  • In this paper, we studied the design and fabrication of array antenna at around 1.8 GHz band. To improve of frequency properties of antenna, single feed microstrip patch antenna was simulated by HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). A $1{\times}2$ array antenna of 1.8 GHz for LTE band was designed and fabricated by photolithography on an FR4 substrate (dielectric constant of 4.4 and thickness of 0.8 mm). The fabricated antenna was analyzed by network analyzer. The measured results agree well with the simulations, which confirmed the validity of this study. The fabricated $1{\times}2$ array antenna showed a center frequency, the minimum return loss and impedance were 1.82GHz, -30.5dB, and $49.6{\Omega}$ respectively.

  • In this paper, We proposed a rectangular slot antenna with CPW feeder. Slot antennas fed by CPW are attractive due to the simple fabrication simplicity and ease of integration with active devices. This antenna consists of two parts, inner patch and outer patch to realize wide-band antenna by multi-frequency. Also, We fabricated a proposed rectangular slot antenna, confirm characteristics of multi-frequency by tuning antenna parameters, inner antenna's location and size. The experimental results show that each resonant frequency of a fabricated antenna is measured at almost 1, 9GHz, 2.8GHz, 3, 5GHz, 4, 9GHz. In radiation patterns each resonant frequency, radiation pattern 4-th resonant frequency is the same ad that of TM11 in patch antenna. Therefore, the experimental and theoretical results shows that a proposal rectangular slot antenna have triple resonant frequencies.

  • In this paper, a novel Snowflake-shaped microstrip patch antenna for application in the WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz) band is designed and fabricated. The size of antenna is $21.2{\times}16mm^2$ and substrate is used Taconic-RF30. To obtain sufficient bandwidth in Return loss <-10dB and dual resonance characteristic, the Short-pin is inserted on the patch and the coaxial probe source is used. The measured results of fabricated antenna show 220MHz and 135MHz bandwidth in Return loss <-10dB referenced to the WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz) band. The measured antenna gain is $4.7{\sim}6.9dBi$ in the WLAN(5.2/5.8GHz) band. The experimental 3-dB beam width in I-plane and H-plane are $73.2^{\circ}/82.75^{\circ}$ for 5.1500Hz, $74.56^{\circ}/83.63^{\circ}$ for 5.3500Hz, and $86.24^{\circ}/85.15^{\circ}$ for 5.7850Hz, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose the antenna to appropriate for a UWB communication system, and it meets characteristics for location recognition in predetermined range. Proposed tapered slot antenna was designed through the HFSS simulation tool of Ansys. Inc., it was produced by Taconic TRF-45 based on dielectric constant of 4.5, loss tangent 0.0035, thickness 1.62mm. The tapered slot antenna is analyzed the standing wave ratio and reflection coefficient, radiation pattern in the frequency domain. The impedance bandwidth range of the produced tapered slot antenna is from 3.8 ~ 8.9GHz to 5.1GHz, E-plane and H-plane radiation pattern meet directional antenna characteristics for indoor and outdoor location recognition in predetermined range. The antenna gain is 7.4 dBi(6GHz)in the simulation, the result of measurement demonstrated 7.4 dBi(6 GHz) of antenna maximum gain. Proposed tapered slot antenna meets UWB communication system but simulated and measured results were slightly different.

  • In this paper, we design a Wibro / WiFi dual band microstrip antenna for wireless broadband communication. The proposed antenna is designed to have the characteristics of FR-4 (er = 4.3), size of $40[mm]{\times}40[mm]$, and usable in 2.31[GHz] and 5.8[GHz] bands of Wibro / WiFi. The simulation is performed by CST Microwave Studio 2014 The simulation result shows that the gain is 2.308[dB] at 2.31[GHz] and 2.985[dB] at 5.8[GHz]. S-parameters were also found to be less than -10[dB] (WSWR2: 1) in the desired frequency band, and a small number of parameters and a compact antenna were designed. It is expected that many users will use the mobile communication antenna for accurate and fast communication for smooth wireless broadband communication.

  • In this paper, a 1.485 Gbps video signal transmission system using the carrier frequency of 240 GHz band was designed and simulated. The sub-harmonic mixer based on Schottky barrier diode was simulated in the transmitter and receiver. Both of heterodyne and direct detection receivers were simulated for each performance analysis. The ASK modulation was used in the transmitter and the envelop detection method was used in the receiver. The transmitter simulation results showed that the RF output power was -11.4 dBm($73{\mu}W$), when the IF input power was -3 dBm(0.5 mW) at the LO power of 7 dBm(5 mW) in sub-harmonic mixer, which corresponds to SSB(Single Side Band) conversion loss of 8.4 dB. This value is similar to the conversion loss of 8.0 dB(SSB) of VDI's commercial model WR3.4SHM(220~325 GHz) at 240 GHz. The combined transmitter and receiver simulation results showed that the recovered signal waveforms were in good agreement to the transmitted 1.485 Gbps NRZ signal.

  • This paper reports on the design of a multiband multiple-input and multiple-output(MIMO) antenna for long-term evolution(LTE) vehicular communication and includes an analysis of the throughput field test results that were acquired by mounting the antenna to a vehicle. The antenna used for the field test was designed as a planar structure and included multiple stubs to obtain multiband resonant characteristics operating in the LTE(0.8~0.9 GHz, 1.7~2.2 GHz), Wi-Fi(2.4~2.48 GHz), and wireless access in vehicular environments (WAVE)(5.8~5.9 GHz) frequency bands. For the field test, antenna prototypes were mounted on the dashboard and roof of a vehicle and connected to the experimental LTE modem. The data transfer rate(throughput), signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio(SINR), and reference signal received quality(RSRQ) were measured and analyzed in various real-world radio wave environments. Based on these results, the relationship between the SINR and throughput according to the field intensity is confirmed.

  • In this paper, a compact UWB (Ultra Wideband) BPF(Band-Pass Filter) with dual notched bands is proposed using a hybrid Composited Right-Left Handed (CRLH) and Defected Ground Structure (DGS). To avoid the interferences such as Wireless LAN (Center frequency: 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz), the CRLH is employed to obtain the dual notched bands and the DGS is used to obtain the wide stop-band above the pass-band. The fabricated filter has good performance and has more than 30dB rejection at the center frequency of 2.4 GHz and 5.8GHz. The dual notched bands are easily movable by changing the CRLH parameter. Also the insertion loss is less than 0.4dB in the lower pass-band and 0.7dB in the upper pass-band, and it has small group delay variation less than 0.6ns. The size of the fabricated filter is very compact (17mm*17mm).

  • A 5-GHz band Low Noise Amplifier(LNA) using SOI MOSFET is designed. To improve the noise performance, depletion-type SOI MOSFET is adopted, and it is designed by the two-stage topology consisting of common-source and common-gate stages for low-voltage operation. The fabricated LNA achieved an S11 of less than -10dB, voltage gain of 21dB with a power consumption of 8.3mW at 5.5GHz, and a noise figure of 1.7dB indicated that the depletion-type LNA improved the noise figure by 0.3dB compared with conventional type. These results show the feasibility of a CMOS LNA employing depletion-type SOI MOSFET for low-noise application.
