge loading, the maximum converted stresses from the Westergaard equation, the ANSYS APDL analysis, and the mock-up test are 1.95, 1.7, and 2.3 times of that of the center loading case, respectively. The primary reason for this difference is related to the assumption of the boundary conditions of the vertical connection between the slab module and the crossbeam module. Even though more research is required to fully define the boundary conditions, the proposed design criteria for the concrete modular road finally seems to be reasonable.

  • The study is one of fundamental researches for the development of future smart clothing and textile products with blocking properties from electromagnetic waves by analyzing human physical symptoms in using electromagnetic products in such an environments. Among various textiles in the experiment, nano silver has shown the best blocking performance from electromagnetic waves, which decreases depending on the distance. The power spectrum distribution and the incidence of electroencephalogram between blocking materials and aural stimuli has shown that, ${\beta}$, wave appeared to be active in all channels except for $T_4$, whereas all waves appeared with processed materials and especially with nano silver silk(NSS), ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\theta}$, ${\gamma}$ waves appeared active in all regions. As for the brain mapping of ${\alpha}$ wave according to time, there found a strong activity in $P_3$, $P_4$ of the parietal lobe, with all materials on all time regions. With silk nylon metal(SNM) and NSS, it appeared strong in $F_3$, $F_4$ as well. As for ${\beta}$, wave, the activity appeared strong in frontal lobe before 7min. 30sec, where it tends to diminish abruptly in 7min. 30sec. to 13min. 30sec. region. After 13min., it regained gradually. With NSS, it appeared strong in all areas except for the farthest $T_4$. The appearance of ${\nu}$ wave can be deduced as it can affect human body with its toxic property while the silver particles become nano-sized. Therefore, the study conducted with human participants requires a proper particle size of it which would not penetrate cellular tissues and a proper binder and binding treatment for it, to prevent the physical fatigues and the potential diseases. However, it is highly required for back-up researches to verify various aspects in applying nano silver to textile products.

  • A firm seeking to enter a foreign market must make an important strategic decision of which market entry mode to use. Because entry modes involve resource commitments, the initial choice by a firm on a particular entry mode is difficult to change without a considerable loss of time and money. Substantial prior research has been undertaken to explain why firms select a particular entry mode into global markets. However, there exists limited research on this area in the field of foreign apparel brands in Korea, although some research has analyzed influential entry mode factors when Korean textile and clothing companies went overseas. This study reviews prior research on the entry mode choice and analyzes the factors that influence the entry mode choice for 510 foreign clothing brands in Korea. Price range, clothing types, distribution strategy, and cultural distance were considered as influential determinants for different entry mode choices. Crosstabs with a chi-square test and logistic regression are used for analysis. This study shows that high-priced brands and luxury brands are associated with the export orientated entry mode in the Korean market. Brands that pursued the strategy of multiple distribution channels showed a preference for a licensing mode or direct investment over other entry modes, and brands from higher-cultural-distance countries entered the Korean clothing market by licensing mode. The findings of this study are appropriate for the strategic planning of foreign apparel intent on entering the Korean market or for Korean apparel firms planning to enter the global market.

  • Large scale construction disasters such as recent Noryangjin flooding incident and Banghwadaegyo collapse accident are occurring persistently. Thereupon, the role and responsibility of the various construction participants are considered as major element to reduce disaster at the construction site. Construction industry is a process of building construction object by going through planning, designing, constructing, and maintenance controlling in which various bodies of act, from contractor to designer and builders, participate. However, the subject of current safety supervision is focused on the builder, the contract enterprise which directly employs workers, while the safety activity participation of the contractor, who exerts decision-making authority at the highest level, is excluded. Therefore, this study understands the level of awareness and reality on the safety activity of each construction participants from which the improvement plan on the contractor centered safety management system is proposed.
