Analysis of MIMO Channel Characteristics Considering the Building Density in the Urban Area at the 700 MHz Frequency Band (700 MHz 대역에서 도심 지역 건물 밀집도를 고려한 MIMO 채널 특성 분석)

  • Urban area is a representative environment of wireless channels in the mobile communication, building density has a different distribution depending on the location. Building density has affect to propagation prediction For this reason, building density is expected to affect to the channel characteristics, we need to analyze it. We measured channel characteristics in urban areas of Jeju island by channel sounder and $4{\times}4$ antenna. Channel characteristics considering the building density were derived based on the measured data in the urban area. In this paper, the measurement data is analyzed and channel characteristics are derived through MIMO Channel measurements at 700 MHz considering the building density in the urban area.

  • 본 연구에서는 이동통신 시스팀에서 채널 모델의 시뮬레이션을 수행하는데 사용 가능한 알고리즘을 개발하였으며 이동체 속도에 따라 그 특성을 분석하였다. 이동통신 채널에서는 다중 경로에 의하여 레일리 페이딩 채널이 구성되어 지는데 이의 알고리즘 개발을 위하여 실제 제작 구현이 용이한 위상 변조신호 합성 방법과 shaping 필터를 이용하는 방법을 채택하였다. 개발 알고리즘을 분석한 결과 제시한 두 모델 모두가 채널 시뮬레이션을 위하여 사용가능함을 확인하였으며 특히 레일리 분포 특성에서는 위상변조 신호 합성방식이 이론치와 더욱 유사됨을 알 수 있었다.

  • In the next generation of mobile communication systems, high data rates and high capacity will be possible if multiple antennas are used at new frequencies. This paper presents the correlations between channel parameter path loss (PL), delay spread (DS), angular spread (AS) and K-factor established based on channel measurements. To avoid interference from Korean DTV broadcasting, we measured the channel characteristics in urban/rural/suburban areas on Jeju Island using a channel sounder and $4{\times}4$ antennas. The correlations between channel parameter show that the wireless channel characteristics can be determined and effective communication system design can be produced for use in similar environments.

  • The conventional WF(water-filling)-MIMO systems assumes that the channel state information is perfectly known at receiver. However, since, generally, the perfect channel state information is not available at receiver, channel estimation error should be considered at the system. Therefore, in this paper 4he performance of the conventional WF-MIMO systems is numerically analyzed when channel estimation error is considered. The analysis results show that mean square error of channel estimation up to $10^{-4}$ is tolerable to get the same performance obtained when perfect channel information is available.

  • In mobile communication, the performance of QAM technique is poor under deep fading even though Rayleigh channel characteristics are estimated and compensated. In this paper, we analyze the performance of 3/4 Trellis coded 16QAM in Rayleigh channel where burst errors are randomized by bit reversal block interleaver, and TCM coder is designed by computer search to be adequate for Rayleigh channel. The simulation results show that the interleaver has 2dB gain, the modified Viterbi decoder has 2.5dB, and diversity has 9dB gain at $P_{b}b/=10^{-3}$. This indicates that the 3/4 TC 16QAM is applicable to digital mobile communication with good performance.

  • A novel channel estimation scheme is proposed for coherent Impulse Radio Ultra Wideband (IR-UWB) system based on IEEE 802.15.4a specification. By extracting and utilizing the information on the frequency synchronization, the proposed channel estimation algorithm improves the receiver performance even under the restricted number of preamble symbols in IEEE 802.15.4a signal format. Simulation results over the IEEE 802.15.4a channel models show the performance gain with the proposed algorithm compared to ordinary channel estimation method.

  • 일반적인 통신 시스템의 소스 부호화기는 채널 잡음을 고려하지 않고 설계되며, 채널 부호화기는 소스 신호의 특성과 무관하게 채널 환경의 극복에만 중점을 두고 설계된다. 그러나 대역폭 제한적인 통신 환경에서 보다 효율적인 대역폭 사용을 위해서는 채널 환경에 따라 소스 부호율과 채널 부호율을 가변적으로 운용하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 랜덤잡음 환경에서 동영상 신호를 전송함에 있어 채널 환경에 따라 한정된 채널 자원을 최적으로 할당하는 조인트 소스/채널 부호화 기법에 관하여 기술하였다. 소스 부호화로는 에러내성 기법을 적용한 MPEG-4 비디오 부호화기를 사용하였고, 채널 부호화는 RCPC 부호화기를 적용하였다. 본 논문에서는 여러 가지 채널상태(Es/No)에 따른 율-왜곡특성에 대해 분석하여 소스부호율과 채널부호율 간에 최적의 상충점(Trade-off point)을 결정하였고, 주어진 채널 상태에 대한 목표부호율과 평균제곱오차(Mean Squared Error)의 관계에 대해서 기술하였다.

  • The program of performing a fast and automatic analysis of gamma ray spectra obtained by a Multi-Channel Analyzer (MCA) is developed for the surveillance of the nuclear fuel integrity. The integrity of the nuclear fuel is confirmed by the measurement of the radiation level of the reactor coolant through the real time monitoring and the periodic sampling analysis. In Yonggwang nuclear power plane 3 and 4, the Process Radiation Monitoring System (PRMS), which is a real time monitoring system, provides a measure of the fuel integrity. Currently, its spectrometer channel can identify only one radionuclide at a time since the signal processing unit of the spectrometer channel is a Single Channel Analyzer (SCA). To improve the PRMS, it is necessary to substitute the MCA for the SCA The program is operated in a real time mode and an on-demand mode, and automatically performed for all procedures. The test results by using the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) mixed standard source are in good agreement with those from Canberra System 100 which is a commercial MCA Consequently, the developed program seems to be employed for automatic monitoring of gamma rays in nuclear power plants.

  • 스마트 안테나 기술은 CDMA 이동통신 시스템에서 다른 사용자 간섭신호 및 무선 채널 특성에 의한 성능 열하 현상에 대해 효과적으로 성능 및 채널 용량을 개선할 수 있는 대표적인 해결 방법으로 알려지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 스마트 안테나 기술의 개요 및 국내외 기술동향에 대하여 기술하고, 단말기의 mobility를 고려한 스마트 안테나 채널 모델을 제안하였으며, W-CDMA FDD 상향 링크에서 칩 레벨 빔 형성 알고리즘을 적용한 스마트 안테나 기술의 성능을 분석하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 스마트 안테나 기술을 적용한 경우, 채널 용량이 증가함을 알 수 있으며, 특히 DD(Decision-Directed)모드의 칩 레벨 빔 형성 알고리즘을 적용했을 경우에 성능이 더욱 향상됨을 알 수 있다.

  • In this paper, we develop an approach toward Joint Source-Channel Coding for MPEG-4(Moving picture Experts Group) based video coding In fixed and mobile reception environment. We have considered channel environment of AWGN and mobile reception. The source coder used MPEG-4 video. the channel coder used RCPC(Rate Compatible Punctured Convolution) and the modulation method used QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation. This study determined optimum Trade-off point between source bit rate and channel coding rate In variable channel states. We compared Joint Source/channel Coding method and general constant bit rate transmission. In this results, Joint Source/channel Coding was appeared better performance than constant bit rate transmission.
