  • In this paper, we show that the mapping ${\varphi}(x)\;=\;0*x$ is an endomorphism of a Q-algebra X, which induces a congruence relation "~" such that X/$\varphi$ is a medial Q-algebra. We also study some decompositions of ideals in Q-algebras and obtain equivalent conditions for closed ideals. Moreover, we show that if I is an ideal of a Q-algebra X, then $I^g$ is an ignorable ideal of X.

  • The effects of $NaHCO_3$ on the electrocardiogram of rats were studied in the induced hyperkalemia. The subjects were divided into 4 groups: the group 1 was normal control and the data on this normal control had teen obtained from the following three groups before administration of KCl or $NaHCO_3$, the group 2 (KCl) was administered 40 ml per kg body weight of the 10 per cent KCl solution, the group 3 $(NaHCO_3)$ was administered 40 ml per kg body weight of the 10 per cent $NaHCO_3$ solution, and the group 4 $(KCl+NaHCO_3)$ was received 10 per cent KCl, which was followed by administration of 10 per cent $NaHCO_3$ at one and half hours later. In KCl, the heart rate was decreased rapidly, and then maintained its level, later rapid decreasing heart rate was followed by the cardiac stand still. The mean electrical axis of QRS complex became progressively deviated to the left. The amplitude of T wave was increased transiently but was not changed thereafter. There was prolongation of the P-Q interval and the Q-T interval at the beginning and then they were shortened. In $NaHCO_3$, the heart rate was decreased rapidly at the beginning, later showed a tendency of recovery. The mean electrical axis of QRS was not changed initially, but later became deviated to the left. The amplitude of T wave was not changed. There was prolongation of the P-Q interval and the Q-T interval at the beginning and then they were shortened. In $KCl+NaHCO_3$, there were a tendency of recovery of both the amplitude of the T wave and the electrical axis of the QRS complex after administration of $NaHCO_3$ but the heart rate was not recovered. There was prolonged P-Q interval, but the Q-T interval was relatively unchanged.

  • In this paper, we define a $p$, $q$-difference operator and obtain an explicit formula which is used to express the $p$, $q$-analogue of the unified generalization of Stirling numbers and its exponential generating function in terms of the $p$, $q$-difference operator. Explicit formulas for the non-central $q$-Stirling numbers of the second kind and non-central $q$-Lah numbers are derived using the new $q$-analogue of Newton's interpolation formula. Moreover, a $p$, $q$-analogue of Newton's interpolation formula is established.

  • Let 𝔽q be a finite field with odd q elements. In this article, we prove that if E ⊆ 𝔽dq, d ≥ 2, and |E| ≥ q, then there exists a set Y ⊆ 𝔽dq with |Y| ~ qd such that for all y ∈ Y, the number of distances between the point y and the set E is ~ q. As a corollary, we obtain that for each set E ⊆ 𝔽dq with |E| ≥ q, there exists a set Y ⊆ 𝔽dq with |Y| ~ qd so that any set E ∪ {y} with y ∈ Y determines a positive proportion of all possible distances. The averaging argument and the pigeonhole principle play a crucial role in proving our results.

  • Based on intrinsic and scattering quality factor ($Q_i^{-1}$ and$Q_s^{-1}$) obtained from the seismic data of the southeastern Korean Peninsula, the expected coda quality factor (${Q_{Cexp}}^{-1}$) was theoretically calculated using multiple scattering model, and was compared with other quality factors such as $Q_i^{-1}$, $Q_s^{-1}$, and observed $Q_C^{-1}$ obtained by single scattering model. While the ${Q_{Cexp}}^{-1}$ values are typically comparable to the $Q_i^{-1}$ values, the $Q_C^{-1}$ values are different from the ${Q_{Cexp}}^{-1}$ values except for the higher frequency. Future works require to consider depth-dependent attenuation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of bone mineral density on life styles, dietary habits and nutrient intakes among the male college students. The subjects were divided into four groups; $Q_1$ (calcaneus BMD < 25 percentile, n = 117), $Q_2$ (25 percentile $\le$ calcaneus BMD < 50 percentile, n = 118), $Q_3$ (50 percentile $\le$ calcaneus BMD < 75 percentile, n = 118) $Q_4$ (calcaneus BMD $\ge$ 75 percentile, n = 116). And they were asked about general characteristics, life style, dietary habit, and nutrient intake using questionnaire and 24-hr recall method. They were measured the bone mineral density of calcaneus using quantitative ultrasound. The average age of the subjects of the study was 23.0 yews and the average height, weight, and BMI were 174.7 cm, 69.0 kg, $22.5 kg/m^2$. The bone mineral density in calcaneus was $0.43 g/cm^2$ in $Q_1,\;0.50 g/cm^2$ in $Q_2,\;0.56 g/cm^2$ in $Q_3$, and $0.69 g/cm^2$ in $Q_4$ (p < 0.001). The results showed that $Q_1$ tended to have irregular exercise compared to the other three groups. Compared with $Q_1$ and $Q_2$, the frequency of skipping breakfast was lower in $Q_3$ and $Q_4$. Also the results showed that the $Q_4$ was significantly more often to drink coffee compared with the other three groups (p < 0.01). The mean daily energy intake was 2210.6 kcal ($88.4\%$ of RDA). The intake of energy, vitamin $B_2$, calcium, and zinc did not meet the Korean RDA. Also the $Q_2$consumed significantly lower intakes of protein (p < 0.05) and plant protein (p < 0.05) compared to the $Q_3$ and $Q_4$. The $Q_1$ and $Q_2$ consumed significantly lower intakes of vitamin $B_2$ (p < 0.01) compared to the $Q_3$ and $Q_4$. In conclusion, male student in lower bone mineral density appeared to have unhealthy life styles and dietary habits in terms of irregular exercise, high frequency of skipping breakfast and lower intakes of protein, vitamin $B_2$ showing a strong need proper education on meal practices and exercise habits for the bone health.

  • In this paper, we introduce various first order (p, q)-difference equations. We investigate solutions to equations which are linear (p, q)-difference equations and nonlinear (p, q)-difference equations. We also find some properties of (p, q)-calculus, exponential functions, and inverse function.

  • Interstitial deletions involving the chromosome band 15q22q24 are very rare and only nine cases have been previously reported. Here, we report on a 12-day-old patient with a de novo 15q22q23 interstitial deletion. He was born by elective cesarean section with a birth weight of 3,120 g at 41.3-week gestation. He presented with hypotonia, sensory and neural hearing loss, dysmorphism with frontal bossing, flat nasal bridge, microretrognathia with normal palate and uvula, thin upper lip in an inverted V-shape, a midline sacral dimple, severe calcanovalgus at admission, and severe global developmental delay at 18 months of age. Fluorescence in situ hybridization findings confirmed that the deleted regions contained at least 15q22. The chromosome analysis revealed a karyotype of 46,XY,del(15) (q22q23). Parental chromosome analysis was performed and results were normal. After reviewing the limited literature on interstitial 15q deletions, we believe that the presented case is the first description of mapping of an interstitial deletion involving the chromosome 15q22q23 segment in Korea. This report adds to the knowledge of the clinical phenotype associated with the 15q22q23 deletion.
