Modeling of Input Buffered Multistage Interconnection Networks using Small Clock Cycle Scheme (작은 클럭 주기를 이용한 다단 상호연결 네트워크의 성능분석)

  • In packet switching using multistage interconnection networks (MIN's), it is generally assumed that the packet movements successively propagate from the last stage to the first stage in one network cycle. However, Ding and Bhuyan has shown that the network performance can be significantly improved if the packet movements are confined within each pair of adjacent stages using small clock cycles. In this paper, an analytical model for evaluating the performance of input-buffered MlN's employing this network cycle approach is proposed, The effectiveness of the proposed model is confirmed by comparing results from the simulation as well as from Ding and Bhuyan model.

Spatio-Temporal 3D Joint Noise Reduction Filter (시공간 3차원 결합 잡음제거 필터)

  • Noise in image sequences is visually offensive and may mask important image detail. In addition to degradation of visual quality, the noise pattern increases the entropy of the image, and thus hinders effective compression. This paper proposes a spatial and a temporal joint filters to reduce the noise by jointly connecting two adaptive noise reducers with different characteristics, and we also propose an IIR-type 3D noise reduction litter scheme connecting the spatial and the temporal joint filters. The proposed 3D IIR filter not only strongly removes noise in uniform image regions while preserving edges and details but also effectively suppresses temporal flicker caused by noise. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves subjective quality as well as objective quality as compared with the various noise filtering techniques.

  • Variations of dissolved oxygen were studied for two years in two brackish lakes, Etang de Berre and Etang de Vaine related to the north-west Mediteranean Sea. The variations also were studied at the same time in nearby seawater, and in the four main tributaries of Etang de Berre. The distributions of dissolved oxygen values and their spatio-temporal variations were well matched with the characteristics of the water masses in different environments. The concentration of dissolved oxygen and the rate of oxygen saturation in seawater (Carry-le-Rouet) ranged from 5.0 to 6.0 ml.1$\^$-1/, and from 95 to 105%, respectively. The amount of dissolved oxygen in Etang de Berre oscillated between 0.17 and 11.43 ml.1$\^$-1/ with an average of 7.40ml1$\^$-1/.The rate of oxygen saturation oscillated between 2.9 and 168.3%. Annual values of the four tributaries are as follows (ml.1$\^$-1/ and %): Durance:8.68 and 113.6;Arc : 6.87 and 95.3;Touloubre: 6.87 and 91.0;Durancole;6.36 and 96.8 The data for the evolutions of dissolved oxygen in Etang de Berre on the period between 1965 and 1978 are presented. A rather good negative correlation links oxygen with temperatures.

수의학강좌 - 구제역 등 전염병 차단을 위한 소독 및 방역요령

  • 지난 1월 7일 경기도 포천지역에서 구제역발생에 이후 성공적인 차단방역으로 구제역 종식선언을 한지 16일만인 4월 8일 강화도에서 또 다시 2차 발생으로 차단방역에 총력을 기울이고 있던 중, 4월 22일 충북 충주지역에서 구제역발생이 확인됨에 따라 소, 돼지 등 사육농가들과 방역당국은 총체적인 차단방역활동을 기울이고 있다. 이는 국내 축산업계의 막대한 손실뿐만 아니라 관련 산업에 지대한 영향을 미치고 있어, 조속한 시일내에 구제역 확산 차단에 국가 및 지방의 방역당국과 관련 종사들이 불철주야 노력을 기울이지 않으면 아니된다. 따라서 구제역 등 전염병의 발생 차단을 위해서는 무엇보다도 축사 입구, 내외 부 및 이동도로의 철저한 소독과 방역활동이 중요하며, 축산농가들의 방역의식고취가 시급하다 하겠다. 이웃나라인 일본에서도 지난 4월 20일 미야자키현의 화우 번식우 농장에서 구제역이 10년만에 발생되어 확산을 차단하기 위한 방역활동을 펼치고 있다. 또한 마지막으로는 필자가 작년 10월과 금년 1월 하순에 일본 오끼나와현과 미야자키현(주 : 일본 수의사회 주최, 한-일공동산업동물 국제심포지엄, 국내 구제역 발생으로 한국우병학회 회원들은 실제 불참하였으며, 연자만 참석하였음)에 갈 기회가 있었는 바, 일본측에서 요구한 서약서 및 방역대응요령에 대해서의 수칙을 요구한 바가 있어 참고로 번역하여 소개한다.

