The purpose of this study is to identify the sleep/activity patterns of neonates and to provide a baseline data in developing an effective maternal-child nursing intervention strategies. The subjects of this study were 57 normal newborn babies from birth to 4 weeks of age, who visited the Postpartum Care Center and two General Hospitals and One Local clinic in Taejon. The data were collected from October 28th, 1999 to April 28th, 2000. The instrument used in this study was NCASA developed by Barnard and validated by the Academic Society of Parent-Child Health. The data were analyzed with the SPSS PC+ 7.5 for window program using means, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The mean amount of daytime sleep was 7.45 hours, nighttime sleep was 4.27 hours, and the total daily sleep was 11.72 hours. The mean amount of longest sleep period was 4.32 hours. The mean regularity of daytime sleep was 35.55%, the nighttime sleep was 44.82%, and the total daily sleep was 39.02%. The mean frequency of nighttime awakenings was 2.44 times. 2. The mean amount of daytime awake periods was 8.54 hours, the nighttime awake periods was 3.72 hours, and the daily total awake periods was 12.27 hours. The mean amount of the longest awake period was 3.98 hours. 3. The mean frequency of daytime feeding was 5.18 times, the nighttime feeding was 2.50 times, and the total daily feeding was 7.49. The mean of regularity of total daily feeding was 61.34%. 4. According to an analysis of sleep patterns based on newborn's age, there were some statistically significant differences noted in the following factors ; amount of nighttime sleep (F=7.65, p=.002), longest sleep period(F=5.84, P=.006). 5. According to an analysis of activity patterns based on newborn's age, there were some statistically significant differences noted in the following factors ; amount of nighttime activity (F=7.64, P=.002), longest activity period (F=4.34, P=.020), frequency of nighttime feeding(F=3.89, p=.029), frequency of total daily feeding(F=3.76, P=.033), and regularity of daily feeding(F=4.66, P=.016). In conclusion, the newborn baby slept more during the daytime than nighttime and more active during the daytime. And there were some irregular sleep/activity pattern noted during 1 to 2 weeks of newborn baby. The results of this study will contribute to maternal-child health nursing practice and nursing research, and provide an information to parents about what to expect their newborn baby.
Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effects of middle-aged women's social support, self-efficacy, and perceived health status on aging anxiety. Methods: Research subjects were 210 middle-aged women between 40 - 60 years living in G-city. Data were collected from July $21^{st}$ 2014 to August $8^{th}$ using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using t-test, One way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: Aging anxiety showed statistically significant differences in religion (t=2.44, p=.015), satisfaction with married life (F=4.39, p=.014), type of leisure activity (F=8.09, p<.001), and number of friends (F=3.23, p=.024). Aging anxiety showed correlation with social support (r=-.21, p=.003), self-efficacy (r=-.46, p<.001), and perceived health status (r=-.33, p<.001). Factors affecting aging anxiety were self-efficacy (${\beta}=-.33$, p<.001), perceived health status (${\beta}=-.23$, p<.001), leisure activity type (${\beta}=-.16$, p=.010), and religious affiliation (${\beta}=-.17$, p=.038). The predictive power of these variables was 25% (F=18.63, p<.001). Conclusion: Nursing intervention strategies for improving self-efficacy, perceived health status, and leisure activity are required to relieve aging anxiety of middle-aged women.
Purpose. This study was performed to evaluate the effects of a introduction of nursing and bioethics subject on nurse image and nursing professionalism of freshmen nursing students. Methods. Participants were 104 freshmen nursing students. The period of data collection was from March 3 to June 17, 2016. The research was done in a one group pretet-posttest for a quasi-experimental study. The data ware analyzed by frequencies and paired t-test using the SPSS 21.0 program. Results. The results are as followed : There were statistically significant differences among pre and post in the nurse image(t=-6.15, p<.001) and nursing professionalism(t=53.92, p<.001). Conclusions. We strongly recommend using introduction of nursing and bioethics subject to nurse image and nursing professionalism of freshmen nursing students. And, in future study, it is necessary to develop the curriculum and teaching strategies for improving nurse image and nursing professionalism.
Objective: The aims of this study were to explore Turkish women's knowledge, behavior and beliefs related to cervical cancer and screening. Methods: The study was performed in two cities in the East of Turkey between September 2009 and April 2010, with a sampling group of 387 women. Data were collected by means of an interview form with the Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and Pap Smear Test - Turkish Version. Results: Women in the research group were found to have poor knowledge, inadequate health behavior and low/medium level false beliefs regarding cervical cancer screening. There was relation between health beliefs and characteristics of women and particularly education (F = 10.80, p = 0.01). Similarly, it was found that Pap smear barriers were influenced by demographic characteristics and that women with low-level education (p = 0.001), divorced women (p = 0.05), women with low-income(p = 0.05), women who gave their first birth when they were 18 or younger (p = 0.05) and women not applying any contraceptive method at all (p = 0.01) were determined to have negative Pap smear barriers. Conclusions: Primarily the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of women in the target group should be evaluated to increase their participation in cervical cancer screening and to prepare effective education strategies.
Optimal Power dispatch is the short-term decision of the optimal output of a number of power generation facilities, to meet the system demand, with the objective of Power dispatching at the lowest possible cost, subject to transmission lines power loss and operational constraints. The operational constraint includes power balance constraint, generator limit constraint, and emission dispatch constraint and valve point effects. In this paper, Opposition based Differential Evolution Algorithm (ODEA) has been proposed to handle the objective function and the operational constraints simultaneously. Furthermore, the valve point loading effects and transmission lines power loss are also considered for the efficient and effective Power dispatch. The ODEA has unique features such as self tuning of its control parameters, self acceleration and migration for searching. As a result, it requires very minimum executions compared with other searching strategies. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been validated through four standard test cases and compared with previous studies. The proposed method out performs the previous methods.