  • A study of fracture to material is getting interest in nuclear and aerospace industry as a viewpoint of safety. Acoustic emission (AE) is a non-destructive testing and new technology to evaluate safety on structures. In previous research continuously, all tensile tests on the pre-defected coupons were performed using the universal testing machine, which machine crosshead was move at a constant speed of 5mm/min. This study is to evaluate an AE source characterization of SM45C steel by using k-nearest neighbor classifier, k-NNC. For this, we used K-means clustering as an unsupervised learning method for obtained multi -variate AE main data sets, and we applied k-NNC as a supervised learning pattern recognition algorithm for obtained multi-variate AE working data sets. As a result, the criteria of Wilk's $\lambda$, D&B(Rij) & Tou are discussed.

  • In this paper we proposed a new scheme for conditional two dimensional (2-D)moment-based classification of patterns on the basis of Gibbs random fields which are will suited for representing spatial continuity that is the characteristic of the most images. This implementation contains two parts: feature extraction and pattern classification. First of all, we extract feature vector which consists of conditional 2-D moments on the basis of estimated Gibbs parameter. Note that the extracted feature vectors are invariant under translation, rotation, size of patterns the corresponding template pattern. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, classification experiments with training document sets of characters have been carried out on 486 66Mhz PC. Experiments reveal that the proposed scheme has high classification rate over 94%.

An Efficient Error Concealment Method Using Difference Values of Border Pixels (경계 화소의 차분값을 이용한 효과적인 에러 은닉 방법)

  • In this paper, we present a spatial domain error concealment method to recover a lost block in intra-coded frames. The edge directions of the lost block are estimated by the difference values of the border pixels of the accurately received blocks. The lost block is interpolated according to the estimated edge directions. Our algorithm can adaptively recover a lost block according to the estimated edge direction. The distances between pixels are used as weights for interpolation. In spite of the low computational cost, the proposed method outperforms the previous methods in objective and subjective qualities.

  • In this paper, we propose a color enhancement system which is based on the improvement of transition time problem and specific color detection stability. The proposcd system apply the time difference correction step to corrects time difference which is taken place at the transimission process between color signal and color subcarrier signal and to reduce detection errors. And also, we proposed stability method to improve transition time problem and detection efficiency as the control of reference color. The proposed system controls specific color when the mean difference value of detected voltages greater than the value of minimum discriminate voltages of two adjacent color signals. Thus, the color enhancement system improves detection efficiency and controls specific color from the color signal without overlapping of correction range.

  • Color image is formed of combination of three color channels. Therefore its architecture is very complicated and it requires complicated image Processing for effective image segmentation. In this paper. we propose architecture of universalized Color Morphological Pyramids(CMP) which is able to give effective image segmentation. Image Pyramid architecture is a successive Image sequence whose area ratio $2^{\int}({\int}=1,2,....,N)$ after filtering and subsampling of input image. In this technique, noise removed by sequential filtering and resolution is degraded by downsampling using CMP in various color spaces. After that, new level images are constructed that apply formula using distance of neighbor vectors in close level images and segments its image. The feasibility of proposed method is examined by comparing with the results obtained from the existing method.

Text Region Detection using Adaptive Character-Edge Map From Natural Image (자연영상에서 적응적 문자-에지 맵을 이용한 텍스트 영역 검출)

  • This paper proposes an edge-based text region detection algorithm using the adaptive character-edge maps which are independent of the size of characters and the orientation of character string in natural images. First, labeled images are obtained from edge images and in order to search for characters, adaptive character-edge maps by way grammar are applied to labeled images. Next, selected label images are clustered as for distance of its neighbors. And then, text region candidates are obtained. Finally, text region candidates are verified by using the empirical rules and horizontal/vertical projection profiles based on the orientation of text region. As the results of experiments, a text region detection algorithm turned out to be robust in the matter of various character size, orientation, and the complexity of the background.