The purpose of this study was to examine the comparative between depression and stress related to life events among women in the menopausal stage. Menopausal stages were divided into two groups: Pre and post-menopausal stages. The degree of depression and stress related to life events between pre and post menopausal women were compared to each other. Women, aged between 41 and 59 years, answered self-reported questionnaires which included Zung's depression scale and life events scale modified by Lee (1984). Findings were as follows; 1) The mean score of premenopausal women who experienced depression was 39.66, and for post-menopausal women the score was 41.45. There was no significant differences in depression levels between pre and post menopausal group.s (t=-1.55, p=.122). 2) Menopausal women experienced low levels of stress related to life events. There were no significant differences between pre and post menopausal groups(t=.527, p>.05). Both pre and post menopausal groups were highly concerned about education issues of their children and disharmony between couples. 3) There was a significant relationship between depression and stress related to life events among post-menopausal groups (r=.22, p<.01). Based on the findings of this study, the menopausal depression was associated with stress related to life events, especially among post-menopausal women. Feelings of lost fertility and feminine attributies result in menopausal depression, which is significantly correlated with women's negative perception of their life events. Therefore, nursing intervention needs to develop to help reduce the levels of depression and overcome their negative perception of the menopausal experience. Nurses should develop nursing strategies to help menopausal women to have positive perceptions and enhance quality of life by assisting their adaptability to physiological and psychological changes related to menopause.
Purpose: This study aims to categorize the subjective perception of suicide of young social workers in their 20s and 30s, and to explore the factors constituting each type, and used the Q methodology. Research design, Research method: As a research method, the Q population was derived through in-depth interviews and literature research, and the final 23 Q statements were confirmed. Next, 30 social workers in their 20s and 30s were classified by normal distribution on a 7-point scale as a P sample. The collected data were analyzed using the QUANL-PC program. Result: As a result of the analysis, four types were extracted, and there were no affirmative statements commonly cited in all types, and the opposite statement is 'if someone wants to commit suicide, it is the person's job and should not interfere'. Types 4 named suicide as 'unacceptable social problem', 'signal of a request for help, relief of severe pain, and 'impulsive mistake', respectively. Conclusion: Based on this result, the elements constituting the perception of each type were analyzed, and the need for access strategies for each type of suicide prevention education and campaign, and follow-up research were suggested.

Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the mediator effect of social support in the association between stress for college life and depression among nursing students. Methods: The participants of the study were 201 university students in A and C cities. Self-report questionnaires were used to measure the variables. In the data analysis, the SPSSWIN 25.0 program was utilized for descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, Sobel test and multiple regression analysis. Results: Mean scores of stress for college life, depression and social support were 2.56, 4.12 and 0.61, respectively. Stress for college life and depression showed a significant positive correlation (r=.60, p<.001), while depression and social support showed a significant negative correlation (r=-.46, p<.001). Lastly, stress for college life and social support showed a significant negative correlation (r=-.55, p<.001). The analysis of the mediator effect of social support in the association between stress for college life and depression showed that social support had a significant mediator effect. Conclusion: Among nursing students, social support may be a mediator in the association between stress for college life and depression. Therefore, strategies for nursing intervention to improve social support should be developed for nursing students.

This study is a descriptive survey research conducted to confirm the effects of work values and career adaptability on job preparation behavior in Graduation year nursing students. The subjects are 4th grade students who are attending two university nursing departments in city G and N, and data were collected from September to October 2023. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis and controlled regression analysis. The research results are as follows. Intrinsic values (β=-.127, p=.122) had not statistically a significant effect on job preparation behavior. Extrinsic values (β=.168, p<.001) and career adaptability (β=.415, p<.001) had statistically a significant positive effect on job preparation behavior. The variables predicting the job preparation behavior of nursing students were identified in the order of career adaptability and extrinsic values. The study model accounted for 35.5% of job preparation behavior. It suggests that strategies are needed to enhance the extrinsic values and career adaptability in order to promote job preparation behavior in nursing students. However, considering the nature of nursing and the sense of calling of nurses who perform nursing, we should not overlook the fact that the intrinsic values of nursing itself is also an important aspect that nursing students preparing to become future nurses must cultivate.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between professional self-concept and job satisfaction of nurses working in long-term care hospitals and to consider strategies to improve these factors. Methods: Data were collected using structured questionnaires given to 135 nurses working at six long-term care hospitals in C City. The data were analyzed with SPSS 23.0 by descriptive statistics, Cronbach's α, t-test, one-way ANOVA, a Scheffé test, and with Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The average score for professional self-concept was 2.78 points (out of 4 points), and the average score for job satisfaction was 3.11 points (out of 5 points). Significant differences were found for professional self-concept according to age, marriage status, total work experience, number of patients per nurse, and position, while job satisfaction showed significant differences depending on age and the number of patients in the ward. Professional self-concept and job satisfaction showed a significant positive correlation (r=.46, p<.001). Conclusion: In long-term care hospitals, it is necessary to provide education programs about nursing practice, communication, and leadership to enhance the professional self-concept of nurses. With regard to job satisfaction for nurses, it is imperative to improve the work environment of long-term care hospitals.
